FKing tailgate dates? 39

EDIT: I set up a scheduling poll to help us see which dates will work best. Click here.

This year’s FKing tailgate should be the best FKing tailgate ever! Everyone who’s ever posted lurked or even derided us elsewhere needs to show up.

Please review the list of summer home game weekends below, and post regarding your availability and preferences. Make sure to note dates you cannot make; the process of elimination might make the best choice clear.

This is of course to identify the best date for the 2011 all-hands par-tay, and is by no means to the exclusion of smaller, simpler FKing par-ties.

Home weekend dates through Labor Day:

June 18-19 vs SF (Sat18 605p, Sun19 105p)

July 2-3 vs AZ (Sat2 605p fireworks, Sun3 105p)

July 4 vs SEA (105p, Monday holiday day game, visor giveaway)

July 16-17 vs LAA (Sat15 1:10p doubleheader, Sun17 MC Hammer bobblehead)

July 30-31 vs MINN (Sat30 605p, Sun31 105p Suzuki jersey)

Aug 13-14 vs TEX (Sat13 1:10p Fosse bobblehead, Sun14 1:05p Atleticos hat)

Aug 20-21 vs TOR (Sat20 6:05p fireworks, Sun21 1:05p)

Sept 3-4 vs SEA (Sat3 1:05p, Sun4 1:05p pink argyle scarf)

Sept 5 vs KC (105p, Monday holiday day game). The A’s have three holiday Monday home day games this year, which is awesome.

Post your thoughts, I’ll monitor the responses and will post a new decision-time thread in a week or so.

I cannot make the July 16-17 or Aug 20-21 weekends.

The June 18-19 Giants weekend might work, if we achieve critical mass quickly enough. A July 4 tailgate (I’d bring the bunting!) sounds mighty appealing, but may conflict with other patriotic plans. July 30-31 looks inviting.

I cannot make July 2-3-4, August 13-14, or September 3-4-5.

I already have tickets for July 16 (doubleheader), July 30 & 31, and August 21. Would be happy to get tix for any of the other available dates if selected.

I cannot do the Giants weekend (June 18-19).

And cannot do July 16-17 (I’ll be there both games, but not early enough to tailgate on the 16th, and on the 17th I will be in line for ANOTHER BOBBLEHEAD THAT I INEXPLICABLY MUST HAVE, EVEN THOUGH I WON’T HAVE ANY ROOM FOR IT IN NEW DIGS). Yes, packratism is an incurable genetic disorder. I give up.

And cannot do Aug. 13 (yes, for the same reason as July 17), or Aug. 14 (Mom’s birthday).

But I can probably do any of the other dates. :)

Yeah, must-have bobblehead games aren’t well-suited for tailgating.

Since your move appears to be forcing you to purge some stuff, then you must be making at least psychic space into which new stuff can be added.

I have a bunch of value deck tickets for 6/19 (6 total, so me, Mrs. N, LB and 3 more) if that’s enough to get started.

Mrs. N and I also have 7/17 tickets.

Other than that, the July and August games are much more likely to work, both because we are work-swamped in the short term and because we’ll be doing a kitchen remodel and living with my parents so any excuse to get out for a day will be well received.

I got season tickets to all weekend games in the value deck.

Then it looks like we’re at Me, Mrs. N (hopefully), MB clan, one unclaimed.

        Any takers?

We should keep a Return of the Jedi event in mind, too, which I guess would be later in the summer?

Ooooh–I’m back on July 28th, but should be OK for that following weekend. Sundays are a no-go for me (but don’t let that stop you guys from congregatin’). So, basically, Saturdays starting July 30.

    I can’t do 6/18-19 or 7/2-4.
Have tickets for the 7/16 doubleheader, 8/14, and 9/3. And may add 7/31 for the giveaway.

Schedule-wise, none of those would rule me out. But unless I get a promotion PDQ, I’d need to start courting corporate sponsorship in order to attend.

I’d be happy to sponsor with the three other Giants day-game tix.

Cool. Hopefully we can pull LB’s nose out of the CT threads long enough to come too (and the rest of you FKers will consider showing up to boo the Giants)

6/19 (which I take it you saw above)

Be there with bells on! Wait, we gonna be able to sit together if the tickets are sold out?

                  Iunno.

I might be able to make a Monday game. Anything else is highly unlikely.

Simple – should work well to get the best head count.

  9. obliquè May 28,2011 11:35 pm

I can’t make the June game; everything else is possible!

  10. ptbnl May 29,2011 10:19 pm

Oooof – work travel now till July 5th, then in-laws here for the missus’ & daughter’s adjacent birthday weekends, then 10 days in Cazadero spanning the August weekends, and September is anyone’s guess (so I’ve marked it as yes, though it’s really maybe, which doodle can be set to allow).

    So I’m all for the Jedi-welcoming 30th.

If this is His will, He's a son of a bitch.
    • JediLeroy May 29,2011 11:07 pm || Up

I admit that the 30th looks appealing to me, even if my internal clock is still all fubar’d at that time.

There’s also the chance that within a month or two after I get back, I will have moved to Seattle (or some other place with Japanese-related jobs). Then again, the Bay Area’s got plenty of Japanese speakers, too.

Any ideas about how I could afford rent in the Bay Area?

I was going to say “sell a child” when I realized that I can’t recall hearing anything about Mrs Jedi & Dylan recently (though I’ve been on Alaskan internet, so I could easily have missed it).

Looks like July 30 is the people’s choice. Mark your calendars! I’ll post period reminders and will convene a planning/ticket buying thread sometime this summer. And I’ll unsticky this thread now, as it has very much served its purpose. W00t!

Sorry I didn’t respond to the poll, but if July 30 is the winner then I am marking my FKing calendar!

That looks like as good a weekend as any for a Bay Area trip for me so count me in. With a little advance planning this time around I’d most likely get there in time to see the Friday night game as well.
