#Athletics at #Phillies: Weeks 2b, Pennington ss, Sweeney cf, Matsui lf, Jackson 1b, DeJesus rf, Suzuki c, Sizemore 3b, Moscoso 1

Moscoso-Worley sounds like a wonkish bit of finreg legislation that’ll eventually pass the House in watered-down form: “Series 7, Moscoso-Worley Compliant”
I was assuming that Moscoso-Worley was a new addition to MHA and HOPE. I was preparing for annual refresher courses of 45 minutes to review new Moscoso specific content…
Here’s hoping Moscoso lasts 45 minutes.
I don’t like seeing Jackson’s name in the lineup when Chris Carter is on the 25 man roster.
Do you ever like seeing Jackson’s name in the line up?
Against a lefty, sure.
Every time is see jackson in the lineup it just reminds me of how poorly the A’s were constructed this year.
I feel the same way when I see Suzuki, except replace “this year” with “since 2006”.
I panned the contract at the time too. Danny gave me a ton of shit for it. But I do think hes probably the only position player you can trade and get a win for.
Doubtful, considering how bad his surface stats have gotten and how the contract wasn’t that team friendly to begin with.
The problem there is internal replacement. Which is why I’d like a blockbuster SP deal.
Gio + Gojira for Montero + Swisher
I think that’s underselling Gio.
Who would give you parts that would let you contend next year with for a SP?
Who said anything about next year?
Then you should trade everybody
It’s an interesting question: flushing 2011 and 2012 — how many years beyond that automatically get flushed as well?
I’m leaning strongly toward the “blow it up” side — and have been since ’06, but Billy’s kept wavering and half-assing it.
But how far does “blowing it up” go? Gio? Cahill? Anderson (once/if he comes back and establishes himself as healthy … -ish)? Jemile?
You only part with Gio and/or Cahill if you get a Haren sized return. They’re young, cost controlled and have a history of staying healthy.
Right. The way you do it is the way he did it last time: “hey guys, I’m trying to decide what to do with the franchise. Store’s open but nothing is on sale”
So try to deal the spare parts come July and wait until the offseason to shop the pretty-pretty?
Depending on the deal. If a CC or Beckett or someone goes down there might be some great leverage.
But barring catastrophic injury to someone’s Ace it would probably be best to shop the shiny during the offseason.
Depends. You waste a couple months of value but you might get more buyers. How that applies to top-line starters in 2011 I don’t know.
I have no problem with Jackson as a 4th-5th outfielder.
Unfortunately, that’s not how he’s being used right now.
Old Bob’s platoon of Jackson and Sweeney was one of the few things he did right. New Bob’s insistence on treating Jackson like it’s 2008 is annoying.
Agreed. It was the best part of old bob.
Moscoso, Worley, and Associates– Architecture for Modern Life
…
And this is their worst pitcher?
Jesus, this guy is just throwing fastballs and we can’t hit shit.
You sound surprised.
Why?
Moscoso & Worley — an unsuccessful Tin Pan Alley songwriting team.
… That’s right: no hits.
Hippo Vaughn and Fred Toney.
I guess I jinxed it.
And just like that…
“You’re a bunch of asses.”
Ibanez’s picture looks like it already has the JL treatment.
why the f*** do we keep seeing fuentes’s stupid face in critical situations?
Proven. Closer.
Well. He did prove to close out the game.
And has done 8 times.
FUUUUUCK!
Fuck.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU strikes again.
Worst free agent signing in quite awhile. And we’re probably gonna get swept.
Two late-and-close losses in three days without Bailey reaching the mound.
For all that nBob caused a winning streak, I will say oBob is better at the bullpen usage. Maybe nBob feels he owes his job to Fuentes?
If Bob didn’t want to bring in Bailey in a tie game situation, he could’ve at least brought in Balfour for Francisco, but he seems to be utterly incapable or unwilling to make pitching changes during an inning.
There goes half of our six game winning streak.
And once again, Andrew Bailey didn’t pitch in a crucial, tie game situation.
f*** you bob f*** you brian I hate this f****** team
I’m certainly getting there. Couple this game with that 13 inning fiasco, and, yeah, I fucking hate this team.
Oh, New Bob…
For all the focus here on bullpen management and Fuentes
…and he’s fucking right. We gave up one run in nine innings, with Moose Costco and Fuentes pitching. We should win that game.
To be fair, the Phillies are one of a very few teams with better pitching than us. And we can’t hit.
The bully is within mtnb’s control, and he definitely did not maximize our chances of winning.
