Did Walter Haas want the SF market? 1

Neil DeMause (proprietor of Field of Schemes) returns to BPro with an item on the A’s/San Jose/stadium situation.

There’s nothing new to us in it, but it does seem to be much more accurate than any of the other national/internet wrapups we’ve seen of late.

The one detail that did strike me as original was DeMause’s contention that Haas, in granting Lurie T-rights to the South Bay, actually had his eye on expanding A’s marketing into SF. Haven’t seen that (explicitly) argued before. It’s certainly an interesting, and debatable/defendable, point. Neukom, in particular, could make hay with it, in that there was an anticipated value to that expanded market Haas would have gotten in return for the SB/SJ rights.

Oh, OK, there is one other new thing: DeMause suggests Montreal as a possible relo site for the A’s.

    Uh-hunh.

you better hope to God you don't show up in this little community, because you'll wish you had never come
