    Is it common for a team in first at the end of June to have 2 semi-regular guys in the lineup hitting under. 200?

    • 5Aces Jun 22,2013 7:25 pm || Up

      I should have added that: 2 guys sub .200, and I still would want SA off the roster first!

          I feel like I should dislike Keebs just as much. He has run into about a dozen outs this year and has had his share of defensive miscues. But I dont. I think it is the elven nature, but Id be fine with him getting 1-2 starts a week to rest a good middle infielder.

      It seemed strange to use him as a pinch-hitter and then defensive replacement in the 6th inning, if he wasn’t able to be in the starting lineup against the RHP. If this goes to the 11th or 12th I wonder if we might get Donaldson behind the plate.

    I mean, the whole big ass fuckign conference on the mound, Balfour taking his sweet fucking time getting ready, and then throwing THAT GODDAMN PITCH DOWN THE FUCKING MIDDLE?

    What a fucking pathetic pitch. Honestly.

    And I have to say: mikev is one of my favorite people on here -slusser.

    Thanks, and go As.

    Well, at least the Angels lost in totally spectacular fashion and the Cards have Wainwright going tonight.

    Jeremy Fucking Bonderman, aaron Fucking Harang.

      This seems familiar, but the whole Bonderman thing makes me want to throw a chair through a wall…

    I know the obvious choice is Scribbles or someone to help the bullpen. But can we PLEASE HAVE A MI?!?

        I hope Rosales goes with him. He is out of options as I recall.

      Likely has to do with a day off tomorrow, two games, day off, three games, day off scheduling. I mean, WTF is THAT?

      • 5Aces Jun 23,2013 7:10 pm || Up

        Which is all the more reason to not put an extra useless arm in the bullpen.

      Going through the schedule, the next 4 times the A’s need a 5th starter are:
      July 6 at Kansas City
      July 23 at Houston
      July 28, home vs. LAA
      August 13, home vs. Houston

      They only play 35 games in the next 46 days, with 7 off-days plus 4 days for the All-Star Break. The 7-man bullpen should be sufficient for most of that. In the short-term, the catchers have been a little banged up so maybe Vogt is the guy. Longer-term, I might give Nakajima a look in that roster spot, and it seems pretty logical at some point here to DFA Suck Ass and let Green be the 25th man/5 or 6 position utility guy for the rest of the year.

        With Chavez on the roster, you could probably get away with throwing him against KC and not need to decide on a 5th starter until Houston.

        • dmoas Jun 23,2013 8:47 pm || Up

          And yes, I have no idea where that came from. And I’m scared. Someone please hold me.

          • Soaker Jun 23,2013 9:06 pm || Up

            I’m going to be at that game, and somehow I envision watching Chavez give up 8 runs in the bottom of the first in 110-degree weather with 180% humidity, following the three-hour tornado delay.

          But if he somehow got through KC, you could probably throw him or Scribner against HOU with little issue. Hell, its at HOU-I’d have CY25 pitch; he’d thrown 8 innings of 2 hit ball, k12, and go 4-4 at the plate.

      If anyone mentions Raul Ibanez to me, I’m going to have a FKing MI.

    Just watch the 9th and 10th inning highlights of the Angels’ meltdown if you wanna feel better. That’s perhaps the worst, most crushing loss of any team in any game this year, delicious I tell you. Plus I like the Pirates.

        I saw them get swept there in the early 2000s – but it was the final three games of the regular season as the A’s were about to go to the playoffs and they’d already clinched.

  87. JamesV Jun 24,2013 7:28 am

    I’ve learned to mostly stop watching A’s/M’s games because they’re likely to just make me mad. This policy served me well over the weekend.

      Not I, although we were already headed out of the stadium to make the drive home when the GW hit occurred.

      A soliloquy of fresh-sounding ideas which would probably be disastrous.
