DLD or Condilump Ink Bar or whatever 95

The New Ballpark Blog has some stuff (today’s and yesterday’s diaries) that’s news to me. Most things are news to me several days/weeks/millennia after they’ve happened, so I’m sure you already know that stuff.

That’s the only A’s/baseball-related link I’m gonna put, because if I spend more than a few minutes typing, I’ll get DLDblocked again and have to delete. :P~~~

So I’ll leave you with something that illustrates why I have noooo desire to ever perform on-air journalism… I’m absolutely positive this would happen to me:

I don’t know what to write about. Maybe I’ll write an article about not knowing what to write about. It’s because of this modern-day phenomenon, that keeps me from having an endless supply of things to write about–that’s what the problem is. (I can relate.)

The F**K?! That can’t possibly be true!

I am almost afraid to hold out hope for this.

The double standard of the newballpark blog becomes more apparent all the time. Current Oakland attempts are “bickering” and “recriminations;” San Jose ones are savvy planning. Oakland’s words are “arguing through the media;” Wolffish’s are just defending their approach (and “echoing the sentiment of this blogger”).

And Oakland’s potential sites are of dubious viability while San Jose is now Plan A…even though the most important element, how the stupid thing would be financed, is identically murky for a park in either city.

Marine Layer is a great resource and has a depth of understanding rivaled by few others, and certainly not by me. But he long ago stopped being a dispassionate evaluator of Bay Area sites and became a South Bay advocate. Which is fine, and he’s a good one…but he should drop the pretense of objectivity already.

That doesn’t make you a bad fan, that just makes you a regular fan like the rest of us that won’t be going to as many games in a new $$$tadium anywhere. They could build a park right next to my apartment and I still wouldn’t be able to go to more than 10 games a year just because of the price of tickets…

WTF is Wrong with T-Long Watch

Perusing his numbers … well, heck, you can see that he’s doing poorly, but why? My guess: he needs glasses/contacts/LASIK, and/or he’s simply being thrown a whole lot mroe slop than he ever saw in the NL. Even though he’s not being thrown any more pitches outside the zone, he’s swinging at a lot more of them, and swinging less often at strikes in the zone (and, consequently, making crappy contact). He’s still swinging at the same proportion of pitches overall, though, which I find intriguing — I think that argues against any idea that he’s “pressing.”

    All SSS caveats apply.

I’ll hold out hope that one of you know: Cal Poly won’t fit in the scoreboard tonight, so what do I go with as an abbreviation? CP? CPU? CP-SLO? Is “Poly” okay?

This will solve all our problems.

This is actually kind of puzzling. The two obvious candidates to take Eveland’s place in the rotation (Gio and Gallagher) have both pitched in long relief too recently to go tomorrow. That leaves Mazzaro (scheduled to pitch for Sacramento tomorrow) or, less likely, Edgar Gonzalez (ditto tonight) both of whom have been put up numbers that are ok but not great in AAA, and neither of whom is on the 40-man roster.

As for Copeland, I guess I’m just hoping he’s good enough to replace DFAvis as a defensive replacement/pinch runner. And the fact that he’s left-handed might turn out to be a positive, as Geren won’t be tempted to use him as a platoon starter.

YooouuuTuuube offers an interesting way to watch YouTube videos.
It shows a series of cascading still images that move at the speed of regular videos.

These movie plot summaries reminded me of the Marin Independent Journal’s summary for the Wizard of Oz:
“Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.”
