The entropy of the A’s offense at room temperature 67

  1. So: Frank McCourt … played by Bruce Dern, or the guy who played Deke Slayton in The Right Stuff?
  2. I think my floating A’s stadium is one step closer to being realized
  3. Your A’s color scheme/Giants-themed infographic of the day (no, I do know what it’s actually modeled on)
  4. Sounds tasty, albeit misspelled
  5. TWPKS:

    That’s going to be hard.

  6. TWFGS:

    The tight vertical spread is particularly incredible

  7. Great story about the … pitching coach for the Stockton Ports? I did not know that. (Also: the Kruk detail makes me feel old.)

      And Phoebe Snow. When I worked at Slim’s, I had to drive her to KBLX for an interview, and the whole outing took about 6 hours. After the interview she wanted me to take her to the “washing machine church,” which I finally realized she meant St. Marys. Then she wanted to go to a health food store, so I took her to Rainbow. She bought a bottle of bulk aloe vera. Now this was about 18 years ago, so I had no idea you could drink aloe vera. Driving around, all I could think was “this woman is crazy, she’s sitting here drinking hand lotion.”

    Two hockey Game 7’s tonight: Buffalo at Philly at 4:30, followed by Chicago at Vancouver at 7:00, both on Versus. Hockey Game 7’s rank very high on the list of most exciting sports events of any kind.

    Also: is tomorrow’s A’s game at LAA really a 4:00 PM start time? That’s weird.

      It has to be a day game because the A’s have a home off-day on Thursday (it’s in the CBA). I’m not sure why they chose 4 p.m. instead of early afternoon, but the time does allow the A’s to make an almost unheard-of national television appearance on ESPN Wednesday Night Baseball.

    Via Sully, this guy thinks Haley Barbour “actually did run for president.”

    I have a slightly different conclusion based on the evidence he marshals: Barbour didn’t “actually” (Sully’s word) run — his participation in the “invisible primary” was about the same thing Frank McCourt’s management of the Dodger finances was. It’s just part of the wingnut welfare program.

    A while ago we talked about a possible tailgate for next Tue, 5/3. I got 8 of the $2 tickets, and as of last check 6 or 7 are spoken for (Andeux 2, FSU, LB, PTBNL?) plus me and the ms. Any other takers? FSU, will that day still work for you to set up for a little pre-game grillin, free Tuesday style? Poppy, you’re going to that game too, no?

    I can bring the tickets that day, or if anyone wants to get them in advance I’ll also be going to Rickeyhead day on Saturday so we could try to meet up then. Speaking of which, who else is going Saturday?

    • nevermoor Apr 26,2011 2:54 pm || Up

      I’ll be there with Mrs. N and my parents. We’ll be in 111 so if Don wants to sit immediately behind us again he should tell me in advance.

      We plan to arrive early.

          So, since you’re in 111 are you going to be waiting in line at C Gate? I usually go to D Gate myself, but could be flexible. I will also be trying to coordinate with Andeux to go together early.

          • nevermoor Apr 27,2011 10:04 am || Up

            We’ll probably use D too, since we’ll be driving. Coordination sounds good to me. Do they still let you leave and re-enter with your bobble-loot?

      Grilling Tuesday still sounds very good to me. Don’t yet know exactly what time I can get there by…likely 5:00, but won’t know for sure until later this week. But I’ll plan on bringing a small grill, coals, plates/utensils, and some Saags buns and condiments.
