This appears to be a pretty special one. Tempted to tune in just to say I witnessed part of the carnage.

Oh my. I hadn’t even looked.

I’d suggest a single pinned A’s discussion thread for the rest of the season. Otherwise we should probably do Grills to cover the upcoming election, succession in the House of Windsor, Enterprise Rent-a-Car parking on ptbnl’s street and all the other stuff.

    That was fun to watch.

      But still the bonus runner?

I dont like shifts. But I also dont like this rule and amnot sure it provides great benefits. I like the pitch clock and I do think that is going to pick up the pace and maybe reduce the MAX EFFORT EVERY PITCH factor. And Im agnostic on the size of the base.

Agreed on all of it, except I don’t even mind the shift. It seems like the same people who hate hitters like Joey Gallo just pushed through a rule that benefits exactly that kind of hitter. I really didn’t think MLB would be that dumb.

I also like the pitch clock. There will predictably be a lot of complaining about it in April and somebody will dubiously blame an arm injury on it, but I think once everybody gets used to it they will come around. Since we’re shortening the time of games could we get rid of the zombie runner in extra innings, at least until maybe the 13th inning?

The business about limits on disengaging from the rubber and pickoffs has its heart in the right place but seems a little convoluted and easy to lose track of.

The minor leagues must still be working out some kinks in RoboUmp.

I like how the telecasts are spending about 50% of the time on things other than the game now.
Although the comic stylings of Sheldon Neuse at 2B are pretty entertaining.

Melvin needs to play with the house money. Pruitt has some serious Mike Warren against the White Sox in Sept of a lost season vibes.

I take this short piece as saying: Melvin felt he was a robo-manager in Oakland regarding bullpen usage. In San Diego he has more leeway to go with “gut feeling” or whatever you want to call it. Whether that’s good or bad, hmmm.
