AV has now been banned from Russia.
AV has now been banned from the 1980’s Soviet Union as well.
AV has now been banned from all Yakov Smirnoff shows in Branson.
as long as i get to keep my smirnoff ice.
We’ll just have to see how it goes…you’re on thin Smirnoff ice at the moment.
i thought it was pronounced commie republic.
A’s game to be joined in progress following the conclusion of Cal football, a game that’s going to end with a score something like 87-85.
Nice goal-line stand by the Golden Bears.
Prediction: with his unstoppable offense, Sonny Dykes does three straight draw plays into the line, to now set up his kicker for a 42 yard field for the win.
With their third win of the season, Cal clinches their annual battle with the Raiders, “which of the East Bay’s awful football teams will win more games?”
I think during half in the AZ nightmare, I talked myself into how Cal could be 5-0 heading into the UCLA game, and with a few lucky breaks (Hundley out), maybe even 7-0 into the Oregon game.
1.5 halves later, I think there is maybe one win left for them on their remaining schedule.
I think on Urban Dictionary the “Scratched Holland” involves a dominatrix and a whole lot of lube.
On a bed of tulips.
Holland’s migraine has to be great fodder for conspiratorially-minded Mariners.
There’s your run Sammy.
Jay. Dee.
JD wants it.
and now he can go back to the barber to finish that haircut.
JD go BOOM
Rain in TX. Is it too early to count outs? 27 to go.
No.
3-0 Chisox.
Should we be concerned that Sharks is topping out at 92 mph and throwing mostly 90 & 91 mph?
I’ll answer, and say yes.
dammit
Get your shit together Sammy.
OK, so a classic TX game. I like this kind of party.
This seems destined to be an alcoholic game. Nightmare or wet dream TBD.
Agreed with FSU. The pilot is about to unlock the hard booze cart on Aces airlines.
I was drinking beer all afternoon (Saturday pickup softball, super fun, folks should join us some time). So now I’m switching to Bulleit Rye.
Fucking BABIP
If your pizza is being shown coming off a conveyor belt, I don’t think you should be focusing on the quality.
Out.
Very quick overturn too. They’re getting faster with this.
when it’s obvious it’s obvious. (ahem, 2b ump.)
Maybe the calls on the field are just getting worse?
The boys in the review booth in NYC, having not been bribed sufficiently by Big Mariner, agree.
OK. Time to remember its Scott Baker.
Now that looks like a good time party savior I can get on board with.
By editing his comments, 5Aces can make replies look like total non sequiturs.
Suddenly I’m losing my religion.
I didn’t think the pic showed up.
huh? did it used to say jim baker?
I didn’t think the pic showed up.No, its a pic of Smardzjesus. Best savior since Buddy Jesus.
Let’s Go, Angels clap, clap, clapclapclap
Smardzjesus has forsaken us.
classic answer record reference!!
sammy dead o?
jesus say sammy dead
jesus say sammy dead
jesus say sammy dead
he no dead though.
Six run A’s mojo.
FSU find Brian.only. I have $20 for a month or so of internet. I want that dudes mojo…
he is on facebook
Not sure what is more disconcerting — that the offense cannot score against Scott Baker, or Samardzija’s 4-5mph drop in velocity.
Are we winning?
It would be nice if Lowrie gets on a hot streak right about now. Almost a home run, then a line drive single.
And now Baker is out. Lefty in to face Vogt.
Hopefully the A’s will outscore my Jayhawks today.
Bob Geren/Any coach ever > Charlie Weis
Except in mass.
KU likes fat football coaches…we also like really bad ones.
I’m pretty sure this means the next KU coach will be Rob Ryan. The beard, long hair, and massive beer gut should help on the recruiting trail.
Freiman hitting for Vogt. Can’t argue.
Well, that was a crappy outcome, even if a run scored.
M O J O
Hey hey!
You work fast.
Also BRIAN! One of the finest cut jibs on the FK.
It’s good to see that at least one Brian on this site is worth a damn.
the returning mojo that turns it all around!
YAY!!!!
Is Holland gonna pitch tomorrow?
My Rangers informants tell me it’s a definite maybe.
Can I ask you more about your inside sources?
Okay, but I’ll never reveal their names…I’m the Woodward & Bernstein of A’s related baseball blogging.
Has Vogt had a hit this month?
Hey, can one of you Facebook-enabled folk confirm for me that DFA is not dead? Just wondering.
funny. thought of him yesterday and did as you suggest. results, alive and talking about shitting the bed.
He actually posted after the last walk off with a simple message.
Better than you think.
If anybody cares I’ve actually been dead since 1997.
he is on ello
Is Smererjedmazda one of those pitchers who pitches just well enough to lose?
he was great last time.
Don’t give me facts…I only want things that continue the fake narrative I’ve set up.
Soto should start in the playoffs.
he could be a difference maker against KC.
Just as I predicted at the beginning of the season.
I’m secure enough in my masculinity to say I want to have Soto’s babies.
There is no want…we either do or we don’t have Soto’s babies.
Damn. This fking team…
More like that fking guy.
you gotta fix hip to hit square, i always say.
It’s been half an hour and the mojo isn’t kicking in.
Do you think we should take another one?
I just opened a new bottle of Perrier so I’m doing my bit for God and country.
i don’t know. it’s a little old. it could make us all speedy.
but maybe we should eat some rally caps.
Didn’t Moss have around the same 81 RBI total in like July?
9 since Aug 1st. So basically, yes.
Wow…that’s amazing in a totally awful sort of way.
He has all of 15 RBI since the all-star break. 174/316/273
I love Moss. He has been one of my favorite parts of this run of success.
Should he be on the playoff roster?
I guess it depends on how hurt he really is…he sure hasn’t done much lately.
Probably.
Seattle down by 1…Detroit down by 7…Royals down by three…Chelsea Clinton gave birth…U.S. Wins War in Pacific
If the A’s have to win tomorrow’s game Melvin should show them DeNiro’s baseball bat speech from The Untouchables.
Part. Of. A. Team.
No Glen. We’re not fking cheering for him.
We’re cheering AT him?
We rooting against the M’s.
I myself have nothing against the letter M…now that bastard the letter R though must go down and it must go down hard.
Wow. Bob is seriously trying his best to maximize our GIDP potential.
Oh great. Craptastico.
GIDP coming right up.
I have to admit that I’m surprised that Reddick is going to end up with a higher BA than either Coco or Donaldson.
It feels like I’ve seen more pinch hitters in the past month than over the entire last decade of A’s baseball. What the hell, Bob?
I guess Melvin is going to use the entire 40 man roster tonight…I think the next pinch hitter will be Vance Law.
Close. Lance Blankenship.
That’s a good call…Lance has been tearing it up in RBI Baseball ’93.
Sotomania!
soto can motorboat.
Enhanced that for you.
Nick Punto at bats are for lovers.
Is this the Ryder Cup Game Thread?
If I have to sit around rooting for the slegnA after a loss so the A’s can back into the playoffs, I will not be a happy camper.
But I’ll do it. This team is painful.
You folks who watch this team night after night are tougher than I am. This team is hard to watch is small doses so I can’t imagine seeing every game.
At this point I’m looking forward to spring training more than October…but re-check after they win the wild card game and Game 1 of the Division Series.
That’s the Nick Punto I remember and hope to soon forget.
Ok, it has happened too many times this year. I leave we come back. So go get this FKin wild card for me guys. Do it for LD, do it for thecrap interference call, and do it for donkey.
Do it for love.
Samardzija definitely doesn’t have good velocity tonight. It makes a big difference, in part because there isn’t as much difference between the velocity on his fastball and breaking pitches.
It’s a little concerning. That last fastball was 89.
Change that to very concerning.
I wonder if he’s at or near a career high for innings pitched? Maybe he’s just wearing down a bit.
Is that the first sub-90 mph fastball Samardzija has thrown all year?
Still 1-0 Rancho Cucamonga after four.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I was thinking Melvin better pull him after this inning. Too late.
Time to root for the slegnA.
From the very first pitch, it was pretty clear Samardzija did not have it tonight. And frankly, if he is indeed a hurt, making the playoffs is only a formality.
It’s felt like a formality for a while now. But I would still rather them make it than not.
Well, that was a back breaker.
That last high fastball, which Samardzija has thrown in the high 90s pretty consistently: 91.
The A’s do know the Rangers fucking suck…right?
Oakland Professional Sports: Disappointing me since 1989.
Coco needs to stop swinging at those high fastballs. All he does is hit harmless fly balls.
I see that the A’s game is on the same time as the Raiders game tomorrow. If you hear load groans coming from the South tomorrow that would be me.
Gomes got a hit!
How many Rangers have pitched in this game…20?
New Ranger reliever to face Norris?
Those saying the Slegna have nothing to play for are clearly overlooking the fact that they know they should do whatever they can to draw the A’s.
That might have been a mistake by the Rangers manager, but I don’t have much confidence in Moss.
I think the Rangers interim manager gets paid by the number of pitching changes.
Now would be a good time for a Moss HR.
This Rangers reliever has a good slider and he once killed his parents with his brother.
Who knew swinging a little kid around by his ankles and spinning could be so lethal?
Samardzijesus compels you not to lose hope!
Tell the A’s if they win this game I’ll spring for Ovaltine for the entire team.
I have about as much confidence in Reddick as any non-Donaldson A’s hitter, which is saying something weird.
hell of a slide.
I was wrong the first time. Gomes was there first.
Slegna about to strand Kendrick at 3rd, who reach there with no outs.
Totally unforgivable. What kind of team would do something like that?!?
let’s go oakland!!
Let’s Go Russia!
can’t. i’m banned.
Yep…in your face, pal.
Interesting teAse…
They can say what they want. Donaldson is hurting badly.
Keep it going.
“pinched hit”.
GAH.
AARGH
Warning.Track.Power.
sorry KK. i didn’t buy that for a second.
DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT
How do the A’s keep letting Callaspo bat in
importantsituations???Glen on Samardzija: “His stuff was as good as always.”
Gawd…
Slegna simultaneously strand Kenrick at home.
Also, I am afraid to look who is due up for Oakland next inning.
Soto, Punto, Crisp. Oh joy. Glen, not so fast, tomorrow may not be the last game of the regular season.
Not that it means much, but they have Sogard hit for Punto.
Sogard started the game. Punto hit for him.
Sogard is so bad the Rangers don’t mind if he comes back into the game.
Well fuck.
quick. someone talk shit about crisp.
technically he’s right. game 163 is the only game of the irregular season.
Nope. Still part of the regular season.
not for me. i shop at marshall’s.
‘k guys, big lesson here. if’n when that girlfriend who’s been paying your rent breaks up with you, and she’s then taking care of your storage while you couch surf / job hunt for 10 months, chip in, even if just once in a while. especially if she’s best friends with my wife.
otherwise i end up with ALL your records. jesus lizard, shellac, mogwai, june of 44, a bunch of touch n go bands i don’t know (yet), even your bob wills/texas playboys. all of them, you abusive pill poppin’ asshole.
This sounds more exciting than the current A’s game.
Put on Shellac at Action Park right now, and the A’s will most likely win this one.
is that the new one? the one i just got is terraform.
and you’re not far off. the last runs came just after mrs AV walked in with that box and my eyes went all googly.
Action Park is the first one. The new one is called “Dude Incredible”.
They both kick much ass.
Terraform is good too, although the 11+ minute opening repetitive drone track might not be everybody’s cup of tea…
ha! i’ve just been listening to 8 minutes of a locked groove on this record. didn’t even know it. drone is going to be like dance music now.
Things that will also help the A’s win this game…a time machine…a sacrificed ChickenStanley…Good hitters…GRIT…bunts nothing but bunts…PEDs…Jessica Tandy.
as long as Witchy gets us some Eye of Dick Green, I think this spell just might work.
Mariners fail to score in the 6th.
9 more outs.
Angels get out of first and third jam.
Through 6 in Seattle. Still 1-0. The Mariners really do suck against lefties, don’t they? They’re even worse than the A’s, if that’s possible.
We’re 13 – 7, they’re 9 – 11.
FK it. Time to go all-in:
and
Okay…I’m all in too. I’ll open up another bottle of Perrier.
YOU CAN’T GO ALL IN WITHOUT TRADING FOR A 2B-MAN!!!
I would let Soto hit. Someone needs to hit for Punto, though, unless it’s a bunt or something. And then if anyone gets on, someone needs to hit for Gomes.
PH Fuld for Punto, then if we get to Gomes it’ll be time for Anderson’s first AB.
This Rangers reliever has a good Palm Ball and he once guest starred on Murder She Wrote.
I would think that someone with a good Palm Ball would more likely guest star on Onanism She Insisted.
If I wasn’t a huge Josh Donaldson fan, his hair might bother me as much as Rodney’s stupid Fkin hat.
I’m more of a Sam Donaldson fan.
I’m more of a Zombie Peter Jennings fan.
He’s the most stylish zombie around.
But his hair bothers you, right?
Personally I’m bothered by anyone who has hair.
. hitting
me facepalming.
GAMER AND TOUGH GUY
Score one for grit. Burns. But that Ranger catcher has a gun.
Good Coco please…
Nick Punto is like…take that you muthafuckas.
Billy Burns is like… Oh, my bad.
I have no clue who the hell Billy Burns is…I hope to keep it that way.
dammit. sick burn.
fucking stupid
It’s what they get for running on that guy.
GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK…WHAT A DUMB STEAL ATTEMPT
Ray not happy.
With Coco’s walk, the Burns steal attempt looks even dumber.
If Melvin called that steal then I’m for getting a new manager.
Maybe instead of doing a bunch of PH’ing in the 6th inning you save a lefty batter for the end of the game, Bobo.
Well pigfuckin fuckity fuck.
the hell with it
First things first. Rip up play-in game tickets.
FIRE BOB MELVIN
It wouldn’t be the 2014 A’s if they didn’t make us root for the slegnA as a final fuck you.
Pretty much.
And just like that, it’s tied in Seattle.
This is not a team that deserve to celebrate right now. Get past the ALDS, then you can start celebrating.
I hate sports.
wwaap waaap waaaaaaaap.
Now to root FOR the Royals. Come back and be tied with Detroit.
Pretty remarkable that neither Fosse nor Kuiper made not a single mention of the fact that Samardzija was throwing about 5mph slower on average than in all his other starts with Oakland.
They’re busy making golfing plans for the upcoming off-season.
I blame the chart & graph guy. He was off his game.
Okay, I’m over it…who wants another cocktail?
ooh! i’ll take a evian perrier with a splash of pellegrino!!
Okay, but if I make this drink for you then you have to promise not to drive tonight.
Calhoun, Trout, Pujols, and Freese all out of the game.
Oh, and the Mariners just tied the game, and now have the go-ahead run on 2nd with nobody out.
I hate everything about everything. Now let’s clinch on a Mariners’ loss while on the road well after our own loss. That would be the most appropriate way to clinch for this fucking team
Annnnd, Seattle tied it up.
Just remember it could be worse…we could all be Royals fans…oh wait.
I’m giving this game thread to AV and Josh Donaldson…Print Sandwich, Y’all.
i feel like the luckiest girl in the world!
Looks like all we can clinch right now is world champions of choking.
Bad: Fox’s prime time game of the week is Baylor at Iowa State.
Worse: Baylor leads by four … touchdowns.
Rage-inducing: Color guy just referred to ISU as Iowa.
Mariners didn’t score a second run. It’s tied, with the slegnA taking most of their starters out.
Dick move by the Angels.
If the A’s lose 6 out of 7 to the Rangers in the final two weeks, it doesn’t have anything to do with the way Scioscia manages his team.
No it doesn’t, but taking out 2/3rds of your starters in the seventh and eighth innings is a dick move. Oh yeah…that 20 minutes of rest is going to be HUGE!
I don’t mind resting of a few of your starters over the last couple of games in order to prep for the playoffs. That’s totally cool and expected. But pulling a ton of your starters late in a tie game that has playoff significance? Just fucking bullshit. Why not just tell your pitcher to balk in the run and go ahead and throw the game.
That’s what I’d want Melvin to do if the A’s and Angels’ positions were reversed.
It wouldn’t make it any less of a dick move. It’s actually worse than intentionally being shitty to move up in the draft. In this case it’s impacting the play off race.
Ok, but they have a direct interest, since there’s a 50% chance they play whichever of us makes it.
Makes no difference. That’s like saying it’s okay for Pete Rose to bet on baseball because he was betting on his team to win.
Well… I actually am not so far from that position.
But this isn’t that. The Angels’ goal is to win the WS. If they think the Mariners beating us out advances that goal, then they’ve earned the right to help that along.
Btw, those of you with wild card game tickets, the A’s are for sure not playing that game in Oakland.
If the A’s and Royals tie for the WC, it’s played in KC because they have the better head to head record?
Yes
There’s something pathetic and sad about watching the A’s sit there and watch the Mariner game, hoping to back in.
It’s worse than me doing it.
Seattle game tied, headed to the 9th.
For those who are curious, the A’s have now lost 30 of their last 45 games. Worst stretch during that span since the infamous 2nd half of 2008.
A’s are expecting Holland tomorrow. Oh, good.
Shawn O’Malley, you’re our best hope.
Don’t mind me as gragaragarasgafswfgrsgaWgb
my stream must be late.
I’m just early I guess
Swinging bunt, walk. Nobody out. Things looking good for Seattle.
Make that bases loaded, no outs for the Mariners.
Bases loaded, nobody out.
Oh Mariners. I turned off the A’s feed at this point and just checked in now.
oh no. the ambifutility continues. it could go all night. hope it bites shosha in the ass in some pitcher way i don’t have the patience to formulate.
LOL Mariners!
What a choke-off we have unfolding before us.
We’re still winning comfortably, right?
Who’s more pathetic? It’s a tough contest.
well i’ll be danged.
Wow, Mariners do not score with the bases loaded. Good thing the only Slega starters remaining are Ianetta (good), Cron (bad), and Cowgill (bad).
Extra innings. Fine if the Mariners lose. But shouldn’t the A’s be going home?
Why?
Something tells me the Mariners will finally do the impossible and score in this inning.
First and third. One out. Another excellent scoring opportunity for the Mariners.
Who is Vinnie Pestano? (It’s the Anaheim team’s new pitcher, in case you’re wondering. His job is to bail out the A’s season.)
Game, set, Mariners.
It’s time for the A’s to shit or get off the pot.
The shitty ex A hurts us again.
Time for the A’s to go back to the hotel and try to win a game. If they can’t, go to Seattle and win one there. If not, go down as truly wretched failures.
Well, I cannot believe it has come to do this, but I am going to start looking for tickets to game 163.
Apparently, they are not on sale yet.
I’m guessing, based on his last start and that fact that he would be on turn, that the Mariners would use Taijuan Walker to start Monday.
Yes, it would be Tai Walker. Chris Young is also a possibility.
Kind of a fitting ending for this if they get shut out by Walker.
My mantra about the A’s has always been that if they’re alive on the last day of the season, I’m satisfied. I may have to rethink that one.
Fucking Angels
No. The A’s have lost 5 of 6 to Texas, they can’t be begging Scioscia to help them into postseason.
It’s not about begging them to help them and more about them actually putting in the effort to try to win.
This. Sorry, but it is bullshit to run the “Fat Mike gets to do this because they won and hes so great” card. No one is suggesting he throw the game to let any one team in. But dont give me this “he can rest players” crap. Pulling someone in the 8th inning of game 161 isnt resting anyone.
Had he started the line up he ended with, I wouldn’t think him a dick for that specifically. He’d still be a dick because he just is one, but not specifically for doing that. In fact, he seemed to have waited for the A’s game to be final before doing it.
I can say this: At least its not grant green taking ABs instead of callaspo
The A’s are 6-15 in 1-run games since August 1.
In all other games they are 16-17.
I am not sure this matters, but if feels as though they are generally down by at least three runs at one point in many of these 1-run affairs. That is to say, it is not as if it is close throughout and they lose at the end. That may be complete bullshit though on my part, but that is what I am recalling at the moment.
a lot of teAse, for sure.
There certainly been a couple of them. There’s also been the we hold a lead to the 7th or later and then give up just enough to lose as well.
The injuries have robbed the A’s of a real chance at anything but a playoff spot and, at most, a division series win. (Hard to imagine them beating slegnA in their current state, though.)
But even a team as cursed with nagging injuries and some bad luck as the A’s have been shouldn’t fall apart so completely, so thoroughly. They have Gray pitching tomorrow, and Lester ready for a play-in game against someone who isn’t Felix on Monday.
Despite everything, they should at least make the play-in game and participate in the postseason even though being the fifth-best team in the league shouldn’t get you squat. So in that respect, the A’s are quite lucky.
This is a team that is playing scared in a way that goes beyond the injuries and exhaustion. A failure would certainly justify the blow-up job that’s coming in the offseason. This sort of collapse, if completed, would taint everyone connected to it (except Donaldson and the rentals).
So win the game.
I can not only imagine them beating the angels, but imagine it not being that tough. Yes, lefties have been tough on them, but Santiago and Wilson are just not that good and Weaver is a shell of his former self. Any of the pitchers have a good chance of dominating the Angel hitters.
Again, if they can remember to hit home runs, its fine.
That’s the weird thing about all of this…
You and I and EC all have the feeling that once they get in, there’s a huge weight lifted off their shoulders, and it’s on from there.
Hey damnit. Not only have I advocated that, I am now living it. I have 0 hope anymore. But if (when) we win today I will be right back to figuring out how to save for my WS tix.
I just got an assurance of employment (at least from October through February), so if this all works out, I want to go to Game 6. I hope a budget of $600 is good enough for two Mount Davis tickets and a rental car.
I’m watching the collapse and laughing at it all, thinking “We’ve got them right where we want them.”
So Holland is pitching tomorrow?
Slusser wrote that this is what the A’s expect. No confirmation that I’ve seen, though.
Maybe Seattle can get Richard Sherman to throw out the first pitch of game 163. Just trying to think of how this could suck even more.
If this gets to Monday and we win that, we have Hammel starting the flipping WC game.
Time for a hero to emerge!
No, Hammel is set for game 163, not the WC game.
No, Lester pitches 163. Hammel pitched on Thursday, no way he starts Monday over Lester.
Aw crap.
If it gets to Game 163, I don’t think it matters if they’re running Koufax out there. At that point the collapse would be complete.
ESPN has Oakland’s playoff odds at 92.7%. Gotta be the lowest it has been since sometime in June.
MLB has the Baseball Prospectus odds plotted throughout the season. They still think we’re 100% playoff and Seattle’s 0 — not updated with tonight’s results — we’ve been 90% or better since June 1.
Seems like it should be about 87.5%. 3 out of 4 combinations tomorrow get us there + a coin flip on Monday.
Probably taking into account win %, win % of opponents, win % against opponents and rolling those into the various 4 out of 6 outcomes.
That’s meaningless in a one-game season when the better opponent has nothing to play for. Also, Felix.
Yeah, frankly when you consider both Holland, Felix, the Slegna (or lack there of), seems like it should be much lower than that near 93%.
I actually doubt they take into account who’s pitching at all.
Those percentages are silly at this point. Felix should give Seattle a high likelihood of victory, especially against a slegnA team that doesn’t really care and doesn’t want to get anyone hurt in a meaningless game.
If the A’s face Holland, they’re in trouble. The likelihood of victory is a coin flip at best.
That means a combination of A’s loss/Seattle win seems pretty decent. A Monday game in Seattle? Another coin flip, with perhaps a slight advantage to the A’s because of Lester. But I don’t see how that gets the likelihood at anything close to 90 percent.
Are we all acting as if Gray and Lester suck ass? There’s two sides to the pitching scenario.
I’m not. But great starting pitching has not been enough to halt or even slow the collapse.
Oh. No playoffs yet? I stopped and talked to the one person at the festival who had on an A’s cap. Bastard told me they won.
Our guys just love baseball so much they want as many games as possible.
1 regular season, 1 tie-breaker, 1 wild card play-in, 5 alds, 7 alcs and 7 ws makes 22 to go.
You’re on board too, eh?
We will drive a playoff car that runs on biodiesel made from rendering Eeyore!
It’s not you, it’s me.
It’s not me, it’s you.
let’s just say you disagree to agree.
12-17 in Aug, 103 RS (3.55/G), 114 RA (3.93/G).
9-16 in Sep, 87 RS (3.48/G), 85 RA (3.40/G).
One more to go?
when you put it that way august makes more sense than september
The magic of losing a shit-ton of 1-run games with a couple of your wins being blowouts.
the anti-magic of little mistakes here and there on days when neither team was clearly dominant.
I queued up the 2008 college WS last night. Reddick might be mad but oh well.
#4 regional seed Fresno State makes it to the WS and gets super hot. The equivilent to a 13-16 seed making the finals. Playing a Georgia team led by Gordon Beckham (god they Jetered him the whole series). The bullpen gives up a late loss in game 1. Game 2 becomes a total bullpen game (should mention all of this is because ace Tanner Scheppers-can this get more AL West-was lost for the year with an arm injury that he could have come back from but choose not to). FSU quickly goes down 4-5 runs. ESPN announcers spend good 2 innings talking about how big a deal it was for Fresno to even get here.
Fresno comes back, takes the lead and wins. Sets up a game 3 where they actually have a healthy and somewhat rested starter. It becomes a coronation for underdogs to Wonderdogs.
None of this has anything to do with anything, but I see lots of wierd little things (Did I mention that FSU had a thing where they would PH every time for their Catcher because they had lots of catchers and played them all?) that connected for me. I’m really broken right now and I’m probably staying off the computer unless we win because I was already a douche bag after last night and no reason to suspect I would be better today. But no matter waht, as of 9:16 this morning I still have fAith and I love the GnG.
It appears as though Martinez is going to start today.
Then again, this team got contained by Scott fk’ing baker yesterday.
Yeah, but they weren’t… um… prepared. Yeah, that’s there excuse!
Man, Detroit has gotten the shit kicked out of it by the Twins this weekend. The Royals will be kicking themselves if they fall a game short and have to deal with Lester in a do-or-die. Speaking of, Royals fans might want to root for Mariners/Rangers today as much as Royals/Twins.
Haha the Astros got Twitter shamed into playing Altuve today.
Jose reyes says what?
My wife has the
Red Sox gameJeter fellating contest on.OMG OMG OMG I’m missing his last game, OMG OMG OMG, quick change the channel to not that!
Also, she was trying to drive back home from Central Mass on Friday afternoon and got stuck in a massive traffic jam of Yankee’s fans from New York and Connecticut driving up to Boston for the weekend series. I’ve mostly gotten used to the pervasive stench of Red Sox fans, but this is a new and unpleasant smell.
A part of Novato went from smelling like chicken shit (nowhere near farmland) to smelling like fried chicken (nowhere near fast food) in a few weeks.
i went to mlb.com to look at today’s starting times and they smeared that disgusting shit all over my face.
The Yankees aren’t playing after today, but I bet Jeter is all over the postseason telecasts during the commercial breaks.
Please, they’ll be playing highlights front and center and the game will be in a little box in the corner.
In an effort to make Jeter’s defense look good, Red Sox are starting Jemile Weeks as SS.
(except Jeter is DHing)
