    1. Geren is either trying to get fired, trying to see if Beane is actually paying attention, or … an idiot. I vote “Idiot.”

    2. Why not just drop Larish back in at 3B again for Kz?

    3. Why not put Powell in at C?

    4. If you’re not gonna put Powell in, why not at least drop Zk down in the lineup?

      1. You’d have thought allowing Barton to become a sac bunting machine would have served as a good test of Billy’s attention level by now. So the answer could be No.

Actually, Barton, who had 10 sac bunts in the A’s first 78 games, has only 2 in the last 47 games, and none since July 28. My impression has been that said message was (belatedly) delivered.

A year after hitting 37 doubles, Kurt Suzuki has 11 this year.

He’s been paid, so he no longer cares.

This might be one of the rare instances where I might agree with an argument that by hitting him in position X in the lineup, he’s been “pressing and trying to do too much.”

OK, this is an interesting move. I’m only prepared to fully endorse it if Geren’s willing to PH for Rajai later with a righty on the mound, though.

PH with … which one of Carson, Tolleson, or Powell?

        Powell.

        But, yeah, gp.

Rajai looked great there watching LaPorta’s longball sail over the fence. Cust looks so clumsy watching home run balls fly out of the park…

Would Ellis’ groundout (after Rajai stole 2nd) have been a DP ball with Cust on 1st?

Potentially a good point; I’ll have to plead a Phil Rizzuto “WW” there. Regardless, I hate taking your best offensive threat out in the 6th inning, whatever the defensive issues.

Ugh. I think my strategy for the rest of the season is: Watch the half-innings when the A’s are pitching/playing defense. When the A’s are batting: clean up the kitchen, run the washer and dryer, look at some online porn, whatever. At least until Chris Carter returns.
