This is the matchup that produced a 9-2 Athletics victory last Wednesday…their last win, in fact.
The A’s lineup is similar, with Gentry replacing Canha.
Fuld CF, Semien SS, Vogt C, Butler DH, Davis 1B, Reddick RF, Lawrie 3B, Sogard 2B, Gentry LF.
The A’s and their fans welcome old friend Angel Hernandez, who draws the home plate assignment tonight.
Hernandez just reread the Rev’s article and said it wasn’t that bad. Then he said Adam Rosales had to stay at second base, which I dont get at all…
He doesn’t have the arm to play short. Duh.
What are we having for dinner? I’m having an order of RR tavern fries and a deli sandwich (havent decided what type yet..)
7 allergy pills, a Twix, hot tea with a shot of grandpa’s cough syrup, and a couple controlled substances.
Hi
Most likely.
DFA recipe pasta for me
I arrived home to a mama-daughter collaboration potato, broccoli and mushroom gratin that was deeeeeeelicious.
pizza. made it myself
Let’s go, Oakland.
BOOBIES
So very, very Panther.
Yuck.
OK, bags juiced. A big hit here and we knock Weaver right off that all-time best vs A’s ERA list graphic they just showed.
Or at least putting him behind Fritz Peterson, which would have pleased monkeyball greatly.
No one wants to be behind Fritz Peterson.
Well, if this were a Royals game, the home team would be getting all butt-hurt about now.
Reddick retaliation!
SCHLONG
boom
Reddick at-bat, bases loaded, two-outs — what could possibly go right?
Davis looked over eager in his AB, Reddick waited on a curve and hit a long single into the gap.
The whole world is topsy-turvy.
Yeah baby!
Josh Reddick: actually a good hitter?
Relax. It’s only been 50 PA — he’ll slump soon enough.
Probably, but I’ll still vote yes.
He does have the third best position player WAR on the team so far (behind Vogt and Davis), despite having fewer PA.
But it looks like fangraphs just turned on their first UZR update of the season and WAR values are kind of wonky.
Semien is on pace for a historically bad defensive season (UZR/150 is -40 runs!!)
he can do it
Ben Zobrist has a -122.8 UZR/150 in LF (and a -57.6 at 2b). Those are the two positions he’s played the most. He has -6 fielding runs on the year so far.
He’s currently at -0.7 WAR, worst player on the team.
10-11 WAR over 3+ years with the A’s (only about 2.5 years worth of plate appearances, because of injuries and platooning).
That’s a pretty good player. Some of the value is his defense, but it’s not like he’s a Fuld/Gentry glove-only type either.
for 2 years of bailey
Good numbers last year… I just ask because it sure seems like he should be bad.
I’m still a Reddick believer
As of right now, bbref users have voted him the 1,440th best position player of all time. 1,439 is Ben Grieve.
Nearly 100 spots behind Cody Ross (#1357, but obviously the Greatest Giant of All Time)
How the hell is Barry Bonds at #116 on that list? It’s almost like an internet poll produced unreliable results or something.
You’ve convinced me.
Yes.
and lawrie
butera was a witness to a throw em out
When I think of how the season has not really gone well to this point, I smile and think how much worse it would be if Norris were the every day catcher.
I can haz outs plz?
no
Is number 12 for the Slegna the son of David Eckstein?
Bernie Sanders is gonna run for president.
Sweet.
Thanks, and go As.
Sanders vs Cruz!
vince made an announcement about Doolittle I think? was doing dishes.
He cautioned that the pitcher only threw fastballs, which made me doubt it was Doolittle because I was pretty sure he doesn’t have another pitch
I didn’t hear it (I’m still at work) but could it have been Parker? He’s making his second start in Stockton tonight.
Doolittle threw a bullpen session today, I think.
That was it exactly. FB only bullpen for Doo. Attended by Billy, Curt, BoMel, Uncle Lew, and like 2 asst GMs.
Pretty much everyone but Connie Mack was there.
Also, they all reminded us that basically this becomes Doo’s first throwing session of spring training, so he wont be back tomorrow.
So help me out everyone. When we have had someone out like this, about how long is it until they go on rehab and then get up to Oakland?
Not gonna lie, I’m looking at Nashville coming to Fresno at the end of May and thinking I may need to buy the whole series to cheer on Sean.
A reliever doesn’t need to gear up to throw 90 pitches. If they didn’t think he’d be ready around the middle of May he’d be on the 60-day DL.
The A’s and good DL strategy don’t always go well together
This is true. And I will be very happy to not see him here because he is already in Oakland.
Nice job by CSNCA to FK up the count on Vogt.
Canha, Muncy and Ross is a sort of useless bench. How can Ross still be around with the lack of a backup middle infielder?
who?
This is good to confirm: in the future we wil have forgot he played for us.
Well, he’s no Casper Wells or Kila Ka’aihue, that’s for sure.
In the Athletics Pantheon Cody’s spot is right next to Luke Hughes’.
Luke Hughes at least hit a home run or two
We had three Australians for a minute, didn’t we?
Not for the A’s. He had one single in 13 AB. He did contribute 3 errors, however.
Thinking of Brandon Hicks maybe?
why would anyone think that?
I get those two confused too.
So many Brandons and so many Australians that year.
I was thinking of Luke Montz
Whoa. I had definitely forgotten about him.
what? that is like forgetting about matt Watson. or carson
He’s more of a Kevin Melillo to me
I always remember Kila. If for no other reason than his name is so fun to say.
Every time Lawrie cuts in front of Semien to make a play, it makes me think of The Bad News Bears: “Does he go to the bathroom for you, too?”
I repeat:
SCHLONG
Weaver could not have served that one up to him any better.
he is great v soft tossing righties
Looks like Sogard expected to be called off on that one
That was an ugly dive by Gentry. Just glad he didn’t get hurt there
…that we know of yet.
That slide was gritty as a motherFKer.
RICKEY IN PINSTRIPES
BURN IN HELL CSNCA
Any fan who can get 3 outs before giving up 4 runs, please report to the left field bullpen.
Just 4 to tie would be a welcome change.
This game is just flying along.
It’s 9:11? Is Mulder pitching?
It’s a shame he never pitched for the Dodgers.
Mulder on the mound, Scully in the press box…
You’d need to get Jim Leyland into the dugout somehow.
Solid.
mulder’s replacement was named after the Dodgers #3 guy in the 70s/80s, Jerry Doggett.
Chris Carter said scully’s character was named after Vin scully.
pfft. chris carter. like that’s a baseball name.
#catchestouchdowns
I totally should’ve added Carter to that. Maybe I will later.
Scribbles-Closer in waiting?
That was a sweeeeeeet curveball to Freese.
good morning, good afternoon, good night
hehehe..Good night.
that happens when the only base runners were in the first
It’s really going to be enjoyable (already is) watching Pujols for the next 15 or however many years.
glad Melvin goes witht he best reliever
Scribbles!
Wonderful conquest, females of the canine family.
heh
Twice sin, witches.
Great.
Work ever just piss you off? So I decided three days I need off in July should be 14 now. For fun.
I apparently decided 2 and a half months or so…
