I’m not letting that stink of a last game thread stick around here.
We are again in progress, but at least this time we are scoreless.
A’s vs this guy:

Crap, I’ll go delete mine.
LOL-you beat me by like 30 seconds from killing this one.
You put a picture in yours. Way classy.
Fellow NRAFs — it’s the mlb.tv free game of the day!
I hadn’t remembered Max Gail in anything other than Barney Miller, but I just saw him in the movie 42.
Same.
On a related note: if anyone had bothered to tell me Ron Glass was in Firefly I would have watched it years ago.
Question 1: Does Ryan Cook get into this game?
Question 1a: How many Astros does he walk?
Yes and zero.
I really hope that Cook comes back strong. I’ve been down on him lately, but I remember when I first saw him pitch for the A’s and I was pretty sure that his slider was actually unhittable.
We could sure use a good cookie.
Were Hinch and Chavez on the same squad? I think so…
Yeah, Chavez talked about it a bit during the broadcast. He said that even when Hinch was still playing, everyone thought that he would be a manager some day.
Cook’s performance was probably the highlight of this game.
He looked great, 94-95, hiting his spots.
Things I am tired of:
That Blake Griffin Roman commercial. If we are going to see that 5 times a game all year I may need to invest in plush toys to throw at the TV.
Jed Lowrie. Where are the airmailed throws? Where are the called strike 3’s and that disdainful look atthe ump as he walks back to the dugout leaving 2 on?
Historical or hysterical? Chavvy says the Astros have never swept the A’s.
I’m gonna go with historically hysterical.
Hysterically historical.
Wow-we are on the other side here folks:
For those of you reading this later: our color guy has been pointing something out that is almost insightful and interesting. (Pom Pom’s curve is starting too low so the hitters arent offering at it)
That was very well struck!
This inning is pretty FKing annoying so far.
Ugh
Yeah, blue, you DO suck. Little punk-ass.
Last two balls to Springer didn’t miss by much either. 95% of the time, you’d get that call on 3-0.
Getting those three runs back felt very satisfying.
It would be nice to squeeze out a close game for a change.
Oh, great. Base hit to start the ninth.
The runner would have been safe anyway. Great. Two guys on, including the fast Altuve, nobody out.
Walk Lowrie.
Walked Lowrie 4 times in this series, all with men on, two of them intentional and at least one of the other two seemed like a pitch-around.
All four times the runner(s) in front of Lowrie scored, and 3 of the 4 times Lowrie ended up scoring too.
Sigh.
Pbthhh.
It’s never very good to combine mediocrity, bad luck and a bullpen that can’t close games.
But at least Addison Russell is living up to the hype.
This time last year it was all Johnson’s fault. This year, we’re blowing it by committee.
We should’ve stuck with Colin’s thread.
good news! we found the low point of the season in april!
one weekend ass whooping and the palce is a ghost town?
What about tat man?
I’m kinda just tired of the games playing out the same way pretty much everytime. Not much to say when the reaction is just, “Yup, this again.”
The A’s are on a pretty bad slide right now, and bullpen losses are always super frustrating. But losing to the Astros really doesn’t make me as angry as losses to the Royals and Angels. Maybe a year from now when Houston is defending AL West champion I’ll be able to work up some hate, but I still find them kind of lovable.
something bugs me about Jed. I think its that he took a relatively cheap deal. why couldn’t he have stuck around to play 2nd?
Well everyone seemed to hate him even though he was the best A’s shortstop since Tejada. Must be the ‘furd thing.
I didn’t like his defense, but I was happy he was on the team.
I would have liked him a lot more at 2nd. And if he was playing likehe is right now, or in ’13, vshow he ended up last year.
It’s the major league leading six bullpen losses that are getting to me
Irritating point #1: The A’s bullpen has the worst Win Probability Added (-2.23) in baseball, by a large margin.
Irritating point #2: The Royals bullpen has the best WPA (+2.27) in baseball, by a large margin.
The season is going to require heavy drinking, and I’m now 15 gallons closer to meeting that requirement.
woohoo
we really need a Saturday afternoon game in your garage
Absolutely! Let’s look for dates.
I thought you guys were married.
May 23rd @ Rays or June 6th @ Red Sox are both 1:05 starts.
I think the 6th is good. Maybe the 23rd. I have to look at the rain out schedule for the kids
If many are invited I may be in the area the weekend of the 6th-7th. Will know for sure over the next week.
I’m inviting myself, then not showing up.
The 6th looks better for me now, and I’ve also been
instructedrequested to brew a batch of Pliny the Elder for a mid-July birthday, so the timing would be perfect.better for me also
Was following along on at bat and when I saw they had two on in the ninth just said “lol” and turned it off. Too obvious what would happen.
heh.
Lawrie sure didn’t help, but can’t blame Clippard for that double. Ball was brim-high.
Venditte currently tossing a one-hit shutout in a spot start.
Jinxed him
Can they pay me a few million not to play for them? I’d gladly accept.
With Vernon Wells, the outfield is full. Can you not play infield, too?
Joe Blanton is off the payroll so there’s room on the mound too.
Huh, Blanton is with the Royals’ AAA team in Omaha. It sets up a Blanton vs. Zito duel at some point.
Isn’t he off the payroll now?
He is, and so is Matthews
Yes.
Heck, I’d not play for them for a few thou.
The starting pitcher in three of our next five games is still TBA. I have to assume that Hahn makes one of those or they would have retroactively DLed him by now.
They could still retroactively DL him and call up someone else if Hahn is unable to pitch, right?
The Brett Anderson? Suddenly much less brittle
Tenuous Barry Announcement.
Chavez and Pomeranz are in there, but I’m guessing their dates aren’t set yet.
Looks like I’ll probably get to see Gray pitch in Seattle on the 9th, and Felix on the 10th. I’ll be sitting a few rows from the field on the A’s side for that one.
Nice. I have the front rowsies tomorrow for TBA vs. TBA. Should be a helluva duel.
I bet TBA gets a win and TBA gets a no decision.
I dunno, TBA’s awfully inconsistent
He’s pitching with confidence though.
Good time to trade him for PTBNL.
Someone who is FITZ.
SuSlu just said Hahn pitches tomorrow. Chavez might pitch Thursday.
Hmm, she’s also suggesting they might pitch Chavez on Thursday, presumably to push Kazmir into the next series.
I would subscribe to that magazine. After last year Kaz should never be allowed to see a slegnA uniform again, let alone pitch against them.
He can look. Just not touch.
Clearly a misprint. TBA is to be followed by TCA…

What exactly went down over at that cesspool of hate?
So he was the Stones while everyone else was the Beatles, but also punk rock while the internet was disco and everyone else liked the Stones. Got it.
He can say whatever the hell he wants. He was always the Rhoda to our Mary.
You can see a good deal of stuff in the latest Grill.
Given the Rev’s role cheer-leading the purging of AN, the complaints about SBN over there are pretty hilarious.
Ok-just to confirm..Even with MLB.TV premium I cant get A’s games if i am in the “local area” right?
Mentioned in that LA Times article last week…why don’t you give Unlocator the free 7-day trial and report back (assuming you’re not using one of the devices noted at the top of that page).
I still have my cable so for now I am holding off. But Im starting to price stuff. And I just saw a note that the eldest Ace can get like 35% off as a college student.
Related-I was given the official news from him today. I am now the proud dad of a Beaver come this Sept!
Where will you find all that orange and black clothing? Cuz that’s what you need to add to your wardrobe. Boo! I thought you’d insist on Ducks Green and Yellow.
On the TV thing, I’d buy a one-month subscription to MLB.tv at the same time you start the Unlocator trial. If it works, swell, and if not, doing the month-by-month rather than annual would limit your cost. Unlocator sounds more reliable/less frustrating than some of the other trickery people try to bypass the blocking.
Congrats to the Aces family, and condolences on the wardrobe.
Thank you both. And actually it is sort of a sick thing right now. Our high school is Orange and Black. Im doing everything in my power to remind him that schools are different than the pro teams you always care for. (and in his defense, he is very uninterested in sports. He will be living on campus with free access to football tickets and I put the over under on games he will go to at 1. And I am VERY tempted to take the under.)
hola, friend
My god. That’s the perfect picture of his voice.
It’s funny, for someone who downloads a lot of music and movies and doesnt always pay full retail..This whole part just seems scary to me. Dont know why-I know people do it all the time.
I will report back if and when I give it a whirl.
works like a charm
