— Susan Slusser (@susanslusser) July 26, 2012
Anyhoo, this headline about “making history” somehow doesn’t sound right, eh?
And, uh, Hanley? It’s “LA,” not, “JA.”
Twitter broke while I was scavenging for links, so that’s all I’ve got for now.
West Coast friends, please enjoy an extra cup of coffee if you’re able to tune in to the game at all. I will be trapped in a soundproof room for a while, so I’m counting on all of you on the outside for updates.
You are trapped in my basement?
Not that I’m aware of, unless I’m having one of those Philip K. Dick days again.
I like that it writes out “one comment”. I guess it wouldn’t work as well for “four hundred and thirty-five comments”
Finally a normal starting time for a game!
I know, right?
It’s a beautiful morning in the valley. A half a pot of coffee is gurgling inside me, and oddly enough, I of all people have a busy day ahead.
I hope our friends in the road uniforms play well today and ensure a joyous flight to Baltimore, where they will concentrate on making shitbiscuits out of Showalter.
I had a sudden desire for a hot dog as accompaniment to this game. But alas, the Crapomatic vending machine in my office, which frequently has things like that, is due for a restock; there’s nothing but Froot Loops and a shady-looking muffin encased in cellophane.
Fortunately the neighborhood taco lady should stop by in an hour or so.
FK Yes!
Buy me some tacos and diet coke
Blue Jays relievers inevitably choke
because nobody roots for the home team
two playoffless decades a shame
yes it’s one two three strikes you’re out
yes you Rogers, you’re lame!
Actually, I should have posted that on Free Gravy.
Although I’ve bought beer and all manner of miscellanea from vending machines, the thought of buying a hot dog from one just doesn’t sound like a good idea.
They’re Nathan’s hot dogs encased in cellophane; I think they have a shelf life of about 150 years.
reddick!
Phenomenonnomnomnomnominal.
I was afraid for a moment we weren’t going to score that inning.
941: geez, we haven’t scored yet?
945: that’s better.
these new A’s are fun
but I am also pleased, after seeing Suzuki’s at bat, to know that some things never change. makes me feel more in control of things
I know that feeling. It’s like watching House. Makes me feel so comfortable, I always know exactly what’s going to happen and when from the first moments of the show. I’m so in control.
YOURE RISKING A PATIENT’S LIFE!!!
(40 minutes later-walks out in the middle of conversation and gives the guy a stick of chewing gum which saves his life..)
Everyone lies. <---- That shit ain't no lie.
Definitely.
Also, Vicodin is yummy!
like a kid on christmas. i creaked one eye open sorta early thinking about how i should check on my computer since i was doing the OS upgrade overnight. it might be hanging on a screen asking me to OK something… but i was feeling lazy. didn’t want to do it. the floor might be chilly. 5 more minutes ma. what was i dreaming about? oh yeah, sinking sinking sinking… suddenly my eyes peel open. OMG THE A’S ARE PLAYING SOON. THEY CAN’T WIN UNTIL THEY PLAY AND THEY CAN’T PLAY UNTIL YOU RELIVE YESTERDAY’S GLORY AND YOU CAN’T DO THAT UNLESS YOU GET UP. NOW! GET UP, GET UP, GET UP!!!
that was at 6:15. i went to bed at 2 and i don’t usually wake up until about 9 or after.
right on.
Looking in for a moment, I see a fellow Bruin sitting behind home plate. Fascinating.
ruh roh. sounds like reddick’s got a new nickname.
Huh, that’s what my batch of early 2000’s game-going people used to call Jorge Posada, so named by the 11-year-old in the group.
posada? what did this 11-yr-old see?
“He looks like a monkey! I shall call him…..Monkey Man!”
i guess his ears are sticky-outy like a monkey.
i always noticed the slope between his chin and adam’s apple and to me he was beaky buzzard.
The boys are sure working Laffey good.
Workin’ him like a cheap hooker. I’m not sure which is more satisfying.
A HIT! Thank goodness, I was getting bored.
HARK! Runs!
What? What? Game day is spinning its wheels!
I think the called strike 3 to Carter that was a foot outside broke Gameday.
According to the yahoo feed, Inge then hit a 2-run homer before Suzuki grounded out.
Single by Sexypants. Inge HR.
it’s way behind. we’re 3-0.
woo-hoo!
BOOBIES
Also, more fun with our friend “Scout”.
During Inge’s AB: Aaron Laffey may be running out of gas …
During Zook’s AB: Aaron Laffey … has plenty left in the tank …
Oh, hell.
saw that coming.
Nice time for a live look in.
bummer
first e5-hr and now v’s hot girlfriend called and invited us over for a threesome or something. keep things under control here
Pictures!!!Webcam!Dude. Cmon.
Thanks, and go As.
Right on! Hurray for polyamory!
ok, so she apparently said “dim sum”
What the hell. We’re not winning?
what were you saying?
We are now.
Ask and you shall receive.
What the hell. I don’t have a billion dollars?
Doesn’t work with money or whores.
Then what the FK good does that do for me?
Boats and hoes.
What the hell. We haven’t scored 9 runs?
Coco en fuego!
KK said safe but i think he meant out on that steal.
and then he called the first baseman the first-base umpire…
pain meds?
Too much Vince?
Lawrie is annoying.
That’s why I don’t watch House.
Milone as designated home starter only please.
what i want to know is, milone, how do you plan to get a triple play here?
definitely not that way.
It’s really nice here right now. I’m thinking about a nap.
So we’re setting up for some ninth-inning heroics?
Why is he still out there.
Ughh
this is unacceptable. unless it’s to set up the coming back.
Um..
Thanks, and go As.
da faq?
He’s been good except for the times he’s been bad.
That’s the kind of insight that only an insider can give.
Contrary to popular belief we only lose the games where we score less runs.
No. Way.
The point being only a handful of his road starts have really been terrible, and they make the numbers look worse overall.
WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!
FIRESALE. TRADE EVERYTHING.
Thanks, and go As.
FIRE MELVIN NOW!
What is this nonsense not winning thing. NOT OKAY WITH THIS.
Whoa
I bet he went out for sushi with a Canadian gambling syndicate last night.
Wow. You pulled that one out of the closet!
right next to Tom Cruise.
Thanks, and go As.
Hee
He should tweet that to Casey Pratt.
tell that to Pratt
RTTE.
This would be another benefit to a six-man rotation — the ability to tweak Milone’s place in the rotation a little more freely to keep him only pitching at home. Ever.
oh, come on…
the thrill is gone.
I DO NOT LIKE THIS.
Thanks, and go As.
Oy.
Welp, I guess they might as well spend all their crappiness on this game and save the good playing for the weekend…
Well, this is an unpleasant surprise.
So, when do they stop broadcasting this mid may game?
I knew we should have requested to bank some of those runs from last night.
i requested.
This probably makes Doolittle unavailable for tomorrow. It’s quite odd that he was brought in at all today.
why do canadians hate the A’s?
i did not like that. :(
All streaks must end. The new one starts tomorrow!
Interesting…George Kottaras was just DFA’d today.
nats and others will have a lot more interest.
Oh, well.
funny. this leaves me with the same taste in my mouth as the game that just ended.
you think that is bad, try the elevators once in a while.
People would yell at me or SLF for bringing our stroller on the escalator, thy felt it was too big, or dangerous. But it is way better than using a BART elevator
for a sec i thought you were telling me where to poop.
I have opinions about that too. (your toilet at home)
I share this opinion.
My mom taught me from a very young age to never touch the moving handrail.
This used to be a problem in Singapore in the 1960s. They solved it by putting cameras in elevators and other places where people were peeing and shitting. The perpetrators were identified, arrested, fined and caned. They also simultaneously put in clean public bathrooms everywhere at street level. These are kept very clean also. There really is no excuse in Singapore to pee anywhere other than in a bathroom. If you do, you’ll be fined and caned and deservedly so.
On my sporadic visits to SF, it seems to me that the homeless problem has gotten noticeably worse over the past 25 years. It’s solvable, but nobody really cares enough to solve it, so it continues.
I agree its solvable, I think it take more money to do so. I am ok with more taxes though.
Well but you can probably pay for the additional amenities through greater visitor traffic. The Financial District and City Center barely see any real visitors during non-working hours. That can change by making them more “24 hour locations”. You probably don’t have to raise taxes if you did that. Just the tax revenue from additional retail and restaurant sales in those locations would probably be enough. I don’t think homeless people would object to peeing in clean bathrooms. You do need security in them though, and you can’t let people live in them.
yup. There is some push (advertising at least) purporting to make Market street more of the destination it was before…some period, i am not really sure when it was a destination. I think it would take more RDA funding to get it ot the self sustaining point.
I am afraid our top commentor on this topic is AWOL, unfortunately.
OK, I have totally given up on this season, who’s with me? Mass fire sale now, trade everyone and don’t even tell them “Good luck on your new team!” when you show them the door. These guys are BUMS.
1 loss in a row. This team is bullshit.
Thanks, and go As.
Seriously. Only 2 HRs in this game???? I am ashamed of this team right now {{{righteous indignation and fist-shaking}}} :(
I bet Cespedes could net a couple of youngsters.
I’ll take a bag of balls for that guy… I mean, only hitting .500 after the break?? That’s just unacceptable… players on MY team have to get hits — extra base hits — at least 75% of the time or they are BUMS.
I’m willing to accept a .500 average as long as he distributes them in such a way that games are never lost. Timing is everything….like in comedy.
Yes. I think a 64-0 the rest of the way will be enough to make up for today’s less-than-acceptable showing, with Cespedes going for a perfectly-distributed .500 average such that he gets the game winning hit in all 64 games.
Agreed. I’m sure he’ll come up with some excuse as to why he can’t do this though….something to do with small market blah blah blah
COME ON BILLY!!! GIVE ME A REASON TO CONTINUE CARING TODAY!
Damn straight. I want BB to deal for the entire Dodgers roster EXCEPT Hanley Ramirez, so it’s just him on their team and he has to play all 9 positions every game.
He’ll have to be his own catcher. It won’t be easy but for $15 million he’d better suck it up and get it done.
Seriously, if he throws the change up he should be able to get back behind the plate before it lands. Suck it up, Hanley!!!!
FK’r survey: Is swearing at work a problem?
I would be totally fucked if it were true for me.
i have one of the filthiest mouths i know of. but most of the time i keep the voice volume to inside-my-head.
Me too.
Wait…
Thanks, and go As.
You’ve never met me. Or my mind. Fucker.
la putÃsima concha de la lora que te recontra mil parió!!!
i mean… yeah, that’s a shame.
Don’t you be talking about my parrot.
My organization is smart enough to know that there’s nothing wrong with a well place fuck.
/heidifleiss
Win.
Not a problem in my group; we try to keep it clean outside of the group though (with management and marketing types). Kind of interesting; one of the guys is a potty-mouth and the other I think is LDS. I’ve cleaned up my language since the latter joined (though he doesn’t seem at all perturbed by any of it). So far everyone seems to get along fine.
Also, at first glance I read your linked text as “Is wearing a sweater at work a problem?” I am amused.
I swear all the fucking time at work.
We don’t really swear at work. But we have really disgusting conversations during meals and while we code people.
Yesterday’s game brought the A’s pythag to 53-44 compared with their actual 53-44
And now?
too lazy. I just look at B-R who doesn’t update that quickly.
53-45, compared with 53-45
Ah the symmetry
All skill, baby.
I don’t believe this has been posted. Silly Gomez!
poor guy. he should have walked all the way around back to the plate though.
Or run backwards
At least the strike-out kept him from running again.
didn’t something like that happen to jemile last year? he didn’t think it was a full HR, but something where he ran to 3rd, got called back, had to bat winded, and struck out.
TRICKS ARE FOR KIDS!
its hard to mock, because he kept his head down like the unwritten rules say, and as Ueker points out, the 2nd and 3rd base umpires didn’t do squat to tell him.
It seemed he was near second when it finally went foul anyway, so why not complete the journey.
It only get’s awkward when you flip the bat and blow a kiss to the pitcher.
Although he did seem to do some ear touch at each base as celebration thing.
ACA NOW!
The under-26ers can stay on their parents’ policies, right?
39….
OH SHAT
Did they even try him at SS before releasing him?
No, but Houston’s trying Brett Wallace at SS now, in the minors.
Because his lower body pretty much fills up the entire left side of the infield?
asvd
I was totally convinced an Escobar-to-A’s trade would be announced right after today’s game, on the premise that the Jays didn’t want him playing against them in the series.
sorry source links
sigh.
Thanks, and go As.
fit into clubhouse dynamics? is that some kind of code for we’re all out the gold robes in his size?
It means he doesn’t know the choreographed Philippine prison dances they do.
NEW.MARKET.EFFICIENCY.
Fist fights in the locker room. The new Swingin’ A’s.
that doesn’t seem like something to be concerned with, much like Hanley’s hand.
I am not sure this is really top notch reporting.
Billy talking about Hanley deal right now.
Thanks, and go As.
Nevermind, non answer. “A lot of what you read is false.”
Thanks, and go As.
“There are some areas we need to upgrade and I think they’re obvious”
Thanks, and go As.
re: Straily & Choice
Very unlikely you’d see either of them going anywhere
Thanks, and go As.
Oh goody. Let’s keep them in the minors where they can help the Rivercats with the all-important PCL and disabled Texas League titles.
I read that as meaning in trades, not in promotions.
an games? well, if those guys say they invented english i guess i’ll have to take their word for it.
but dissing atlanta is no way to make nice. unless you don’t want to make nice, in which case you really oughta remind everyone that they were held in “the middle of nowhere” and there was still a bombing.
other goodies are to be found.
The middle of nowhere they are referring to is Utah where Romney “saved” the games.
d’oh!
you mean when he took over and got the government to pitch in some money?
excellent!
Wheeee!!!!!
first inning a hit and 17 pitches
according to dowskow
PS are the MiLB games blacked out now, I tried to tune into KSTE and there was no game there
Hm. I’m not sure. I’m just following on Gameday and occasionally checking Doskow’s updates.
From the looks of things, the horrible Rivercats defense has let Brett down this inning.
its on now. kste 650 on iheartradio
You can just listen online from the River Cats site. That’s probably easier.
I have iheartradio on my phone, its pretty easy
its tape delay on kste?
anderson 4 innings 53 pitches 7 hits 4 runs 0 K 0BB 1 HR (luis Jimenez)
but my radio is an inning behind
Internet radio delays can be extreme. I saw that XM was putting MLB broadcasts on their Internet service this year and gave it the one week free test drive, thinking it might be better than the sometimes frustrating MLB.com. The XM broadcasts on the Internet were about 6 or 7 minutes behind live action. The XM satellite broadcasts are delayed by several seconds while MLB.com is almost live though with frequent re-buffering.
Can’t see how susan could have said this recently as she is likely in transit to bal’emer
wifi on the plane?
Poor Samuel L. Jackson impersonation.
Brett Anderson for Escobar. Yea or Nay?
And speaking of losing to
TorontoCanada…this dude got wally pipped
taylor with a 3 run HR also (SLC, punk. so lots of homers
Aw. Cespedes is in a commercial.
Teams are now limited in the amount of money they can spend on the draft. What if there was another way to do essentially the same thing: acquire pre-MLB talent with cash?
Here’s one idea: bad teams sometimes sign cromulent players with the intent of trading them at the deadline for prospects. Teams should factor in the type of prospect return they might demand into their valuation of these players, and then shop the player at the deadline with full intention of paying his entire salary. That way, the team would fully redirect their free-agent money into prospect acquisition.
yeah i was advocating this before the spending limits.
I just put in laundry. At 1am.
Thanks, and go As.
keep your head up (what!)
keep your head up (that’s right!)
whenever this life gets tough you gotta fight.
replyfail laundry.
I wrote a laundry song once…
I’d quote more but it gets kinda dark from there, as most of my songs tend to do.
i have a deep love of any song that calls me a dick.
Christ, what a week. I hope the universe starts cutting me a little slack soon.
damn right, skippy!
I could pay off my tab, pour myself in a cab and be back to work before two.
At a moment like this, I can’t help but wonder: What would Amanda McCarthy do?
I have lots of those moments, although they tend to be unconnected to any current predicament.
Come for the Game, Stay for the Pie
this kinda conflicts with one of those games, but what i want to know is if there’s an A’s fan over at the independent.
Good question!
I just got tickets.
Good news, 1) printing at home is now free. 2) single game buyers now have tranferability.
which game?

is anyone actually driving? wac wasn’t sure he’d make it to the game on time if at all. so i’m not sure we have a car to huddle around at the parking lot. should we still go to A8? should we just go to, say, the foot of the ramp on the A side?
I will be on the Bay Area Rapid Transit
i’ll email you my #
And I you
That makes me a liar. (for hire)
Call him, maybe.
I’ve got the good seats for Monday, and just used coupon for Tuesday!
I already have tickets for wednesday.
i’m going to catch 1, maybe 2 of these.
i forgot i’m signed up to help at an event on monday night. :(
That’s a sweet deal. I wish I could make it.
A trip recap. There will be more once I’m done with various photos, but that’s going to take a while. For now, a summary:
* 7/16: drove to Eugene, saw the game at PK Park next to Autzen Stadium. Nice place, though some of the shooting locations in the ballpark were a bit further away than I’m used to. After Eugene’s manager got tossed in the bottom of the 9th arguing balls and strikes (it went almost 5 minutes) I turned to the photographer next to me and said, “Might as well end it now.” No kidding, next pitch: walkoff home run.
* 7/17: had VooDoo Doughnuts at the Eugene location (not bad, but probably overrated), drove to Salem, stopped off at the Oregon state capitol building, saw the game at Volcanoes Stadium. Mariners #3 pick Mike Zunino hit two home runs in his fourth professional game for visiting Everett, who beat Salem-Keizer. No photo wells at the place but the shooting spots were still great. Drove to Portland for the motel.
* 7/18: did a little wandering before lunch with a couple people at the downtown food carts. After that, got to Tacoma and rushed over to Cheney Stadium with a little time to spare before the game. That was the 18-inning marathon I wrote about, ending with a position player who’d come in to pitch hitting a walkoff homer.
* 7/19: wandered around Tacoma’s inner harbor area, which had some decent sights. Shot my second game in Tacoma, a Sacramento blowout win. Left at 10 PM to make it up to the Seattle area before it got too late, where I stayed with friends.
* 7/20-22: worked from there, though on the 21st I went out to a car with a completely dead battery so I had to get that replaced. Good thing that happened when it did and not while I was in the middle of any part of the trip.
* 7/23: up early to get on the ferry to Victoria, BC from Seattle. Nice ride, though the waters were rough enough getting close to the end that everyone looked drunk when they were walking around. Hopped a tour bus to go to Butchart Gardens and two hours was too short to really enjoy everything, but part of that was me having to speed it up after I realized I was taking too long in one area. Checked into the hotel, got some Canadian money, then did some walking around the harbor and a few blocks away here and there to see various things. Went back out a little after 9 PM to take pics around the harbor & parliament building at night.
* 7/24: checked out some of the interior of the Empress then toured inside the parliament building. That was worth seeing. They also had some people dressed in period clothes to act like certain people from the past. We got the architect, Francis Rattenbury. You can look him up for more info. After that I rented a bike because I didn’t think I’d have enough time to see what I wanted by walking alone, and my feet were already complaining from the day before. Hadn’t rode in nearly 15 years but I had Tim Horton’s before seeing Craigdarroch Castle, going over the Johnson Street Bridge (“Big Blue”) to see the harbor from the other side, Chinatown, parts of Beacon Hill Park and the coastal road back into the harbor, then the miniature world at one side of the Empress. The bike helped a lot because most of those places were multiple blocks away and back from the same central area. Then, rode the ferry back to Seattle and stayed in Olympia for the night.
* 7/25: checked out the Washington state capitol in Olympia, which was really impressive, then drove on to Redding for the night. Went out to the Sundial Bridge with the tripod to do some shooting with a DSLR.
* 7/26: went back to the Sundial Bridge to get some morning shots around 9 AM, then got back on the road to get home by 1 PM. Now it’s time to catch up on everything and go through a few thousand photos.
I’m glad you had a good time, doc.
I got to see and do a lot.
And oh yeah, 18-inning game. Heh.
Yeah, if I believed in envy, I’d put that one on my list.
Sounds awesome!
It was good times.
Today’s Public Eavesdropping from the Chron:
that is a daily occurance around my San Francisco home
Sing it from the rooftops, kid!
Clearly that kid has a bright future
What I notice, you ask?
Sure, uh, [squints] no SS upgrade
I mean hicks is an upgrade over Money Penny
I can’t wait for tonight. I love the Opening Ceremonies and I’m very intrigued by this duel between Mary Poppins and Voldemort.
tonight? i thought this was happening within the hour.
I know our special relationship with England is special, but I intend to watch this thing on ‘Merican time.
i see. i’ll give no spoilers then. not even if someone drops the torch or something.
Yeah–no spoilers!! I’m already crushed that I’ve seen the US walk in unis.
biting tongue… biting tongue…
i’ll just say this, very different than beijing.
I’m guessing it’s a bit more like Vancouver…less 10K people in perfectly timed military drumming, more moose on ice skates?
biting tongue… biting tongue…
This is gonna be awesome!
I dunno, I hear security is inadequate.
i blinked and missed the name of the country before australia. they had like 5 delegates. that always makes me sad. i hope they kick serious butt at some obscure and specialized sport.
Oh, it’s disconcerting!
Stark on Headley:
Also, the Cubs are shopping Alfonso Soriano. If the A’s lose out on Headley, or the asking price is too high, I wonder what everyone thinks about moving Coco (if possible) and acquiring Soriano? Of course, I guess that means moving Cespedes back to CF (or Reddick in CF, Moss in RF, and Cespedes at DH?).
That’s interesting. Although if the Cubs trade Soriano, they’ll be eating a lot of salary so I don’t think you can convince them to take on Coco’s contract on top of that.
Oh, I meant separate deals. Grab Soriano and then offer Coco to the teams that wanted Soriano but didn’t get him.
Well thats problematic because no one wants Soriano which is why they are offering him up with a check for all but 2m of the 40 that hes owed.
Maybe soriano can play 3b?
I wonder if the A’s could offer to pick up a little more of his salary in exchange for giving up a very marginal prospect. I mean, since they’re willing to take on payroll and since they have trouble giving money to FA’s in the off-season anyway.
I know he’s played 3B on occasion, but that’s been pretty rare, I think. I’d guess he’d be a butcher there.
He would probably be worse than a butcher there.
A 28 year old 3b who has had some success in San Diego? What could possibly go wrong?
Heh
I thought the same thing at first. But Kouz was never as good as Headley.
Definitely true.
What does this mean?
TV station.
Tokyo Broadcast Station!!!
It means they’ve finally figured out that most of America is bored with the Braves.
do they broadcast baseball games?
I haven’t had cable for years, but don’t they show all of the Braves games?
No, that ended several years ago. TBS does have a Sunday afternoon game (almost always Yankees or Red Sox) plus about half the postseason games.
Ok, then assume my earlier comment was from 1996 or so.
yeah, it’s a drawn out story.
cool
TBS stands for “The Bronx Station”, which is why you may not have known they had a Sunday afternoon MLB Game of the Week.
I did not know that
turner BS.
YES! I can watch it at work! YESS!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU in in chicago with a 2 run lead in the 6th
so far has faced 2 righties Soto and “darwin Barney.”
not sure if that last one is an actual name
struck out 2 and had a pop up
what’s a barney?
T thought there was a sequence in Ocean’s Eleven, to the effect that to be “in Barney” was Trouble.
Barney –> Rubble –> trouble.
that sounds cockney. this is surfer. we used to call each other barneys all the time in huntington beach high. as well as kook, grommet, knob, etc.
Can’t see youtube at work. Assumed that was the clip. “we’re in Barney…Barney , Barney Rubble…TROUBLE!”
They noxed it right up they did..so unless you’re planning on pulling this heist in Reno..
the clip i put there was from north shore, an 80s surf movie. paraphrase: “what’s a barney?” “you are, barney.” “i’m not a barney.” “whatever, barnyard.”
Barney also describes is ethnicity as “one-quarter Korean and one-quarter Japanese. The other half is American-Hawaiian.”
No purple dinosaur? At all?
the purp wasn’t in his DNA. it was in his drank.
“american-Hawaiian?”
i’m gonna take that as a direct ref to the north shore clip i mentioned.
My first reaction also, which is why I specified that he said that, not me. I think that’s to distinguish it from native Hawaiian.
Crasnick says that the Indians would have to be “blown away” to move Asdrubal Cabrera. Would Straily, Choice, and Cole constitute as “blowing them away”?
Straily’s value is probably sky-high right now, but Choice has mostly struggled this year before breaking, and Cole wasn’t doing so well in Stockton (although he’s still very young so I don’t know if that would mean much to most teams).
While I feel that the A’s should make a run at a title this year (you just never know what may happen down the road), I really love the idea of a rotation that features Anderson, Parker, Griffin and Straily. I’d hate to see any of them traded.
But I really love the idea of a Headley and Cabrera left side of the infield.
Well, it’s no Pennington/Hughes, but I guess it’ll do.
I wonder what the batting order would look like. Assuming no other trades, maybe:
Crisp
Headley
Cabrera
Cespedes
Reddick
Carter
Moss/Smith/Gomes
Norris
Weeks
I’m quivering with anticipation.
I think Cespedes and Reddick will enjoy hitting with people on base once in a while.
plus, Cabrera is the sickest defensive SS currently breathing, he makes plays that are just not makeable.
So will you remove the cause, but not the symptom?
is gotten how after
, – and are traded?
I don’t know. Trade the entire Rivercats roster. I hear they’re good at winning championships.
apparently Lind has also been scratched.
Id make that trade in an instant
yes, that is a complete no-brainer… a steal even.
Darn. This probably means the Indians won’t do it.
Just watched Susan Slusser do a whole segment live on MLB Network about Gomes and Reddick freezing Griffin’s shirt the other day. The A’s are popular all of a sudden… the last 5 years to get a live segment on MLB one of our players would have had to shoot one of the others.
Too bad she got the IP for Griffin the other night wrong.
she did, didn’t she?I thought it was 6 and she said 7.
And you must’ve missed earlier segments this year with Reddick and Gomes in Boston and Gomes over the All-Star Break.
