Game 20: Because we arent using that cursed one twice 98

I’m not letting that stink of a last game thread stick around here.

We are again in progress, but at least this time we are scoreless.

A’s vs this guy:

    Question 1: Does Ryan Cook get into this game?
    Question 1a: How many Astros does he walk?

    • colin Apr 26,2015 3:17 pm || Up

      Yes and zero.

      I really hope that Cook comes back strong. I’ve been down on him lately, but I remember when I first saw him pitch for the A’s and I was pretty sure that his slider was actually unhittable.

      • Thunderbutt Apr 26,2015 3:44 pm || Up

        We could sure use a good cookie.

        Were Hinch and Chavez on the same squad? I think so…

          Yeah, Chavez talked about it a bit during the broadcast. He said that even when Hinch was still playing, everyone thought that he would be a manager some day.

      • andeux Apr 26,2015 5:16 pm || Up

        Cook’s performance was probably the highlight of this game.
        He looked great, 94-95, hiting his spots.

    Things I am tired of:

    That Blake Griffin Roman commercial. If we are going to see that 5 times a game all year I may need to invest in plush toys to throw at the TV.

    Jed Lowrie. Where are the airmailed throws? Where are the called strike 3’s and that disdainful look atthe ump as he walks back to the dugout leaving 2 on?

      Last two balls to Springer didn’t miss by much either. 95% of the time, you’d get that call on 3-0.

  11. colin Apr 26,2015 2:42 pm

    Getting those three runs back felt very satisfying.

  12. bear88 Apr 26,2015 3:58 pm

    Oh, great. Base hit to start the ninth.

  13. bear88 Apr 26,2015 4:00 pm

    The runner would have been safe anyway. Great. Two guys on, including the fast Altuve, nobody out.

    Walk Lowrie.

    • andeux Apr 26,2015 6:00 pm || Up

      Walked Lowrie 4 times in this series, all with men on, two of them intentional and at least one of the other two seemed like a pitch-around.

      All four times the runner(s) in front of Lowrie scored, and 3 of the 4 times Lowrie ended up scoring too.

    • colin Apr 26,2015 5:40 pm || Up

      The A’s are on a pretty bad slide right now, and bullpen losses are always super frustrating. But losing to the Astros really doesn’t make me as angry as losses to the Royals and Angels. Maybe a year from now when Houston is defending AL West champion I’ll be able to work up some hate, but I still find them kind of lovable.

      • Future Ed Apr 26,2015 6:12 pm || Up

          On the TV thing, I’d buy a one-month subscription to MLB.tv at the same time you start the Unlocator trial. If it works, swell, and if not, doing the month-by-month rather than annual would limit your cost. Unlocator sounds more reliable/less frustrating than some of the other trickery people try to bypass the blocking.
