Area 51? Here’s hoping TweedleBret has a better outing than TweedleTrev.
TweedleBret?
Hunh. Playing around with Fangraphs advanced batting and plate discipline tools, I’m more and more convinced that the A’s have a new organizational batting philosophy — basically, they’ve hired Jason Kendall as their batting coach.
In addition, of course, to hiring a bunch of bad hitters.
Case in point
Of course, when you’re facing Joel Pineiro …
Everyone in the lineup has one hit now.
And all but Mark Ellis have left someone on base.
Hunh. Trying to avoid being Frank … so this will be even more obscure than usual:
Watch out, I hear Terrible Ted doesn’t react kindly to opposing viewpoints.
Cue Balfour griping to the media about Geren bringing him in to a 4-0 game in 3 … 2 …
I was thinking the same thing.
Well, he hadn’t pitched since Sunday, so there’s some defense for the move on a “need to get him some work” basis.
I was mostly joking.
I’m trying to be wary of confirmation bias, but it really does seem like the performance of relief pitchers who are usually used in high leverage situations becomes markedly worse when they’re used in non-save/non-high leverage situations.
Should be an easy enough study to run.
If only someone had a fancy subscription and wasn’t walking on a glacier.
Hey – I was busy giving my “Big Bang, Big Iron” talk today.
I was thinking there: good thing the Angels haven’t got anyone like a Russell Branyan on the bench to pinch- aw shit where’d he come from?
There’s a $4.75 “value beer” for Coors Light or similar but I paid $9.50 for 24 oz. of something drinkable (Firestone Double Barrel). I didn’t see any free kraut.
Have you tried to do any pre-game drinking in the parking lot? Last I heard the d’Anaheim PD actively issued open container citations in the ballpark lot for such scurrilous behavior.
It’s very clearly signed that consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the stadium parking lot. I didn’t see any significant tailgating going on last night and didn’t really expect any for a 12:30 game. There’s an office park across the street to the south that charges $5 for parking and that might be the place for grilling and drinking; walking through there after today’s game I saw somebody had a grill set up.
Given Angelenos of Los Angeles inability to restrain themselves, I don’t know that I’m opposed to The Man holding down the partay.
Anecdotal evidence notwithstanding, I doubt the residents of LA are more prone to mayhem than those of NYC, Chicago, Dallas, etc.
We Northern Californians, of course, are superior evolved beings.
Exactly. I am in favor of beer being banned in all parking lots but that of the Coli.
CLUCKING FIENTS!!!
It’s a damned good thing their money is green, and sometimes timely paid. ‘Cuz otherwise, I’d be very happy to step backward several evolutionary stages and kick the FKr’s ass who just cost me two months’ work for no.good.reason.
FK!!!
/carry on.
Condolences dearest DF.
Being trapped in my own corporate hell right now I do sort of understand the pain of the client, boss, etc who wastes your time or just simply doesn’t get it. But it is a special circle of hell that the morans who do it with no logical reason should be bound to.
Stay strong, put some irish cream in the
coffeewhiskey tomorrownight, etc…[Fixed, per TDF — and thanks!]
