What Do Danny Haren, Seth Smith And Jarrod Parker Have IN Common? 38

Answer:  The first time that I saw each of these players I said, “Man, I wish the A’s had a guy like that”

The first time I saw Danny Haren pitch it was apparent that he had better “stuff” and a better make-up than any of our starting pitchers at the time. That winter he was traded to Oakland for Mark Mulder.

The first time that I saw Seth Smith swing the bat I said, man, I wish that the A’s had a professional hitter with pop. Now, he is an A.

Then, there is Jarrod Parker. Last year, I saw him throw in the Post Season and said, “Man, he makes our young guys look like projects. He is the real deal”

This thought came to me this morning and I have decided to be on the Smith and Parker bandwagons and give Beane and Co some credit for adding these pieces to the puzzle that, in my opinion, make the A’s better at a much lower cost.

I have turned the page on football season and can’t wait for FanFest!

Cheers,

Saint!

Would you mind also saying “Man, I wish the A’s had a guy like that” about Evan Longoria, Justin Upton, Mike Stanton, and Troy Tulowitzki?

    Thanks!

And while you’re at it, can’t you also say “Man, I wish A’s Fan Fest had people like this” to Sofia Vergara and Maria Grazia Cucinotta?

                Movie? Real life!

“The only time I got hurt was when I punched Gina Carano in the head by accident.

“I had a series of three punches, but the third one… for one reason or another I connected really hard on the side of her head. She was the one who got straight up and said, ‘Are you OK?’ She was asking me if I was OK! But she was right because I almost broke my friggin’ hand!

And “Man, I wish the A’s could get their new stadium built in Tierra Del Fuego”?

What do they have in common?…..three guys who will briefly play for the A’s?

    But seriously, folks....
  3. stranahanahan Jan 19,2012 1:00 pm

I’m quite excited to see Parker pitch with the A’s (of course, once he gets some proper work in AAA this year).
Not as sold on Smith, but that might be more because I hated that trade and the only way I will end up liking it is if Smith suddenly becomes an above average corner OFer and nets us something for the future in a trade in the next season or two.

Seriously. This post has been up for at least 10 hours and no one has made the obligatory, “Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?” joke? FKing weak, FK.

    • Bed Jan 19,2012 8:44 pm || Up

I would have made that joke but Seth Smith is in my kitchen right now. He seems confused on how to open my fridge as the handle is on the left side of the door.

      But seriously, folks....
