Having seen the bits of broadcast of the Twins’ on that third base challenge, I’m more annoyed. They had two different views slowed down showing clearly that he was out.
Somebody like that, you’re just grateful to catch a little bit of a hot streak. Maybe this is Barton’s day for that. It’s shaping up as quite a battle of attrition of the DFA candidates.
Seems like even with the platoon disadvantage Gentry should be in the lineup at this point. I hope they figure out what other move to make and get him on the roster ASAP.
I think probably they haven’t made a move yet because they’re waiting to see if Coco needs to go on the DL, in which case they wouldn’t have to dfa/send anyone down. Reasonable enough I think.
Defensive stats have him as the best outfielder in the majors over the past few years. Great baserunner. Fine enough hitter. High WAR totals the past couple years in half seasons of pt.
Isn’t Dan Gladden there? You might change your mind when he starts talking.
I can deal with three innings of Vince, but Fosse drools all over Korach’s broadcast and ruins it for me. I usually don’t listen to radio when Fosse is on.
This reminds of last year when people were calling for the Rosales DFA…right when it looked like the A’s were finally about to, he’d hit a home run or something.
Yeah that’s true. But the throw definitely drew him further over the plate, and well before the runner arrived. I don’t think I’m going to like this rule at all
wUC. ratio of times ray says unbleblievlable over times vince attributes skill to confidence, weighted by how long it takes KK to herd the comment back into whatever he was actually talking about.
j/k. i’m watching twins tv.
*i’m* AV. alex vause. put this loon in psych before she hurts someone.
The theme of Dick and Bert’s broadcast has definitely become, “We sure wish we could watch the A’s pitching all season, but instead we get 153 more games of this dreck.”
Mine do too! They jump in any chance they get. And Figgy looooooves our office post lady. Whenever possible she climbs in the drivers area and wedges her butt in between the gas pedal and the sidewall.
No arrests have been made nor charges filed against the players, Miami Police spokesman Rene Pimental said Thursday.
“There’s no evidence of a crime or a sexual assault,” Pimental said. “This report is simply an incident report taken at the woman’s request.”
The incident was initially reported online by TMZ as a sexual assault, but Pimental said the celebrity gossip news site “took the report out of context.”
And I have to say: mikev is one of my favorite people on here
-slusser.
If I were the team, I’d be a *little* concerned about a potential pattern of behavior, but the public at large, the NFL, and pretty much anyone and everyone else it’s entirely a non-story.
IIRC, this isn’t the first “odd” behavior report connected to him. And even if it is, contract negotiations with a guy who spends his time around booze and weed (currently an illegal drug for the NFL) should be enough to give them pause. Mind you, said a “little” concern, not a lot.
so glad that’s over though. now i can really focus on examining every last thing ellbsury said, did, sneezed, farted toward the imminent and eminent battle… of the early cellar dwellers.

Damn, that was my chance to make the game thread and take the credit for the win…
LOL DROPBOX.
That is all.
Thanks, and go As.
huh? personal issue, or general news i should know about? i have 3gigs of work on DB… (backed up, don’t worry.)
They just hired Condoleeza Rice onto the board of directors.
Thanks, and go As.
Don’t worry, Condoleeza will help maintain its integrity and independence.
We’ll see if she does that in her role on the college football playoff committee, or if Furd makes mysterious appearances.
Honey bunny there is no mystery about how awesome we are.
Though I do hope this appointment takes up enough of her time that Condi stops showing up at Stanford games.
I don’t think that board of directors positions take up much of anyone’s time.
I really hope it hasn’t gone unnoticed that Fuld is back to being terrible.
That was faster than usual.
TWSS
Somebody like that, you’re just grateful to catch a little bit of a hot streak. Maybe this is Barton’s day for that. It’s shaping up as quite a battle of attrition of the DFA candidates.
Meh. Coco likely goes to the DL.
True, for this week, but eventually that decision will have to be made.
Seems like it at this point.
running basket catch
Defense isn’t his main problem.
I am saying a running basket catch is a problem
Figures.
The Asshole didn’t do it with the bases loaded. He still sucks.
HRs aren’t gritty enough.
KILL HIM
Well, at least he’s economical with his pitches
the ray effect: inning ends and i have no idea what happened. he’s so tuneoutable i end up not hearing KK either.
If you want Sam Fuld in the lineup over Josh Reddick because of the bat, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Point being, neither Fuld nor Reddick are doing much at the plate, though at least we know what Reddick CAN do. Fuld? WYSIWYG.
Seems like even with the platoon disadvantage Gentry should be in the lineup at this point. I hope they figure out what other move to make and get him on the roster ASAP.
Yup I’m for seeing if Gentry could be a full time outfielder right now.
Absolutely.
I think probably they haven’t made a move yet because they’re waiting to see if Coco needs to go on the DL, in which case they wouldn’t have to dfa/send anyone down. Reasonable enough I think.
why do you lead off the 26/7th guy on your roster?
I do no such thing, how dare you sir!
I’m ready for Gentry, yes.
Can someone please explain why the excitement for Gentry, other than that he’s not Reddick or Fuld?
Can you explain why you asked a question and then answered it?
I’m working on my Ralph Barbieri impression?
Can’t be much worse than Fuld and Reddick at the plate.
BOOM.
Thanks, and go As.
Defensive stats have him as the best outfielder in the majors over the past few years. Great baserunner. Fine enough hitter. High WAR totals the past couple years in half seasons of pt.
His defensive numbers are implausibly high though, unlikely to provide the real value they reflect.
Cool, thx.
Reddick’s bat = French Fry, Fuld’s bat = pizza.
Puntos bat = noodle.
Barton’s bat = Waffle Taco.
So what you’re saying is they give us…. runs? Was that what you were going for?
Nice catch. Don’t ever fucking do it again.
Oh no, Bert Blyleven has a blog? Thank goodness Fosse hasn’t discovered that.
Could you imagine? Dibs: Yes. Yes! YES!!!
That was a fucking terrible HR call, Vince.
Thanks, and go As.
Probably about as good as the Minnesota TV Crew. It just barely went over. The whole thing just felt lazy.
radio guys are good
Isn’t Dan Gladden there? You might change your mind when he starts talking.
I can deal with three innings of Vince, but Fosse drools all over Korach’s broadcast and ruins it for me. I usually don’t listen to radio when Fosse is on.
the color fella is not talking much. the PXP is solid. nothing special.
“TV Crew”
switched to twins guys
…and the call on Moss’s single was even worse.
here comes the rain again.
falling on me like a melody?
(its a guess)
memory, or new emotion.
but i still want to dive into your ocean
We may not get much back for our investment in Johnson, but at least we’re not the Twins.
this team runs on our complaints.
but they know when they are genuine.
does barton or reddick congratulate fuld?
Apparently Reddick still has an option. So that may give us another option instead of DFAing.
Dammit, now they’ll keep him around for a few more weeks.
Towny. Buddy. I like you. I like hanging out and tailgating with you. Fuld was 4-for-22 going into today.
Thanks, and go As.
I don’t think he’s paid for his accurate analysis.
This reminds of last year when people were calling for the Rosales DFA…right when it looked like the A’s were finally about to, he’d hit a home run or something.
Yup.
Not if Angel Hernandez has anything to say about it!
Fuld snapped an 0-for-13 string with that home run.
Blyleven got so frustrated with that one, he called for Pelfrey to start throwing knockdown pitches.
On Fuld’s HR swing, you can see why he doesn’t hit many…
i am starting to think the problem with fuld is that he’s actually writer/editor and modern-day plimpton/papertiger, eli horowitz.
Oh, daric, you need to be more legendary
what the…?
Yeah, Punto royally fucked up on that one.
at least there were no outs?
Were being the operative word.
lowrie…. hmm
That was not a good trip around the bases for Jed.
No, not at all.
the home plate reviews are dumb. I don’t like them.
I think it’s more that the new rule at home plate is awful. Without that, there wouldn’t be an issue.
agreed
BUT HOW ELSE CAN WE PROTECT BUSTER POSEY? DID YOU EVER THINK OF THAT? HE GOT REALLY HURT OKAY
Thanks, and go As.
really too bad the marlins were allowed to employ the #3 guy from Al Qeda to tag up that day
and the first call…
I don’t know, I suppose the choices are straddle the plate (which is too awkward to do so comfortably, and rubber so slippery and dangerous)
or be in front and go for a swipe tag.
I suppose on this call we don’t know where the catchers foot was before the ball was thrown
I actually thought he was safe without the stupid and ambiguously defined rule.
Yeah that’s true. But the throw definitely drew him further over the plate, and well before the runner arrived. I don’t think I’m going to like this rule at all
That is exactly the problem. the only way to field that ball is to block the plate, which has to be ok.
He was out by 10 feet (not tagging the runner with the glove in hand not glove notwithstanding)
Changing the home plate rules at the same time that they introduced replay seems like a terrible combination. No one ever knows what’s going on.
Whether it makes things safer or not, this whole blocking the plate rule change is making things so much more complicated.
Jeebus, what a clusterFK.
On the other hand, gameday is inspiring me to brew an IPR.
another thing I don’t like about challenge.
There is a light on the gameday board representing whether or not there is a challenge left. like a fucking time out meter.
Do not like
(and twins guys are saying the A’s still have one, gameday says no)
The home plate collision review is never a manager’s challenge; that’s always umpire-initiated (though often at the manager’s suggestion).
4 singles, 1 run :-(
Long flip? come on man. throw the ball
wait, I just missed the new statistic Vince was talking about
wUC. ratio of times ray says unbleblievlable over times vince attributes skill to confidence, weighted by how long it takes KK to herd the comment back into whatever he was actually talking about.
j/k. i’m watching twins tv.
The theme of Dick and Bert’s broadcast has definitely become, “We sure wish we could watch the A’s pitching all season, but instead we get 153 more games of this dreck.”
Heh. So true. The reverse of Ray & Glen.
without spring training, I am not overly concerned with cook
My three large dogs think the door being open on the UPS truck is an open invitation.
What can brown do for you?
Clean up the mess after they’re finished for her.
Oswald once came home with his cheeks all puffed out. He had two baby bunnies in mouth! Alive!
That was a delivery!
Mine do too! They jump in any chance they get. And Figgy looooooves our office post lady. Whenever possible she climbs in the drivers area and wedges her butt in between the gas pedal and the sidewall.
Billy Burns would have scored on that.
ray thinks Mauer not having an rbi is about Mauer’s troubles
Professional broadcaster. His job, broadcasting baseball games
If you try to reach base against Fernando, you’re going to have Abad time.
And the A’s sweep the Twins. Routine.
pfffft! 6 runs? slackers (looking at you lowrie and fuld)
“A pleasant early-April trip to Minneapolis” — can’t string those words together very often.
Tomorrow night: productive offense, meet brick wall.
I am calling 5 runs.
Moss HR
How do the Tigers not win 100 games every year when they get to play these guys 19 times a year?
Well, nobody in the AL West won 100 last year even with the Astros there.
Mice whim, switches.
I have always wondered…
Pat Henry: He tried to run the cops down.
ran em into the ground
Uhhhhhhh………
Seems like a non-story so far, really.
Thanks, and go As.
I, for one, am shocked that TMZ would take something and sensationalize it!
Thanks, and go As.
Three pro athletes in a house with booze and weed and a naked passed-out woman, that’s legitimately sensational even if not illegal.
Really? That sounds like a typical Sunday night. Especially when the woman isn’t making any claims.
If I were the team, I’d be a *little* concerned about a potential pattern of behavior, but the public at large, the NFL, and pretty much anyone and everyone else it’s entirely a non-story.
Does anything suggest that it’s a pattern, or did his ex girlfriend just get too hammered?
Thanks, and go As.
IIRC, this isn’t the first “odd” behavior report connected to him. And even if it is, contract negotiations with a guy who spends his time around booze and weed (currently an illegal drug for the NFL) should be enough to give them pause. Mind you, said a “little” concern, not a lot.
What else is there? This is the first thing I’ve heard connected to him.
Thanks, and go As.
belated, wooooo!
so glad that’s over though. now i can really focus on examining every last thing ellbsury said, did, sneezed, farted toward the imminent and eminent battle… of the early cellar dwellers.
Who’s in first place? We’re in first place.
guaranteed till saturday! (some sharing may occur.)
Nope. We only have a half game and play Seattle tomorrow.
yeah, forgot to add in their day off.
Yuck. Felix tomorrow,
that’s why i tampered my confidence with possible sharing.
it’s ok though. one step back, two steps forward, hopefully.
bad math. never mind.
guaranteed till end of next game!
