All negative vibes are suspended until further notice (unless they can be appropriately and safely directed toward the Red Sox only)!

Far better expressed than I could do, but I echo the sentiment entirely.
Redoubled.
Yes. Much love.
Yes, indeedy !
Lily’s going to flip over that – what’s the story? It seems to be filed under “gadgets” at huffpo?
GIS: puppy heart — that and many others — many oif which I think were bogus/too perfect. This one looked real to me.
BTW, nothing gruesome in the first screen of them.
Hugs to JL, Mia and family!!
OK, so now might we finally get Barton at 3B?
Nope.
Ah well. Partly in keeping with today’s theme, but also partly because I take the longer/process view with games like this (i.e., lots of baserunners = good; few runs = unlucky), but this loss doesn’t bug me at all.
Yeah. Splitting with the Red Sox is good.
Allowing < 3 runs/game is good. Getting 10+ hits in a game is good.
Yeah — there were a lotta ways it could’ve been better, like a few spare inches on the left field foul line — and several ways it could’ve been worse — esp DDJ going two-for-three on tough catches. By complete luck we were under the 229 overhang. That’s a good view, but for the fact that it’s hard to gauge the flight of line drives to left.
And dear lawd I hope Gio’s next stage is to learn some efficiency — too many full counts. Powell continues to impress me with bat and arm, and Sweeney still seems to be good for an extra-base hit/start. Bucholtz should’ve been called for delay of game, or something.
Desktop trebuchets? Desktop trebuchets.
Hi. Sorry to be off-topic. This is Mrs. Salb918 here. I just wanted to let you guys know that my husband is in the hospital with no internet access and he hopefully will be discharged in a few days.
Yikes. Is there anything we can do? Is he ok?
Whoa. Sorry to hear that. We’ll add him (and you and the kids) to our prayer list. Please keep us informed as best you can.
Seriously, is there anything we can do for him?
Yikes — I hope he’s OK, or if not, that he will be soon.
Yes, please do let him know we’re thinking of him & keep us posted if you can. I’m sure your hands are full, especially with young’uns…
Seconded.
My prayers and thoughts are with you guys (and we guys). Hospitals aren’t much fun–hopefully the stay will be short.
Please send him our best wishes.
You’re a lot closer than Japan though – seriously, if there’s anything you need we don’t just do hand-me-down A’s gear.
Oh no! Send him our best wishes.
Yikes! Tell him we can read game thread comments to him over the phone if it would help…of course, our sparsely commented game threads being what they are, there’ll be a bunch of long awkward silences, punctuated by moments of anger, celebration, and wicked hilarity. Kind of like most MIT students’ dates.
OK, that was funny.
We used to go to the ice rink on campus to skate a few laps and watch the awkward undergrads attempt to date.
Still in the hospital – temporart 4G access. No end in sight. The Doctor actually used the term “day-to-day.” Sadist.
Get well soon! Free Kraut needs your offense!
He should have told you to just rub some dirt on it and you’ll be fine.
I sure do hope you’ll be fine soon.
me too.
Let us know how we can help.
Quality Kraut Singles fight of scurvy, for example.
Yar.
Guys, this means a lot to me. Thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts. I’m happy to report that Mia’s surgery went well, and that she’s in the ICU recovering for the next few days. She hasn’t needed a transfusion yet, but if her anemia worsens, she might. We’re praying for a boring, eventless recovery. Let’s keep these good thoughts and prayers going for the trebuchets, as well.
Hurrah!
I wholeheartedly approve of boring medical encounters. Let’s hear it for a snoozefest from Mia! Hip-hip… zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…
That’s great news!
Any sign of her youngest sibling?
As of today, mom’s been pregnant for 34 weeks. But last night, of all nights, mom had Braxton Hicks, and the nurse from the clinic said over the phone that she’d likely be admitted. After a 10PM visit to the doctor, she got sent home to rest, which made her able to come to Matsuyama with me for the surgery today–an answer to my prayers. Last night was truly one of the most stressful nights of my life. This past day has been pretty crazy.
I’ve got a lot of thoughts brewing that will eventually become a TL:DR blog entry which I’ll surely link here.
JL Jr. v3.0 needs to wait 3 or 4 more weeks (if he waits 4, my mom will be able to attend the birth). That was a close call.
Yikes/Whew — hang in there JL! So far so good — you-all are in our thoughts (together with the recollection that MB once played washtub bass for the Braxton Hicks — before they, you know, contracted.)
I also played timpani and cymbals for The Caesarean Section (an all-percussion ensemble based in Rome)
Separated at birth?
I remember Braxton Hick’s mid 90’s power-ballad “Unbreak my Water”
This is a good joke that made me laugh and needs some recognition as such.
YAY!
Yay!!
Best news I’ve heard all day.
Update: The doctors called this morning to say that she’s doing great and that they’re ready to move her out of the ICU and back to where we were before the surgery. I have a meeting with the city insurance department to get the financial stuff squared away early this afternoon, after which I’ll head back out to the hospital to start the rest of my stay with Mia during her recovery.
Fantastic news!
So happy to hear that! How’s Mrs. JL? Any more Braxton-Hicksing?
She’s doing great. None since that night. That was a pretty crazy night. I feel very blessed that things are going so well. I hope Sal’s doing ok.
I sent a Fb message to Mrs. Sal, but haven’t heard how he’s doing. She’s probably near overload, though… I’m glad they’re back here near family…
Hurrah again!
She’s a little fighter! Go Mia go!!
That’s great news!
Excellent stuff, JL. Best of luck! :)
Great to hear!
yay!
