I’m a two AND a three!
I didn’t think there was enough information to calculate my PRESUME score — does substance abuse include alcohol? My guess is that it does, so I’m 2+3 also but I bucked the trend by going all science-y.
Those distributions seems to imply that the majority of people are in the 2-3 category. I’d ask for more differentiation within that category before finding a trend. It’s not surprising that the largest category is the one with the best mix.
I’m glad that a lot of good folks are tailgating today.
Part of me is sad that I won’t be able to make it, and part of me is happy that I don’t have to be around lots of lots of people, even if I like some of those people very much.
Sorry I won’t make it. Soccer tryouts take priority.
Thanks, and go As.
mother fker
Insanely crowded. North lots very full. I’m in a long line to have my picture taken with Scott (swoon).
I’m so glad I didn’t go. I’d totally have locked myself in a portapotty to hide by now.
I hear the view in there sucks.
Per wac’s facebook event page, http://www.facebook.com/events/279846732063356/ , they’re parked in the “H” lot, which is the narrow lot usually reserved for VIP parking, a strip down the middle of the North lots, between the A lot in the northeast corner and the D lot in the northwest corner.
Their lot lettering is a like a keyboard.
Now that the OPD have stopped using it as the 3rd side of their kettle, I’m off to the Y for our traditional daddy/daughter Sunday swim.
Can a FKr get a little advice here?
I am late to the internet radio party — I work from a home orifice, and find that my focus and earworms-at-bay interests are served by classical music in the background. There’s just something ennobling about it.
I’ve heard of pandora but have no experience of it. I recently ran across something I’ve been using called calmradio.com, that can be free — iff you are willing to put up with insipid promotions ingeniously provided by a woman with an astoundingly annoying voice and patter. They want $5-6/month to subscribe to all their 80-odd channels, thus avoiding her (I’d pay a lot more than that if they’d just shoot her). Apparently, you can also go all bluetoothy and steam it through your stereo. I’m sure there must be other apps I haven’t thought-of.
So, any advice as to what services are most useful? Are there some that combine video programming, like for netflix-type streaming? Other ideas? … Bueller?
Thanks, all.
Depending on your tastes in classical, Pandora can be decent (they’re not good for pre-1500 stuff, but I presume they’re fine for the 18th/19th c stuff). I you want it free, tho, they have their own annoying ads.
Thanks, MB.
I think that part of the reason classical works for me is my ignorance of particular selections — they do not generally stick in my mind, and I’m not bothered by who’s “covering” what whatever. For instance, I just tried to figure out if I’d care about that pre-1500 demarcation, and I haven’t a clue. ‘notherwords, I have no taste developed — so I should go for cheap?
Pre-1500 stuff?
Did Phillum Spectoricus record with a “Wall Of Sound” technique? (Literally chiseling the analog sound waves into a wall!)
Actually, I think it’s really cool that such ancient pieces got recorded as opposed to remaining on paper.
Pandora, Slacker Radio, Spotify, I heart radio
plenty of choices and you can sample em all free!
Thanks, and go As.
and what mike says
spotify is free with ads too.
I have no idea how their classical collection is, but you can go out and choose what recordings you want.
You can stream Minnesota Public Radio’s classical service for free, if you don’t mind the occasional Bemidji weather forecast.
I have been to Biwabik, in the Mesabi Range (or was it Bimebik in the Wasabi Range?), but never Bemidji. It snowed there in June, as it did in Faribault when my brother was married there.
Thanks, EM — good to see you hereabouts.
SuSlu from FanFest (I was nearby but did not inhale):
“I continue to believe that the A’s are serious about signing Manny Ramirez.”
“Melvin does like the fact that the A’s have added a few more hard-nosed, go-go-go types,” ref’d Gomes and Cowgill to join Rosales.
“Daric Barton says his fall shoulder surgery will limit him to DHing until mid-March, but I don’t believe that will impact his ability to win back the first base job.” (FSU: So, Barton on the DL until mid-May, then?)
“Wolff says his one-on-one sessions with fans today were courteous, even if they agreed to disagree…I’ve heard he was booed in the concourse…”
Per attendees, the way the Wolff thing worked was you put your name and question into a barrel, raffle-style, and if your name was called you got ushered to some place to see Wolff outside of general earshot. Uh huh.
that wolff thing is just weird
That Wolff thing sounds… creepy.
I try not to get ushered off into strange rooms alone with weird old men. But maybe that’s just me.
damn!
[throws away a raffle ticket with Kyli’s name on it]

wow, you must be old, like 30 or even older!
heh
Al Gore? Is that you?
He invented it while hiking his way out of the Amazon, where he was helicopter dropped with nothing but a knife, a cliff bar, and the clothes on his back.
He emerged with a knife, a cliff bar, the clothes on his back, and the internet.
nice
Sounds like what questions for the TCA would be like.
Wake up, Sleepy Susie.
I stood in line for 45 minutes to have my picture taken with Scott Hatteberg and David Justice, but by the time I got to the head of the line it was Coco. I stood in line to have my picture taken with Keebs (which is our pet name for Eric Sogard, because he looks like he makes cookies in a hollow tree in the offseason), but by the time I got to the head of the line it was Jonny Gomes. But I managed to catch Keebs in the hallway (and remembered to address him as Eric) and told him as he signed my jersey that he was an inspiration to nearsighted people everywhere. He laughed and said “Represent!”.
LOF to the cookie-making family!
That’s awesome! If my kids needs glasses I’ll write to Sabermetric Orthodoxy: Glasses Are Dorky and ask him for some inspiration.
Awesome!
Thoughts on Gomes’s mohawk? From the Twitter pictures I saw, it looked a bit… intense.
It’s awesome.
really cool
Waited in line for more than an hour to see McCarthy and Anderson, only for them to move and Devine, Blue, and Ross to take their place, and leave right as we got there.
But with respect to Eric Sogard, my whole family endearingly refers to him as “Spectacles”, and he was equally charming and awesome when we met him.
I met Devine, Sizemore and Chip Hale in the clubhouse and they were fine with pictures at that time, that was the one thing that I was looking forward to. The clubhouse is very small, do the Raiders also use that?
Can someone with powers approve the pending comment from Babar? she’s ANother of us.
Done.
I love Gus Johnson. C’mon Cardinal.
I too love Gus Johnson; however, I happy with the way that one ended.
Ugh. That Gutierrez is such a pest.

My undergrad major isn’t even on that list.
Art History majors are ahead of me. PHILOSOPHY majors are ahead of me.
Sob.
That’s a weird list though… Art History and Philosophy majors are ahead of Chemical Engineers.
Yeah. And thank god I majored in history to go with my useless liberal arts computer science degree. Otherwise I’d be off the list too.
That is odd. I wonder how how they gathered their data.
I think the missing information is whether the wealth that makes them 1%-ers is inherited or earned.
I’m already set for life, bitches! So I’m going to major in FKing zoology!
I seem to remember the royals that made it to university always ended up in art history or anthropology.
I make up 14% of the top 1%!
Chemical engineers, eh? Think I’ll buy me a football team.
In no particular order, here are my Fanfest photos. I’ll put up a F(K)-stop post tomorrow.
Thanks! Also, to everyone else who went: MOAR photos!
Yay, thanks!
What Michael Taylor is thinking in photo 2, as he looks forlornly to the horizon: “Where is shoes? I thought she would be here… well, I hoped she would be here…”
OK, so now I have paid hosting on byet, and WP is up and running. What theme (or plugin) do you use, nevermoor, to allow you subcategories?

You should be able to install directly through the dashboard by just searching for the name.
OK. I’m totally renting this one, 6 miles per gallon be damned:
I think you have that backwards, 6 gallons to the mile.
