He guys, I have a preliminary hearing in an hour and I can do put this together. I expect you to comment.
kazmir pitching I imagine its the same kind of lineup.
Edit: Burns, Reddick, Zobrist, Vogt, Butler, Muncy, Lawrie, Fuld, Sogart
thanks
I have $5. No I don\'t.
No success!
Just tuned in, heard talk about a Holliday and a Machado and got briefly confused about who we were playing
Way to wriggle out of trouble
That’s enough walks now Kaz.
As I get older I find I have little patience for pitchers that 1) dont throw strikes or 2) dont get a bunch of swings and misses.
And why is Schlong always getting picked off?
Vince, Ray, and Glen in the booth for the misnamed breakfast with the A’s. It just doesnt get any better than…ok cant say that with a straight face.
are you ok? didn’t get hit by any stray home run balls?
Thanks for asking?
I’m not ok. I am suffering from a nice case of blepharitis and look like Quasimodo. But it’s nothing that a big win would not soothe.
@Aces: you think that’s bad? I watched the bottom of the first waiting for my lunch order in a place with sound off and the closed captioning on. It read like an e.e. cummings poem.
LOL-As someone who always has them on I feel your pain. I’ve learned during the game to just ignore it for fear of going insane.
hopefull kazmir is being traded
Kazmir hurt and getting pulled? Can’t imagine anything will go wrong here
Yeah, what’s going on?
Listening to Tigers radio today (Vince and Glen, no thanks). They said Kazmir was motioning to his shoulder in the dugout. It’s one of those years that’s such a disaster, the guys you need to trade get hurt first.
This is a pretty compelling argument for not waiting until the trade deadline.
I thought Beane would start making moves after the June 8 draft and I hoped Kazmir could stay healthy through June 15.
I don’t feel like I was asking too much!
They should sell on Clippard ASAP. That 2.25 ERA isn’t going to stay shiny for long when paired with a 7.6 K/9 and a 5 BB/9.
Clippard and Zobrist.
This year, you are. If the A’s didn’t make poor decisions or have terrible luck, where would they be?
fuckers
called me in early to say it was going to be late. now I am watching my bosses murder trial while not doing my hearing or watching the game
Your boss murdered someone, or someone murdered your boss?
boss’s
I think he has multiple bosses who conspired to murder someone or someones.
it can’t be any clearer. they are currently murdering the very concept of trial. concurrently, they are not doing ed’s hearing. also concurrently, when they are not not doing his hearing, they are not watching the game. ed’s a witness.
out? safe?
Otero’s getting lucky
Otero’s getting lucky
Otero’s getting luBOOM
their Cubans are better than our cubans
once zobrist and Doolittle come back we will start winning these games
Doolittle’s fastball was 88-90. That ain’t gonna work for him.

17-32 equals the 2005 team. I don’t see any upside here, but I suppose I didn’t see it at this time in 2005 either.
The upside is that in an alternate universe, we won this game. But then that team is now a 3 time in a row reigning World Championship team. Then again, that earthquake rocked the stadium and forced the city/county to remove the upper deck entirely in a rather crude and ugly fashion. But they did win the lawsuit against the A’s over the “damages” since no games were missed and they’d been tarping most of those seats off. Yes, we’re still in the Coliseum in that universe too.
Another series not won.
one of the attorneys at another defense firm has had warrior tickets for about 20 years. they are about 3rd or 4th row. he was telling me that he sold the last pair for $1300 a piece. he said he had them up for $1600 today. if they don’t sell him and his seat partner are going to go.
that has to be a tough dilemma for them, pay for the season seats in full, or go to the games.
What’s the face value on those?
he mentioned “$300”, but I don’t know what that meant. we were in line to call cases and have to cease conversations quickly with no followups
Decent markup. But as a criminal defense attorney, doesn’t he want to be on hand to get Floyd Mayweather’s signature on a retainer after he punches Kanye? Need to look at the big picture when your seats are that good.
a guy at work did that with that other team during the WS a few years ago
Thanks, and go As.
Barring sudden personal financial calamity, I couldn’t give up my seats for my team late in the postseason. Would hurt too much not to be there.
It’s so tempting to edit out the “not” based on the past few years.
I wondered about it in the ’12-14 run. Would have had to have been quite a markup, but there was a price that would have convinced me to sell one non-clinchable WS game.
Whoever guessed the boys would fall behind, come back but short, and lose by one run was right,
Warriors on the verge of the mother fudging Finals, y’all.
The Finals. In Oakland.

paid no attention to the lecture, just read bible verse flash cards
The NBA playoffs have been great, because I’ve had teams to root for – the Warriors and the Cavaliers, the team of my childhood.
I feel very ambivalent about the finals. I wouldn’t feel the same in a playoff showdown between the A’s and Indians, even though I went to more baseball games than basketball games as a kid. But I have some strong memories, and a strong attachment (first playoff game pitted the Cavaliers against the Celtics).
I will still root for the Warriors, but I wouldn’t be sad if the Cavaliers won. For all the talk about 40 years, the Cavaliers have won never, and Cleveland hasn’t won a championship since before I was born. And the Warriors should win, so the Cavs do have the appeal of being an underdog, LeBron or no LeBron.
I cant figure this all out because I don’t spend any energy on it, but the team that signed the best player in basketball as a free agent is an underdog?
The Warriors at their best are better. The Cavaliers play in Cleveland. You have no idea what a handicap that has turned out to be for professional sports teams. Rooting for Cleveland to win a title in professional sports is akin to rooting for Cal to make it to the Rose Bowl.
on the contrary, it’s “the team that the best player in basketball decided to play for”
AFTER he went to Miami, formed a superteam, let the other team get 3 straight ridiculously high draft picks and the ability to trade for other superstars after LBJ went back there.
I do like Lebron in the sense that he is one of the all time best players probably ever, but I really don’t like the way he basically colludes to have teams around him.
Thanks, and go As.
But it’s Cleveland. So the “superteam” consists of an injured guy who’s been out for the playoffs (traded for a youngster who is a budding superstar) and another injured guy who’s been pretty useless for most of the postseason and whose usefulness in the finals is extremely questionable.
Basically it’s LeBron, a couple of Knick castoffs, flotsam and jetsam, and a couple of big guys acquired in trades. This is the sort of team that prompted LeBron to leave for Miami in the first place. And LeBron isn’t even as good as he was a couple of years ago. He’s on the downside of his career, and is being asked to put the team on his back. (This is why the Love trade will hurt in the long run even as it’s not helping in the short run.) The fact that he’s managed to do it is a tribute to him, a desperate but shrewd midseason deal, and a reminder that the Eastern Conference still sucks.
Oh, no the superteam I meant was Miami.
Cleveland right now is basically Lebron and some guys since Love and Irving aren’t 100%
I disagree with that.
Thanks, and go As.
I don’t know how you make a case that he’s not on the downside of his career. It’s not like it’s nearing the end, but he’s no longer in his prime and he certainly isn’t magically going to get younger/better than he is now.
Younger no, but there’s no reason to think he’ll decline. He may play differently because his athleticism will start to decline, but he’s still going to be a 6’8, 240lb monster. He’s got at least 3-4 more years of MVP caliber play left, and THEN he’ll probably start to decline.
Thanks, and go As.
“He may play differently because his athleticism will start to decline”
You literally made my argument for me. He has already hit his peak. He’ll never be quite as good as he was a year or two ago. That hardly means he’s not an MVP caliber player now and possibly ongoing for a bit longer. He’ll likely still be one of the most dominant players in the game. No one was making the argument he wouldn’t be. But that doesn’t mean he’s not in the decline, that he’s on the downside of his career rather than the upside where he’s approaching his peak.
unless of course, one doesn’t read “differently” as purely subtractive.
http://www.businessinsider.com/lebron-calls-plays-cavaliers-2015-4
Doesn’t really need to be subtractive to still be on the downside.
agreed. whether a player is or isn’t worse overall past his or her purely athletic peak is wide open as a dichotomy. and the burden of proof falls squarely on the proposition that says he or she is necessarily on the downside overall.
It looked like he was already starting to play differently because his athleticism had declined at the beginning of this season. Then he took a mysterious two-week sabbatical in Miami and came back playing like his old self again.
Bartolo’s House of Stem Cells?
Hi! I finally remembered how to get here! Yay Dubs! Get your act together A’s. I got to meet Grover. He’s nice, but not all that blue and fuzzy.
Whooop-de-doop.
Okie doke.
Kalamazoo.
Aren you saying that you dont want to boast, but you know Lynn’s the most?
we’ve got a (lynnz)gal in…
DMOAS!
Hey!
Thanks, and go As.
Hey lynn!
Hi Lynn.
I seem to disappoint a lot of people with my appearance…
Anyone else going to the game tonight?
Front row seats, baby!
I’ll be in the usual lot spot with my buddy Phil around 5ish. Not going inside until near game time, bobblehead notwithstanding.
I’m trying to get my chronically late friend there at least close to first pitch – little to no chance of parking lot shenanigans, I’m afraid.
I believe in Stephen Vogt!
I believe in drinking beer (at non-stadium prices)!
I believe in what you wrote!
I believe I will be on my couch with my stupid sprained ankle elevated!
The other front row seat.
booo
she’s got a sprain. not the hiccups.
I can’t complain–they came through with a win!
Sorry to have to ask this, but now you have to go sprain your other ankle to keep the streak going.
As skilled as I am on these crutches, next sprain coming in 3…2…1…
I have to teach people how to use crutches. I look like a whole on chopsticks.
Yeah, the guy gave me a tutorial, and then made me take a turn around the area so he could judge if I was doing it right. He gave me the thumbs up, but man do I feel uncoordinated.
The Maddie’s adoptathon is this weekend, so I guess I won’t be showing any dogs :( Also this is supposed to be the week we’re closing down our warehouse, but I don’t see that happening now. Terrible timing on my part.
Terrible timing or cunning strategy!
Oh, I’m working it!
