Crafty righthander Justin Duchscherer has avoided the bobble-jinx today, so the A’s are in good shape.
Copeland era comes to an end. Kennedy is starting batting 7th. Petit down. Gray up. Someone on the scout.com boards said that someone on the radio said that geren said that Bobby C. will get most of the starts at 3B. Boo. Also there is some other nonsense about other 3bmen.
In other news, I need to stop looking at **…
Lineup:
Is Kennedy 2B/Crosby 3B every day really better than a Crosby 2B/Hannahan 3B, Petit 2B/Crosby 3B platoon?
Better defense most of the time at 2B, worse defense most of the time at 3B, maybe an upgrade at the plate.
At least Crosby will be able to focus on a single position, for the most part.
Lineup is a fond trip down memory lane. Suzuki DHing again, no Buck.
Someone please check the players’ parking lot and confirm my suspicion that this is the car Adam Kennedy is driving around town.
Booo. I’m tired of Crosby’s sucktacular corner defense (although I haven’t seen most of the games… maybe he only sucks when I’m watching).
This is just fucking stupid. What 74mk + mikeA said about the platoons, what Poppy said about Crosby. WTF happened between the offseason — when Crosby’s suckitude finally triggered action in the FO — and now, when he’s clearly the inferior choice to … everyone … and yet he now becomes the de facto starter.
I wonder if, given the paucity of available 3B on the market, and the demonstrable need by a number of teams, whether Beane is simply trying to pump up Crosby’s trade value? Because he sure as shit isn’t trying to maximize the A’s chance at winning ballgames.
Plus, Gallagher sucks. And Giambi can HR on 77mph slop (fuck, I could HR on 77mph slop … or, at least, mikev or devo or FSU could) but is simply incapable hitting a major-league fastball anymore. And I need a nap. And a beer.
We have always cheered for Adam Kennedy.
First pitch, Landon? Why?
damn.
Notwithstanding the final result and the somewhat A’s-like offensive performance by the Royals, that Greinke-Saunders duel was one hell of a ballgame.
