Because there aren’t too many songs I can think of mentioning Arlington, Alice…Dallas Alice.
This lineup faces the Rangers’ Chi Chi Gonzalez. ¡Ãndale! ¡Ãndale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba!
Burns CF, Sogard 2B, Zobrist LF, Reddick RF, Butler DH, Davis 1B, Lawrie 3B, Phegley C, Semien SS behind Chavez P.
Adrian Beltre is off the DL and in the Texas lineup for the first time since May 31.
11-pitch AB to lead off, after falling behind 0-2, is fine by me.
I don’t like to whine too much about the balls/strikes, but ball four to Fielder is called strike three quite a bit more often than not. It cost Chavez some extra pitches in the Texas heat.
Shoulda beena strike-’em-out-throw-’em-out.
This umpire flips a coin on low and away pitches.
Soaker would be my top choice for the FKer who has been to all of Tucson, Tucumcari, Tehachapi and Tonopah.
I don’t think I’ve ever been to eastern New Mexico. You’d have to be on some major cross-country driving trip to hit Tucumcari. The rest of them, sure, many times.
I’d a been willin to bet that too.
Billy “wheels” Butler
I’m calling you out for being a fat slob regardless.
I am not a slob.
There goes the appetite.
Hey, somehow the A’s are winning!
Boy, that didn’t take long.
Yeah, maybe I’ll shut up now.
No, wait, better idea:
Hey, somehow the A’s are losing!
With JCS over 80 pitches in the 5th inning, I’m afraid any reverse jinxing is wasted tonight.
yup
Hey, nothing whatsoever has changed!
vince is terrible.
that is all
i just feel like I am being lectured by a guy who thinks he knows more than everyone. it’s be palatable if he actually did know more.
As I was driving home listening I thought that now is the time to start contacting the A’s to say hey, please get a new broadcaster ready for next year, as the backup if Ken’s back or as the main guy if Ken cannot return. One call or email per week from even a dozen committed Vince-haters could be significant.
done
twitter account. and, just quote him with strategic @’s. no added commentary.
ooo good
New use for the FK acct
just thinking that
I’ve always thought of Vince as a more successful Toonces.
exactly
dumb luck
Scribbles demoted back to middle-innings long man, I see.
fk yeah! walks!
My first real job was at a restaurant called Chi-Chi’s.
I just read a click bait article today of “x# of restaurants that arent around anymore” and it included Chi-Chis.
I fucking loved Chi-Chi’s.
I still love chi chis.
This is Arlington. Anything can happen.
Arlington Texas: Where your wildest alcoholic nightmare is just everyday life.
not a nightmare tonight. every win is gravy
Means the path to victory tonight has to be a 14-13 Arlington Special.
wyclef, is that you?
woohoo
vince. for the love of bal, call the action
I’m sure he has a lot of words about shut-down innings tonight.
From the Rangers fan who brought us “Kitten Face”:
A’s squad? because otherwise…uh wow.
If you read it as “bull penis coming in to face the ass quad” it might make some sense.
That’s how I read it.
I loved facing the ass quad during breaks at college
Am I missing something else there? I’ve spent the last several minutes trying to divide this up various ways.
Whenever I am near the ass quad at FSU I realize I should go back to college.
I believe that’s what Grubes intended.
Bull penis coming into face the ass quad.
After all the games that Lil Homie has pitched great and got 0 support it would be nice to get him a W here.
vince seems confused as to why scribbles is not the 8th inning guy
Well Ed that wouldnt be consistent if he wasnt in the 8th. And consistency is something that we need. The reality is Scribbles the Gopher Feeder is the 8th inning man.
creating opportunities for success
My BFF’s father was in a work truck and was hit by a train today. Broken ribs and a broken collar bone. Walked away.
BAMF
Seriously, Norris-ian.
Scribner in now and for the bottom part of the order? Interesting.
I’ll take a double or better here, Zobs.
Better FTW.
That was fairly successful. However, it seems like Billy is trying to drive the Zobrist price higher and the way this year is going I’m terrified he’ll be out-for-the-season first.
Excellent. Hopefully that “for Harper straight up” request seems more reasonable now.
so why the fuck didn’t they trade for him and escobar in the off season?
another hawaiian kid wearing 5-0?
[puts away the pakalolo]
I know I’m a dreamer, and I know how far back we are, but I would love to get 1-2 good relievers and give these guys a chance.
I aint heard no fat lady.
We know you’re a dreamer, but your heart’s of gold.
you’re not the only one
What is it they have left to trade for the “good relievers”? Wendle and Nolin I guess? Right now it feels like it needs a blow it up and start over more than ever.
EOF and sogard for papalbon
I said “get”. In my dream we find them-some combo of moving Z into the pen, Pat comes back and one of Otero or Cook figures it out.
But yeah, that was my thought as I read the tweet. This isnt a young team everywhere that we can try to ride and we dont have a stacked farm system so unless we go on a 20-0 tear I dont see how we can tempt fate.
(but I want to)
throw in gentry and otero!
Also, in Sept Doolittle comes back. IT WILL BE LIKE TRADING FOR A CLOSER!!!
I think I’d add much better defense and one of a left fielder/shortstop/second baseman to that list.
SS, please.
build confidence, drink
high sliders are sub optimaal fernando
Suck it, CJ Wilson.
Should be fun watching Bob try to navigate the 8th and 9th if he doesn’t use Clippard. Mujica as the closer? Hoo boy.
I’m thinking Mujica and Pom Pom? I bet he goes to Clip joint for at least 2 outs.
pom for gallo/fielder?
I don’t know this Mujica person, but when I see his name I read it as “‘Murica!”.
FK yeah.
Looks like Pomeranz is the designated detonator tonight.
BOOBIES
and
FK you, Team Dynamite
vince, tyler clippard is not an elite reliever. he is not a “closer” in the classic sense. he will not really be missed
Anyone in the pen who gets more outs than runs most of the time would be missed.
LOL
should i be rocking in a fetal position?
you’ll have more fun rocking on the gg beat.
It must be nice to be a fan of a team with a competent bullpen.
been there. done that. complained about ace starters and middle infields. nice is relative.
Put in Ike Davis.
the fk?
As if you’ll be shocked by what’s about to happen…
heh
“What is ‘the last thing you want to hear at the proctologist’s office,’ Alex.”
I am shocked…for now
They have a Bobblehead Night crowd, want to give their fans a walk-off win.
an odd site i frequent where i never know what they’re talking about nor they what i, but that’s not important right now.
apropos, good thing japan is on the other bracket because their goalie is not gonna hack somebody 18 yards out from the goal (not that it scored anyway) nor volleyball-dig one into her own net.
i think i am adopting japan as my rooting interest
they look like they know what they’re doing.
Should I be laughing?
Never in doubt.
Just once it would be nice to add on a run or 20.
naturally the lead off batter gets on
DP!
Drew Pomeranz!
I don’t believe what I just heard!!!
Heh, the most improbable win of the season.
Pomeranian for closer!
” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen>
That was pleasantly surprising. A’s have won 7 of last 9, which also surprises me. Probably because Friday felt like a 10 game losing streak all in one night.
that game still pisses me off
I’m still pissed off from 2002.
1988
IDGAF about that. I was pooping my pants still then.
Are we still the worst in the AL? Checks… EAT IT RED SOX!!!!
Reading this thread I’m not sure how the A’s won this game with 99% of the comments being Golden Eeyore worthy.
Day 14 complete, I head home tomorrow. Oakland had a 9-4 record while I was bouncing around Cali but I’m ready to sleep in my own bed again. And kiss my wife.
Nearly 2000 miles driven, 3 fires and 150+ hours of OT.
I also got a temporary promotion to go work near SLO as a captain for 3 months!
awesome. great news all around. except 3 of those losses
The A’s bullpen is something else. I refuse to entertain the hope of a 2nd half surge unless/until the relief corps gets upgraded.
Yet I’m opposed to Beane investing trade capital on the pen.
I have issues…
I thought RJ Alvarez was going to be a stud. Turns out allowing 4 HR/9 IP with a bunch of walks is not a good way to start off the season. Still think he could turn it around.
Cook/Abad are broken. Venditte seems all right so far. Ryan Dull should at least be at AAA, because he looks good. FRod has a 1.91 FIP, while Scribner has a 2.58 xFIP. Pom has pitched well as a reliever.
I absolutely believe Alvarez will figure it out. Cook is, but I hold out hope that Abad isn’t.
Scribner hit a slump but he should bounce back.
I just can’t find the motivation to research RP trade options when the record is what it is.
Can I have $5?
Yes.
I love SLO.
Stop by a little store called the Sock Drawer downtown. My friend Beau owns it.
Thanks, and go As.
I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks.
This seems like it’s a store that sells sex stuff. That name just seems seedy.
Nope, just socks.
Badass socks, but just socks.
Thanks, and go As.
ben’s right. this one is clearly labeled for a different appendage.
So this recent burst of relative success makes me think that Beane will wait another 3-4 weeks before deciding whether to trade Zobrist, Kazmir, and Clippard. What do we think the A’s record needs to be over that stretch for him to hold on to those guys? If he does hold on to them, does that automatically mean he also adds at least one more reliever, or is there a scenario where he just sits on his hands?
@GM
I don’t think there’s any way Beane sits on his hands; he might be physically incapable of NOT swing some kind of deal.
If Beane isn’t liking the offers he’s getting he’ll hold on to Clippard/Zobrist/Kazmir. In that scenario I can see him trading for a RP or two but he’d pay to get guys that will still be under team control after 2015.
