- Um, Andrew …
What he does is grasp constantly for huge, world-historical theories and systems in order to situate himself in the present. Doubt rattles him; moderation befuddles him; pragmatism offends him. Only Great Ideas appeal. But he is too emotional to separate his feelings from his thoughts in all this (a human failing but one to be resisted as best one can).
- Um, if I were a government regulator, and some activist submitted a document to me that he hadn’t bothered to proofread, I wouldn’t read it either

4. Heh.
Hunh. This is far less splashy, but far more interesting, than Neyer moving to SBN.
I’m so damn busy at work this week I pretty much feel like I’m constantly on the verge of vomitting.
I am interested in meeting up if anyone wants to have a beer in the lot with me before Friday’s opener, but I don’t have plans to grill or set up the full-scale tailgate gear.
COme to our Opening Night Tailgate by gate A. Linden St Kegs!!!
That sounds like fun – is that the Oaklandish/stAy tailgate that was discussed a few days ago?
As indicated by my response to linusalf, we’ll be going and would be happy to join you for a beer in the lot. If it’s Linden St. kegs with others, so much the better.
What I’ll probably do is set up a chair by my truck in my usual lot spot, hang out a spell inhaling the rejuvenating Coli lot spot vapors, then mosey over to the stAy crowd and see how the kegs are holding out.
Sounds perfect. I’ll look for you either place. Not sure we’ll get there at 4:00, but we’ll try for before 5:00.
6: I like the idea of it more than I like going (stupid no-reservation policy).
But I could be down for a farewell trip.
In other words, check your email.
I vibrated with joy that join A’s. (** link)
I find the cultural differences in cliche answers interesting
I find Yahoo’s bizzare use of DL status disturbing. I have a league with Bailey and Utley where I can’t DL them and I have to watch the marginally useful free agents I want trickle away.
NCAYFT
Isn’t that because Bailey and Utley haven’t been put on the DL yet?
TRUTH.
The A’s have announced that he will start on the DL. Same with Utley
Yeah, but they haven’t actually placed them on the DL.
Ah… my mistake then.
The Start of Something Great is Near
When it comes to grills, nomenclature is destiny?
I was just about to say — we apparently have the low-volume part down pat.
Dude. Your email.
Worst Company in America matchups down to the Not-So-Sweet Sixteen. I’d vote for Wellpoint, but they hide behind some brand names; I deal with their “Anthem Blue Cross” incarnation. Walmart and Delta Airlines have a pretty good battle coming up in the Northwest Regional, and if Walmart can take that one I like its chances to go all the way.
Based on the desperate attempt to lose their identity and re-brand as Xfinity, Comcast should be one of the heavy favorites. But my dark horse is Ticketmaster.
Ticketmaster vs. Paypal was a tough 1st-round matchup.
Comcast is the reigning champ and seems to be trying to repeat.
I just cast my votes in the active matchups. No surprise, Ticketmaster seems well on its way to the Elite Eight.
Neat. Ticketmaster has a great bracket and should cruise into the Final Four (of course, that’s exactly what I thought about Pitt).
I love the likely regional final of Comcast vs. AT&T, as it is the quintessential suck-suck consumer choice. Shitty TV service provider with better internet but legendarily bad tech support versus perennially evil ruthlessly efficient monopoly land-line provider with lousy DSL.
What’s a “land-line”? I’m using MagicJack now, plugged into the Charter Cable high-speed internet. I moved recently and test-drove Clearwire for the internet; it promised a lot and delivered very little. The speed was great at 6 a.m., not so good at 8 p.m., actually reminded me of 56k dial-up at the times I wanted to use it. Clearwire, which is sticking a wireless modem on your window sill and pulling a signal off a cell phone tower, is a great idea in theory but I don’t think it’s ready for prime time.
It’s funny too, they (Wellpoint) make it nearly impossible for a random viewer of their website to realize that they are the Man Behind the Curtain with respect to Anthem. Now, many people may be aware of that relationship in advance, but always interesting that they seemingly try to hide the name through which they conduct business.
Good choice, by the way.
Is it possible that no one’s discussed Evan Longoria having his AK-47 stolen from his rental house? I guess the spring training states are pretty sweet locales for the MLB shootin’ crowd. And getting traded to Toronto must really suck.
LaRoche is not making the team.
That’s what I was thinking too…until I saw Sogard’s throw.
that was awful. especially being surrounded by Giants fans.
Zito’s stache is impressively wretched.
It reminds me of mine one year when I shaved my beard progressively until all I had left was a stache. Nuf said.
It reminds me of one year when JediLeroy shaved his beard conservatively.

A’s now on The Wolf. Or should it be The Wolff?
That’s great news. 95.7 FM seems to come in loud and clear here at Casa de Upgrade. And since FM radio works on the droid, I no longer need to bring a separate transistor radio to the games.
Yup — there’s an app for that.
From one perspective, it’s very positive. For the greater part, it’s a good thing. For those with long-stretched dreams, maybe some bad news mixed in as well.
We’re on the Wolf? That’s all you had to say…
