I think these teal alternates are the ugliest uniforms in baseball. The problem may be that the cap doesn’t match; a teal bill on the cap might help some.
It was a weak-ass play, because he had ample time to get his body in front of the ball, but he might then not have had a throw anywhere, so maybe if you give him that, you can torture events enough to construe the play as requiring more than a usual effort to get an out, and thus maybe not an error. But he fucked up the play, pure and simple. E, sez I.

I haven’t attended an A’s road game in a few years now. When the schedule comes out I take a look and there are always a few candidates but the answer has been no. Then I watch the games on TV and it never fails; I think, “Thank goodness I didn’t travel to see this.” The current series in Seattle was high on the 2011 candidate list.
Of course the same thing happens with Cal football games. Although they played UNR up here in Reno this past season so I couldn’t avoid that stinker.
I did a lot of my baseball traveling before the era of new ballpark building. Places I can think of that don’t exist anymore where I saw the A’s play: Tiger Stadium, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, Comiskey Park, County Stadium in Milwaukee, Arlington Stadium.
I saw them many times at Metropolitan Stadium, now the site of the Mall of America. At least they had the decency to name the main street into the mall Harmon Killebrew Way.
I’m ok in that the potential for really bad complications has passed. I’m not ok in the sense that I still feel pretty crummy and the side effects of the curative procedures sometimes feel worse than the disease.
Right back at ya buddy – whatever I’m going through it’s a fraction of whatever your little girl is bravely handling. Best to you and your family. Keep fighting, Mia.
Milton Bradley is wearing earplugs. Good idea…hard to see him sticking with it, though
My heckling is falling on deaf ears tonight.
Custastic!
Crap.
yay

Yeah, the teal itself I could live with, but there’s nothing to connect it to the rest of the ensemble in any way.
Yeah, I think they would be ok (in a cheesy 70s/80s retro way) if paired with an appropriately-colored cap with the old trident M.
Goodness, Kz just pulled a Crosby.
Kz’s swing looks like it’s getting worse, if that’s possible.
Ouch, weak play by Pennington there.
You can’t be Olé-ing a ball off Jack Wilson’s bat like that.
Olé indeed — that brings up memories of Davey Lopes’ days as the A’s second baseman.
but **** doesn’t think it was an error.
In other news, the radio update buttons don’t work with Chrome. Thought you FKers just all turned in early…

Agreed.

hmmm, okay.
Don’t know how much more of this I can take. I think I’ll head up into the hills soon and listen to Robert Plant instead.
Awful slide.
Kz can’t run either!
As bad as the contact play often is, it’s 100 times worse when you break late for home.
And don’t slide smart
Watching these two teams play baseball is like watching old people fuck.
LOL
without the benefit of performance-enhancing drugs.
Right down to the teal coloring.
horrible, yet none of us can look away?
exactly.
It may be ugly, but it’s still

If you’re about to tell us stories of the times you’ve watched old people fuck…please don’t.
One time, in Sarasota…
/comment about every other commenter’s mother.
At least it won’t be another 1-0 loss.
[sigh]
Hey, if the sharks can come back from 4-0…
Am I imagining it, or is Fosse doing a lot more live promo ad spots during the TV broadcasts this year?
watching and listening to KK.
Size 17 shoes is ridiculous.
big feet.
Feet.
The last three innings of this game are going to take two hours, and still no one else will score.

I’ve only twice seen the A’s play on the road. Once in the Kingdome in 1979 or 80, and this horrible game in Anaheim in 2004.
Ah, you remind me, I saw the A’s in Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium once also, early-mid 80’s. That was nice old park.
Saw the A’s several times in old Commisky, County Stadum in Milwaukee, whatever that place in Cleveland was called.
Of course, I grew up there. An A’s fan.
I saw them many times at Metropolitan Stadium, now the site of the Mall of America. At least they had the decency to name the main street into the mall Harmon Killebrew Way.
All it will take now is for Matsui to make an out in the top of the 9th and the entire starting 9 will be hitting between 200 and 250.
He proved up to the task.
Color me shocked.
Meanwhile…
Crapp.
(had to add the extra p, as I’ve already commented “crap” once in this thread.)
It was particularly cunning of Bob to get Jackson’s out into the mix, dropping his average to 250 too.
The beer card.
Nice teAse, though.
Will the Acorns continue their valiant drive to the cellar tonight? Tune in to hear.
In case it might appear that I take BA to be a meaningful measure, let me also observe that the A’s have but one regular with a 3-digit OPS+
Daric Barton 100
Josh Willingham 97
Hideki Matsui 97
Kurt Suzuki 93
Mark Ellis 82
David DeJesus 71
Coco Crisp 59
Kevin Kouzmanoff 43
Cliff Pennington 41
I’m surprised to see Matsui so high and Coco so low.
Someone gonna throw up? Oh, I’ve got you covered. Hard to tell if it’s the drugs or watching the A’s highlights.
Are you ok?
I’m ok in that the potential for really bad complications has passed. I’m not ok in the sense that I still feel pretty crummy and the side effects of the curative procedures sometimes feel worse than the disease.
Is there anything we can do?
Not really, unless you really, really, *really* like kids. And the far reaches of the East Bay.
If it would help, yes.
Much appreciated.
Fortunately for us, mrs trebuchet’s dad just agreed to drive down from OR. Between him, my folks, and my sister, I think we’re covered now.
The biggest bummer was that mrs trebuchet was supposed to defend her thesis last week. The one time in seven years I was supposed to watch the kids…
So she brings a couple of kids to her thesis defence … what could go wrong?
Just think if she was getting her PhD in wymyn’s studies …
Yeah, no kidding. “Just sit in the back with a bowl if cheerios and ignore the slides about brehmstraahlung…”
“Mom, you’ve got a typo there.”
Where you at? If Muir Concord I’ll hike on down.
My oldest niece was born there. Wait. That’s not the one in Walnut Creek, is it? Nevermind.
Mia’s there with you on the throw up. Hope you feel better.
Right back at ya buddy – whatever I’m going through it’s a fraction of whatever your little girl is bravely handling. Best to you and your family. Keep fighting, Mia.
Need someone to hold back your hair?
