Saturday July 23rd, A’s/Rays.
Pre-game tailgate, 6pm game, post-game fireworks to music from “Day on the Green” performers.
Still lots of tickets available, from $18 Value Deck to $40 special package with commemorative blanket.
I’ll bring a keg.
Who’s in?
If this is His will, He's a son of a bitch.
i want to be. thinking value deck because it will be easier to stay and watch from there, but don’t really care.
but i am only 80% in
I’m 50-50. I stupidly let Primera get tix to “Blacklight Slide” in San Jose that night and am on the hook to drive her. Might try to work out attending the tailgate but not the game.
I think we can make it that day, will confirm once we get tickets.
Unlikely since I am now an even bigger NRAF, and because I may be going to part of a concert the following day down here. (Howard Jones-HELL YEAH!! OMD-sure, why not. Barenaked ladies-I will beat all sorts of traffic leaving before the headliner).
My god who put that bill together??
The only Day on the Green I ever went to was Metallica, Queensryche, Soundgarden and Faith No More. People were pulling up chunks of sod and throwing them around the field. I’m sure the A’s loved that. Although I did work the load out of a Metallica/Guns N Roses one year when I was working at BGP.
I’m curious what bands they will include in the music. My friend who grew up in the Bay Area has told me of going to a Day on the Green featuring Wham!, the Pointer Sisters and Katrina and the Waves.
Actually the listing of shows is pretty interesting. There seems to be an overabundance of Blue Oyster Cult.
I’ll miss the tailgate, I think, unless I can re-work the plans I’ve already scheduled. :(
They should just play the Dead’s whole second set from 6/8/74.
That is exactly what I said. I got in my mind a year or two ago that I would like to see Howard Jones. Not so much that I would go to great lengths, but if he was in CA, and I was available, etc.
So I saw he was playing and was like great lets do it. Then I thought “I should see who else is playing”. I assumed it would be an old timers show where he headlined and had some young nobody open and that was it.
Needless to say when I saw the bill I just stared at the computer. I have never left before a headliner in my life, but I have yet to come up with a reason to stay. An, if im being honest, it is actually making me hold off on buying my ticket.
If it’s not expensive I’d probably take a chance and go for nostalgia’s sake and just leave before the headliner. I looooooved Howard Jones when I was like 13! In fact, I went to see him at Red Rocks when I was a teenager and he did this whole mime show about animal slaughterhouses, and that was a big part of why I went vegetarian.
also, OMD: better, less cloying, and more science-obsessed experimental than anybody remembers.
Oh they are right in my wheelhouse too!
yes, this!
Soooooooooooo … anyone up for this?
I was actually going to respond today to say I don’t think we’re going to make it after all. Maybe a memorial service/ritual cleansing late in the season?
Not looking good for me either. Summer is busy exhausting me. Saturday Sept 3 is another 6pm start, but on Labor Day weekend. Sun Sept 25 is the home finale at 1pm…breakfast tailgate, anyone?
it seemed like so far in the future.
I still don’t know, you have tickets?
Not yet, no.
