But I missed a chance to see the Oakland artist who created this doing a demo.  The Puking Kitty Saucy Boat
And this, AV, was the real reason we didn’t meet up today.

I was at CatVidFest! It was a fun time! Some food stands, some merch stands, some random fun stands (facepaint and sculpting and tai chi and more), and cat videos on the Great Wall of Oakland.
Do dogs drool and cats rule? Never mind, I know they do.
i’m DISTRAUGHT! that wall is directly behind my office, and i coulda sat on the roof watching this like king of the kittens or something. wow did we pick the wrong week to visit mom.

Back in the old country (and days), Mothers’ Day was when children (only) honoured (only their own) mothers. Where and when did it become everyone’s job to celebrate every mother? Bah hallmark humbug.

I’m OK with Mothers Day as an appreciation of all mothers, because it’s not just a day Hallmark promoted which is redundant with other existing appreciations. It’s not like Valentine’s Day…lovers have plenty of arranged chances to appreciate on another already.

My cat apparently has access to FK (or Facebook, because I posted it there too) — she gave me a look like “Hey, watch this, human who likes to make light of cats”, and did an homage to the Puking Kitty Saucy Boat into my shoes this morning. Fortunately they were Keen water sandals so no harm done.

In the 9th inning of the Cubs/Nationals game, Suzuki tried to throw a runner out at third but the ball hit the bat as he released and it went way down the left field line nowhere near third base.

I was cleaning my entire house during the game thread, so that the neighbors who are thinking of buying it can come take a look at it. They were going to come around 4:30ish. They called at 3:30 to say they were running a little late. Uh….

And they just left. Oy. I’m really not too enthused about having them as my landlords. They’re nice people but they have no sense of boundaries. But, since I had to clean the place up, or at least move things around sufficiently that we could all walk through the tiny rooms of this cottage, I’ve got a bit of a start on packing up to move back to the East Bay if I can find someplace decent.

I was just given a bottle of beer that claims to be 1000 IBU. That’s crazy.
That’s almost an order of magnitude higher than anything I’ve seen. Not sure I buy it.

And yet you can go to any town in the bay area and not be the least bit surprised that they have their dog in tow?
One of my parents’ neighbors routinely walks his cat. On the street. Off leash.
My neighbor’s cat greets him when he gets home, and follows him around in his front yard, almost like a small dog. Then when he leaves, the cat comes over and pisses on the front of my truck.
I have an indoor cat who occasionally gets some carefully supervised backyard time. We got a leash for her too, but it doesn’t really work.
That’s what we do sans leash. We had to net up the entire fence to keep one of them in. She’s a fking Houdini. Luckily the other two flip out when she escapes to help point it out.
My cat is really cautious when she’s outside, so it’s pretty easy to keep tabs on her. On the other hand, she did jump off the (second story) balcony the other day.
My other two are like that. They’re not terribly comfortable being out there if I’m not around.
