Don’t think I’ve ever been less excited to have the Front Row Seats – especially after Sale was pulled from tonight’s start.

Thin crowd so far for a Sux game.
Blessedly, the Sawks fan turnout in Oakland has been in decline in recent years
They’ve had a few wide shots, and wow, that is a weak turnout under any circumstances.
I’ve had Sale for Friday all along, not sure what your complaint is if you’re getting Gray. And I SEE YOU ON TV Dr. ptbnl.
Sale would have gone tonight if they wanted to pitch him every fifth day, rather than every fifth game.
I’ll take a chance with the A’s vs RHP…which will happen tonight, but not for the next three days.
Not having Alonso hurts the most tonight though.
I was just trusting my Sox-fan seat mate, who’d been expecting Sale rather than a 28 year old career Mexican leaguer’s debut.
Instead of Rooted in Oakland, the slogan for this year should be Defensive Indifference.
Pecked to death by ducks.
This is a long inning.
Somehow I didn’t realize CY25 was still in the majors, and has done reasonably well since leaving the A’s.
Excellent, this pitcher appears to be terrible.
Heading to OT in Nashville after a tying goal by the Preds with 30 seconds left.
Rajai kind of sucks at baserunning, inexplicably.
He does, and he screwed up there. But I don’t see how they reversed that call. And the third base ump was right on top of the play.
That’s unbelievable.
Not sure whether to be more mad at Rajai for inability to stay on the bag, or for yet another very questionable reversal on a play that without replay nobody would even have given a second thought to.
Same
I wish Glen and Ray would recognize that:
1. Rajai’s right foot was off the bag while he was getting tagged.
2. Rajai sucks at sliding.
3. Rajai is a FKing idiot for trying to stretch that hit into a triple.
Actually, I wish they would just STFU.
Wait, what? It was a clear triple. He was an idiot for popping up instead of staying down.
I’m relying on the old baseball adage to never make the first out at 3rd base. Also, I thought he was out from the beginning.
He almost stopped after rounding 2nd and still made it to 3rd in plenty of time. Just needed to make a good slide… which he didn’t do.
Damn, Pinder crushed that.
It’s nice to see the other team’s fat hanging curves leave the yard for a change.
No reason for him not to be in the lineup everyday.
Rajai now just needs to get thrown out at home for the cycle.
Now I’m kind of rooting for this.
I think he can do it. I believe in him.
We were rooting for him to challenge the record for most hit/thrown out PAs in a game.
Robby Thompson had a 3H/4CS masterpiece in a game with 7/13 steals overall that featured a 4th inning (led off by Bob Melvin) that went:
– single
– single, runner to 2nd
– single, runners to 2nd & 3rd
– ground into force at 3rd, runner scores
– double steal; runner scores on E2; runner scores on E7
– single
– caught stealing
But the winner is Rickey (because Rickey) with 3H/3CS, leading off both the 1st and the 2nd innings and getting on base and being caught stealing 2nd both times.
Gotta throw out a big FK you to Billy Martin for having Mike Norris go 11 innings.
To each his own and everything but neck tattoos aren’t the best look.
Pretty small crowd for a Red Sox game. They should have made this Matt Joyce bobblehead night.
A Tabitha Soren books signing…is Downtown Julie Brown going to show up as well?
To each his own and everything but taking a bath in melted Velveeta is not a good way to cure back acne.
The scenes on Air Force 1 right now must be incredible.
Other than I guess Pence, everyone who fits that description is on the plane right now.
my mind immediately went to agatha christie but i couldn’t pick the right plot.
death on denial is too obvious.
22 twain
oh wow. i totally forgot about that movie. i must have seen it 20 times, all before i was old enough to understand any of it.
is it free on tv? I will check
Murder on the Orient Express … they all did it!
Winner
i’m hoping it turns to and then there were none.
But then it turns out Merrick Garland actually survived.
It’s gotta be either Kushner, Bannon, or maybe Miller, right?
Yeah, and Kushner has to be the runaway favorite.
I’d lean towards Miller.
Miller doesn’t seem like the type to have had illicit Russian contacts or questionable financial arrangements. He’s too busy writing Nazi speeches and ripping the heads off of baby bunnies.
but he does seem very very thirsty.
if its kusner, do you think he’ll get a downward departure in sentencing because he lost his father to prison for a number of years?
Can you get a departure downward from pardoned?
good point
And here’s the White House trying to use the waivable ethics rule about the special counsel investigating former law firm clients to protect….Kushner.
Thanks, and go As.
McMaster joins the crowd in reputation-preservation mode
Don’t tell him he shouldn’t resign…
Anyone want the front row seats on Sunday? The holder can’t use them after all.
Were you at the game last night wearing a PTBNL jersey? If so Korach and Kaval were talkin’ about you.
I was at Thursday’s game, wearing PTBNL.
If you want to watch Boston fans suffer I recommend the basketball game.
The TV ratings in Boston for this Red Sox game are going to be quite a bit better than they expected.
Fosse just said the important thing for Kendall Graveman tonight is to not give up any runs and then hope the bullpen also doesn’t give up any runs,.
are you saynig he is wrong?
I like his plan a lot actually.
it worked!
Glen “doesn’t think opportunities with runners on have been in short supply” for the A’s this season.
They are 25th in the league in OBP. Someone hand the man some research so he won’t sound so dumb.
I don’t know how consistent Winters is. He squeezed Sale earlier.
Sale is impossibly skinny.
I don’t care what walkup music you’re using tonight, Trevor. That was one weak-ass throw.
sure, but 75% of the time its caught at first
If you bet the over on the number of runs the A’s would score against Sale tonight, you’ve won your bet.
i am liking the odds of breaking sale’s strikeout thing
Pinder and Phegley deliver in the end.
damn. still running him for112 pitches seems dumb
He has been 108-115 in 7 of those 8 games (102 in the other).
just so he can stike out 10? good luck in sept!
Safe
I’m never right about these.
Wow, good defense and a close call in our favor.
Tie game. Will it end because of an A’s HR, or an A’s error?
Or just Santiago Casilla and his magical hanging pitches.
Damn.
Error on Korach.
They just played the reply. He got fooled bad.
Instead of pie in the face, Jackie Bradley Jr punches you.
Maybe Heath Hembree will pitch like Alan Embree.
Everything but the single for Canha tonight.
he still hits righties i see
W00t!
It was quite a night of Masshole Misery.
13-8 at home…6-15 on the road…no more road games, please.
Preakness day! However, I’ma get my Preak on this glorious playing pickup softball in West Oakland, home of the best weather on earth. Lowell Park on 14th St starting by 1:00 PM if anyone wants to join.
Always Dreaming probably will win. Many think he’s sitting on another big race after the KYD romp. But 4-5 feels like way too much respect for a horse that got a perfect trip on an inside biased Churchill track in the slop, while all the big contenders got very rough trips. I’ll take my chances betting against an overvalued Always Dreaming, as follows:
$5 across the board (W-P-S; $15) on Conquest Mo Money (10). This is the only pure early speed horse in the race, and if the pace proves modest as many expect, I think he’ll have lots left to hold on at or near the lead down the stretch. The Preakness historically rewards horses at or near the lead.
$5 across the board on Hence (3), $15. Got a lot of buzz heading into KYD then got bottled up early and never had a chance. Now up to 20-1, seems to me this is the same live horse with a good chance two weeks ago (at worse odds in a 20-horse field). Also, while seen as a closer-type, Hence has shown early speed before, and I’d expect to see him more forwardly placed, giving him a good chance to hit the board in a couple late race scenarios. I love the value on this bet.
$5 Exacta with Classic Empire (5) over Hence, Conquest Mo Money, or Cloud Computing (2), $15. Classic Empire got hit hard twice in the first five seconds in KY and lost any chance of victory, then gathered and ran strongly through the last half mile to take 4th. Again here, I liked this horse two weeks ago and still do. Also think he might show more early pace and make Always Dreaming work harder. At 3-1 there’s not much reward, so putting him over three contenders at 12-1 or better is a way to make it worthwhile.
Close but no cigar :-(
If I’d only boxed that exacta…
Skunked again.
this is nice to come home to
OK I know he sucks and all but Chad Pinder just hit a ball over the fucking suites in LCF.
Thanks, and go As.
does he?
From what I’ve seen Pinder looks like a guy who could grow into his body and really hit some.
Marshawn!
I went to the Cal/TCU game today.
Kirk Saarloos is TCU’s pitching coach.
(Cal won 8-3, just like the A’s.)
That Pinder homer was ridiculous. Equally amazing that there was a large group of fans all the way up there to retrieve the ball.
I see an error was involved in the Red Sox scoring…that’s surprising.
It was a doozy. Canha
1) Broke the wrong way on a catchable bloop down the RF line.
2) Tried to throw to second even though the lead runner was already safe there.
3) Missed by so much that it ended up in medium LF.
Sounds like I missed a good one.
I think that accurately qualifies as a doozy.
The weather looks nice, the Red Sox are in town, the A’s are going for a sweep, and there are a lot of empty seats.
Well, that was an unconventional double play.
The Red Sox were all confused by someone on the A’s catching a ball.
In the NFL that probably wouldn’t have been a catch…of course to be fair I have no idea what a catch in the NFL means anymore.
Both feet inbounds, ball perfectly still down to the microscopic level, make two football moves, say “the national football league” out loud, pass the concussion protocol, stand for the national anthem, beat a domestic violence rap, hand the ball to the ref.
And Glorious Mundy wins the thread.
First 3 steps of the riverdance.
Thanks, and go As.
I’m not saying they should have gotten the runner but it should have been closer.
I’m starting to get excited about this team a bit.
I might just start watching the innings when we’re at bat…this is Little League level defense.
That throw by Khris Davis was hilarious.
I don’t understand how someone can have such a powerful swing and such a weak throwing arm.
He seems to be a very one dimensional player. He hits dingers in bunches and does very little else.
His range this year has looked a little better to my eyes.
That very well could be. He’s a player I have mixed feelings about.
Why in the blue bleeding FK was Rosales covering second on a steal with a right-handed hitter up?
I really like watching Mookie Betts play.
CATCH THE FKING BALL
Triggs reminds me a lot of Jeff Nelson…I don’t recall seeing many starting pitchers with his style.
Not a great outing but the offensive defense didn’t help matters either.
I wouldn’t mind a little Mitch Lessland.
Dustin Pedroia looks more like Jason Statham every year.
You say tomato I say weapons grade uranium.
With the Marlins coming to town make sure all the player know not to swing on a 3-0 pitch if the A’s have a big lead…apparently it goes against those stupid unwritten rules of baseball or something.
75° with a delightful cool breeze at Stinson Beach, this is fucking paradise.
The people:grains of sand ratio at Tahoe beaches is going to be awful all summer. I might take the satellite radio out for a Wednesday afternoon game or two but I’ll mostly give that a break this year. Forget it on the weekends. Water level is just under one foot from the max right now and it should be between there and the very top until almost Labor Day.
I don’t understand why Stinson isn’t always just packed once the weather gets nice. Growing up, I just took it for granted. But then I lived in New England and saw how crowded their crappy beaches get. Maybe the highway 1 traffic scares people off?
It can be 90 degrees in San Rafael, but then you head down to Mill Valley, drive up the hill on 1 and at the Panoramic Highway intersection near the top of the hill, blam, there’s a wall of fog. That’s true more often than not from about mid-June to late-August. “Once the weather gets nice” is a very local thing in the Bay Area, and at the immediate coast most of summer is chilly and gray.
It’s a combo of what you and Soaker say. On a nice weekend day you gotta get there by 10 to get parking and a good beach spot, but often the fog doesn’t break for a couple hours yet. So you have to gear up early for a day which might swing 20+ degrees while you’re there. High barriers to entry. Still, it’ll be packed with a long line of cars waiting to get in by 2 PM when I’m heading home.
This Sox outfield can cover a lot of ground.
Amazing what a talented outfield can look like.
At the game on Thursday we were reminiscing about the “3 center fielder” outfields of yore.
An outstanding non-Rickey version of my youth.
It looks like I picked the wrong game to watch for the series.
I’ve never been one of those fans who thinks he can do something better than a pro but…I have a better arm than Khris Davis does. His throws make me laugh every time I see them.
yeah, i cannot understand why its so bad
Even Jackie Bradley Jr. is hitting so I’m starting to think this isn’t our day.
That Wednesday day game against our traditional rival the Marlins could set attendance records.
Three field goals and we’re right back in this thing.
Here’s hoping this is Josh Smith’s last ever appearance in Oakland (at least as an A).
I don’t know who this Smith fella is and I don’t think I’m going to bother to learn.
Oh well, we got three outta four, and that ain’t bad.
Yep. It’s a good series.
its more aggravating though.
You say potato I say cinder cone volcano.
I tell you what if we could have 9 DH’s, and then 9 guys who can field, to go along with a pitching staff made up only from starters, and all are games were at home, and all those home games were night games…we’d be pretty damn good.
Posting on http://www.freekraut.net is a great place to spend some time alone and think about one’s place in the universe.
little rock?
I thought happiness was Lubbock, Texas in my rear view mirror.
hey, lubbock or leave it
Again, redoing Watergate but dumber.
And meanwhile Flynn is taking the Fifth.
After Trump reached out to tell him to “stay strong.”
This Warriors-Spurs game has all the drama and atmosphere of a mid-January game between the Hornets and the Suns.
Sigh
Heh
Sickening
oh my god
This is crazy. Plenty of other presidents would overlook Duterte’s murder campaign, and that would be bad enough. But to single it out as the most praiseworthy thing?
My favorite part is that it was Duterte who finally changed the subject to North Korea after Trump asked “So how is everyone doing? How is the Philippines doing?”
need to know where the subs were at
Yeah, yes. Fine, I can hear you now, Dmitri. Clear and plain and coming through fine. I’m coming through fine too, eh? Good, then. Well then, as you say, we’re both coming through fine. Good. Well, it’s good that you’re fine, and – and I’m fine. I agree with you. It’s great to be fine.
This administration is like Dr Strangelove if all the characters had been played by Will Ferrell.
Oh cool, Comey himself fell for Russian disinfo about Clinton and his boss last year and let it govern his actions that led to his his bungling of the emailzzzzz announcements.
