1. lower case grover is mad*
2. Capital Grover is crazy
3. Comeback kid
4. EC gets more exposure
5. Sorry if any of this has been posted, I have been working for a few days straight. I just marked all comments as read. That’s how important you people are to me.
Dammit, I thought this was the Witch’s first post and it literally would be mad libs.
Ms. Jesa’s first post should be a Mad Lib post/thread. That way it could work and integrate everybody over a 24 hour cycle rather than be a 1am-3am drunken Lounge-type-thing.
there is a book of mad libs sitting next to the computer.
It’s better when one makes them up completely, rather than takes them out of a book.
I was __(verb)___-ing a mountain when out of a __(adjective)__ __(noun)__ stepped ElCroata, carrying a giant __(noun)__ and sternly warning us, “Whichever one of you __(plural noun)__ Slussered me is going to get a __(noun)__ in the __(noun)__!”
or something like that…
You weren’t alone. Then I saw it was ED and was disappointed.
ED usually is disappointing, except maybe to cuckolds and their promiscuous wives.
I like our punk-rock-style-lawyer friend, though.
I don’t gt why there are so many ads for me on TV.
4. Hardball Talk… CSNBA… I fully expect to see it on Yahoo towards the end of next week, ‘cuz they’re usually late to the party.
I think that marking all comments as read can be a sign of respect.
It’s sure as hell a lot nicer than marking all comments “FK that noise” or “I can’t go for that (no can do)”
Oooh… I kind of like “FK that noise”
I thought this was going to be political.
(Okay, it kind of is, but still)
Excellent piece: The death of the sports interview
Keown misses one key part. It’s not just that information is delivered in instant 140 character bits now. It’s also that few people write, publish, or read long form pieces about athletes anymore either. So there’s no interchange and follow-up with the athlete to drill down to something interesting…your story is pinned around the two or three useful quote you got from the press conference, and not the day you spent with the athlete getting him/her to open up a bit. The player has no incentive, and neither does the writer, because no one’s paying for that anymore anyway.
That’s true, too. There’s a big difference between postgame press conferences/interviews and features. The things I did on AN were most definitely features in comparison and are a lot more than a brief soundbyte.
I’m too tired to be mad.
Besides, how angry can I get at the possibility of signing someone to (essentially) a minor league deal?
And today in famous people behaving badly:
1. Aldon Smith takes a DUI bust in Miami.
2. Sierra Blanca, TX is the celebrity dope bust capital of America! Willie NElson, Snoop Dogg, and now young actor and spoiled rich kid Armie Hammer. Also noted dickhead Steven Seagal has signed on to be a deputy.
There’s no way I’m watching seven whole minutes of this trick shot stuff, but the first minute is worth watching for the abuse of the SF Giants hat. Also, it’s creepy how much young Preston Mattingly looks like a teen slacker version of dad Donnie.
How in Ba’al’s name did this piece not get titled “Yes we can”?
srsly
So FKing cool. I wish I had the org skills/balls to do this when I was a kid.
excellent
That’s a great story
It really is.
My dad and I used to shoot GI Joes thousands of feet into the air with miniature homemade replica Civil War mortars.
A little more retro than sending things into space, but still fun…
DFWAS
It’s not too likely their investigation would be unbiased. Fortunately Peoria is in Maricopa County so Sheriff Joe could be called in as an objective third party to handle it.
JL’s next gig? Slate.
