Pumpkins are the grossest squashes.
Sports uniforms with orange are objectively hideous.
Spray tans.
Oranges the fruit are OK but were better in the original Sanskrit.
The best cheddars are white.
Five MLB teams wear orange. Three are evil, two are hapless.
Home Depot is a nightmare.
It’s too fucking hot out.
Friday 6:45, Sat 4:07 PM (?), Sun 1:05 PM
"Kraut will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no kraut."
This century only five of the 80 championships in the big four US pro sports have been won by teams with orange.
Dontrelle Willis making his A’s pregame debut today. I can’t hear anything he’s saying because I have loud fans blasting around me. But he has an Emmy award, turns out.
How are you getting into a stadium where there are loud fans?!?111?
ASVD.
my two favorite colors are #6a6c6e and #ff8800.
7 pitches
You know khris davis will have a long at bat
3 pitches will be better than the average so far
8!
Not much help from Seattle against Houston tonight.
Tromp is a giant catcher?
I don’t like the giants getting hits policy
no kris. only swing on 1 strike
Saw more pitches than all six guys before him, almost.
Krush makes me sad, but the C situation is starting to annoy.
at least he only made one out
I don’t get kemp here
those were terrible calls
What the fuck is up with this piece of shit zone.
Kemp get hosed as bad as Vince thinks there?
Kemp and Murphy each had two terrible strike calls against them.
Korach said the Giants liked this Tromp fellow for his framing. That one seems a little too obvious of a scam to work but guess not.
I’m out early, this game is too irritating.
No more watching A’s games for you…
FKing Pence?
I dont understand how baseball works. It just confuses me.
Drat.
George Gobel and Jim Bouton on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Much more entertaining.
These Giants aren’t even that hateable. It sucks.
I no longer lust after Belt, for example. Still deeply confused with how they handled his career though.
i was saying wendelken should start
I’m pretty sure I would have complained about any Plan B the A’s had once Montas scratched. Bullpen game, Mengden start, etc. But taking the wunderkind off his schedule maybe wasn’t the right move.
I assume they altered his throw day based on the extra days rest, yeah.
You heard of the swingin A’s, have you heard of the Flyball Pl-A’s-able
Nothing reported in the A’s dugout
I particularly liked how they gave no information about which zones would be turned off.
It’s a fucking third world utility provider at this point. Shoot ’em all.
(At least I get to sue ’em for securities fraud.)
Kemp is gonna be boog powell, huh?
I ahve no idea who is pitching
OK, Murphy Semien Kemp coming up, time to see some bench depth used.
free franklin
Geez, pulling Barreto out of the on deck circle is harsh.
Good night to hit says vince
HFS
Did not see that coming in the slightest
They just looked so flat in every way from the start.
Well now.
I turned on the TV for the 9th, made a teAse joke, watched us do a perfect teAse when we loaded the bases.
And then, well, hmmm.
Why not Austin Allen for pinder, bob?
I don’t know about that.
Would have been so much better to have Kemp still in the lineup in that situation though. Oh well.
I just feel like there were lots of disappointing managing decisions there. First, not PRing for Murphy as soon as he got on. I don’t know why Pinder still gets leeway for being a supposed “hot hand” when he’s hit for shit this year, but the guy hasn’t shown any ability to hit righties in his career and you have a left handed contact PH option in Machin where contact was needed. And that doesn’t even get into putting the bad hitting 2B in the 2 hole so you couldn’t have had Chapman come up with 1 out.
Forgot about manchin
So 20 minutes ago we were doomed.
Then we got better.
Lol, nid.
Dang Hendriks, that was impressive.
It was because I moved seats and stared shopping for records on the mac instead of my PC
I pledge to do that more
whatchu get, whatchu get, whatchu get?
i’ve been doing a lot of birthday shopping for myself this week.
Just now? uh? quintron and ms pussycat I think. I’d have to check the email. I also got a throw back Karl hendrix trio today, but it might have been in court.
I think i bought death valley girls yesterday, but also maybe gories? could have been today.
fun!
are you buying on discogs?
yes. and i get a gift cert from 1234 go every month
I am trying to load my collection in discogs. I am up to 2k. I have a bunch of records that aren’t in there. I put one in and it took me an hour
yeah inputting sucks.
i do bare minimum fields when i absolutely have to.
otherwise, i have a pile of un-entered records that every year i see if anybody else put them in yet.
i hate it when everything matches except the runout numbers. i usually add it anyway. i don’t need perfect versions, just trying to keep track of the collection so i don’t… buy the same record twice?
if its a dollar record, I just pick one and don’t look too deeply into the runout
The other day I picked a pile of un entered records, but didn’t realize until the 3rd record
My dad is doing the same with his books, and I bought him a handheld bar code scanner, which helped tremendously. Not sure how your collection relates to the barcode era, though.
yeah, the discogs phone app has a scanner.
but you guessed it. the name of the game in record value is pre-barcode pressings. (where applicable.)
The modern records (mostly) have bar codes that you can scan with your phone. it’s helpful and fun.
I wonder if books have the same nerd overload with pressing plants. There are some records that are more collectable if they were pressed in different plants and some certain people that were in charge of the pressing.
Yes. If not more (because they get a lot older than records).
I’m not into that world, but my understanding is that old books virtually never tell you whether they are first editions (and often, there are multiple print runs that are all “first editions” but of very different value). Then there are books that claim to be first editions but are not. He has an early printing of the Hobbit (in bad condition), and there were something like a dozen different indicia that needed to be combined to determine just how early a printing it was.
one of my friends just put out a 45 and I am still waiting for it to be input. The only version in is from when they went to spain before the cover was printed. I am waiting for someone to upload the “american” version
Funny too, because one of the people in the band has a Oakland tech going kid who offers an “input your records to discogs” service because he likes digging through records. And he won’t do it. (unless he is paid I assume)
discogs username? I’m colinflipper. Already friends with AV, so I can spy on his collection.
sidawi
that username has the right first name but it doesn’t have any records in collection. just 1 added (a marty oldman 45).
huh, that;s me and the only record I have finished putting in
I’ll check it out
i was being shy, its fixed now
awww. we have the same version of entertainment!.
when I get bored of entering shitty records, my next task is get them back in order. they have creeped out of categories and alpha since I lived on julian street 15 years ago.
When that happens I will really find the dupes and maybe shoot you that sorry ma triplicate that I swear I have, but haven’t been able to id since i said i’d give it to you
forgot we had that conversation.
and i was thinking about that record just this week.
(sorry ed, i don’t have anything in your want list.)
the no milk record in there, I just bought for 10 euros but it got damaged in shipping and the next one for sale was $100
sheesh.
pretty expensive for a band i have to ask you who they are cause i am clueless.
They are middle age probably toads from brazil

oh i expected vintage punk.
€10 sound right.
took me years to realize it was a database for my records. I used it like I used ebay in the 90s. looking for a specific record.
Then I saw someone complain on facebook about entering records in. It was a eureka moment.
My sister had painstakingly entered her records into a database program on her Apple McIntosh in the late 80s and I was always jealous, but saw how hard she worked on it and knew I could never do that.
I am working my way through. Took a break when I got pneumonia last year and just now got back into inputting.
related, the opposite of arhoolie*:
*joke requires pulling from memory what arhoolie founder chris strachwitz says of music he likes.
I checked. it was quintron. but not the one I thought I was looking for, that was odd
lol. the quintron recrod I thought I bought was open on my pc, but i was surfing through the rest of the store because you can’t get that one on vinyl from a US seller
bah. who among us?
turns out the record i was picking up when i got hit by that car was something i had already bought just 2 or 3 weeks earlier, and that first one was on purple vinyl so i really really should have remembered.
Baseball!
The comeback was epic
Traveling in Oregon, I saw the early score in a restaurant and wrote off the rest of the game, so I missed that one.
I prefer to focus on the crazy stat they gave us in game. We have 3 9th-inning-or-later tying or go-ahead grand slams. The rest of MLB has zero.
The A’s learned from the Angels earlier in the week. Instead of giving up, they didn’t give up
There’s so many times I think Piscotty has looked godawful, especially against righties, but he always seems to come up with big hit. He was really close in the first game of the last series too.
I don’t understand how baseball works. It just confuses me.
OK, now back to real problems.
Careful there Spain. Just because you lost control the term “Iberian” doesn’t mean you get to take our nickname “Nation of Idiots.”
Per Bruce Jenkins this morning, the San Franciscans will be putting names back on their (ugly) home jerseys next season.
At least they admit no one knows who any of ’em are any more.
Is there any reason to believe that Gabe Kapler is anything other than a very bad manager? Watching that ninth and reading quotes from guys like Cueto and Crawford over the last few weeks I don’t see how this ends well for him.
Didn’t his tenure in Philadelphia start with several disasters in the first couple of weeks?
It’s weird because in interviews he sounds reasonably smart, but then he makes really bad decisions.
Very rude of him not to tag first base, for example.
…
Good example pointed out by Grant. Why was the closer in last night with a big lead (and I guess theu are starting a long stretch) and why is he back in tonight?
Well, how many times is (was?) he going to get a chance to give the Giants a win?
Grant’s living his best life.
I have a hard time believing the Gnats think he is a good manager. I think, at most, they think he can develop kids until they get a core and then they go get a real manager. He’s their Bo Porter.
This guy keeps trollishly appealing to his base but that might hurt him come decision day.
You’d think after the 95.7 debacle he might take a second.
Trump Campaign Makes Huge Digital Ad Buy During Democratic Convention
Does anyone know how exactly this works? Is there a cap? If not, wouldn’t this be a great time for K-Pop fans to bankrupt the motherFKr?
I don’t know how it works but I’m getting a ton of Trump campaign ads on my fb feed. Surveys, donation request, all of that. Never seen them on my feed before.
will olson ever get a single again?
BABIP at .087
I wouldn’t mind him bunting against the shift more, depending on the situation. Leading off the inning would have been a good time.
He’s pretty good and seems to like it, makes me wonder if management told him to stop.
He had that one bunt right back to the pitcher. Haven’t seen him try since, but may have missed one.
Oh god, AJ Pierzynski is on this broadcast.
He’s not so horrible, not the sneering dickhead he was as a player. He’s clearly rooting for the Giants though.
He’s trying to position himself to take over for Kruk or Kuip.
And GTFOH with that story about a backdoor slider.
In the intro they were saying Gausman is a strike-thrower (23 K, 2 BB this season), but he was all over the place in that first inning.
He throws strikes and he throws hard. That’s usually enough to shut us down.
Looked a lot better in the second, unfortunately.
Manaea mixing pitches and hitting targets nicely that first inning. If he makes absolutely no mistakes today he’ll be fine…
Hitting Machin
a 2 run semien!
Barreled! And not like that Donnie Fake Name dude.
Really annoyed at this Tromp guy’s framing. Mostly because it’s really good especially in contrast to how bad our catchers are at it.
This is the first I’ve seen the Sims-style fake fans Fox has. Like 95% of the crowd is wearing orange, adding to the awfulness.
AUAB
Get someone up, Bob.
And now for our regularly scheduled Manaea Meltdown.
anybody up?
It’s like Manaea’s muscles stopped working right.
Enough is enough. FKing hell Manaea.
Bad pitch, bad fielding, bad relay. Trifecta of suck.
That pitch was so incredibly bad.
I wanted Manaea out of the rotation a couple starts ago. That feeling has only intensified.
He can still give you 3 decent innings as evidenced by today and most of his other starts. But the disappearing act is just not tolerable at this point so you need to put him in a tandem with someone else (I think it should be Smith).
It just looks so correctable (from my couch). He starts losing reliable location, usually with the slider, and his mechanics collapse and he starts missing in hittable spots.
be nice if kemp could get an extra base hit
.400 OBP though.
that is nice. But at some point he is just going to get challenged and not walk, i expect.
Yeah I also wonder at what point do the outfielders realize they can just play 40 feet back of the infielders.
Didn’t end up working out for Pence, did it?
Manaea settled back down, but they probably shouldn’t let him face the top of the order a third time.
Leading off the inning is also a good time for Matt Olson to hit a home run.
Oly!
Sounded like a good turnout of A’s fans in SF cheering on that HR.
Not every day the Giants fail to outdraw us in a game at their park!
It’s good to have you back, nm!
Khris or Pinder for La Machin?
Bringing in a lefty for Machin/Allen when we can just PH with better (ok, still not great) hitters seems like an error.
Keep using LOOGYs against us please.
vince even figured out that was a mistake, and he even knew why!
It’s time to rename the site Free Burch, right?
mengden?
Bartolo
the nipple.
I am turning into an old man with these strikeouts
Babe Ruf.
Sigh, he’s human after all. His velocity was also lower that second inning.
Of course he’s injured.
That’s a fun second sentence.
Muscular nature
So Athletics deeply hope
MRI Monday
Haikus are for Fridays. But nicely done.
The belly of the forearm is probably the most delicious part.
#COVIDgrilltips
That’d be a real problem, given we heed 4 innings out of him fairly regularly.
Crap
OK outing for Lou
Down to last two outs, I will now turn off the game and come back in 20 minutes.
good work
Unbelievable.
You aren’t allowed to watch any more 9th innings.
Tony Kemp double!
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Gott im Himmel.
THIS FKING TEAM
lol
Who can play first besides canha? Can Kemp play center?
never in doubt
2 and 0 without Laureano. Now we know what our problem was.
I only wish their fans were in the park to suffer through this.
Canha is awesome. The home run was impressive, but it was even more incredible that he took a couple of ridiculously hard to take pitches before that. He consistently has the best right handed at bats on the team.
i’ve been thinking Chapman is exactly the opposite recently. Which scares me.
If I am right, which I think I am, this is the first time the giants have blown a 3 run or grater lead since 8/14/2020
in the 9th inning! dammit
Ed how do you do that research so fast?
It’s not every day you end a closer’s career…
Forearm strain for Burch. FK curse it seems.
Finally someone admits it.
Hit ’em where they aint.
Hit ‘em where the CGI fans is.
Do you have to though?
maybe sunday. I don’t think this season you need to go back to back after 20+ pitches
That Kemp double was probably one of the 5-10 most entertaining doubles I’ve ever seen.
The thing about Pence is that even when he was good he looked like he had no business anywhere near a semi-pro league about 10% of the time. He kept that, and lost the peak talent.
Hunter or Mike?
had to scroll up to the op to figure that out
Hunter. Mikeis more like 80%. He was going to lose Indiana as a republican so he agreed to bail and lose the VP race for Trump’s TV network. He failed at that too.
I don’t know how you lose the ability to catch a flyball though. Its one thing, like me and jack cust, to never have been able to, but pence was a good outfielder and now its gone.
Maybe he just used to be athletic enough to make up for dopey routes and poor judgment.
Padres game ends with Jorge Mateo thrown out trying to score from first on a hit by Profar.
“Team speed? For Christ sake. You get fucking god dammed little fleas on the fucking bases, getting picked off trying to steal, getting thrown out, taking runs away from you. You get them big cock suckers that can hit the fucking ball out of the ball park, and you can’t make any god damned mistakes.” – Earl Weaver
I hated the Orioles back in the day, but damn do I love this Weaver quote.
I wonder if they tarped the infield at Oracle.
Today MLB honors the 100th anniversary of (the league’s own virulent and systemic racism making necessary) the founding of the Negro Leagues.
Please move the fences back out for Fiers.
Currently raining pretty vigorously in the West Bay. Don’t think this one will start on time.
The grounds crew was just hosing the infield grass on the pregame shot. May not have been live.
This being SF, it is entirely possible that the weather three miles from my location is completely different.
here in the mission, 3 miles from the park, there was some rain, but not much.
I will say the younger’s “practice” at McCoppin was canceled due to rain
As humid as it is I doubt we have the usual warm day game carry.
See? Kept Olson in the park.
And Chapman in the 5th.
Good call
Olsingle!
khris….
KD is fking awful.
Man, KD is really bad right now
Even Barreto can’t be less of a threat than KD right now.
5 pitches before KD’s at bat were balls, four afterwards, and possibly both during his PA, yet somehow he managed to turn that into two outs
Fiers showing Webb how to give up a run on a single pitch, instead of throwing 20 balls in an inning
Thanks Kapler
that was…odd
We bailed them out by playing KD, they bailed us out with shitty managing. Pretty even at this point.
Well the bright side is that we should get plenty of innings against their bullpen. And their “good” relievers aren’t available.
The bad news is that Fiers is no longer a major league quality pitcher.
I was ok with Yaz’ weird RBI bloop because it least it wasn’t a blast into the cove.
Maybe Davis can pitch and Fiers can DH
After being bypassed for Hendriks and Manaea, I expect Fiers to start Game 1 of the best-of-3 vs. the Orioles.
I remember thinking we had starting pitching to burn as the season kicked off. Well, we burned it alright.
Might be a Mengden-Kaprielian day for us though.
Well, it was.
Wtf how did that not go out
The giants are getting all the breaks and its only tied.
Speaking of breaks, if the first two games were a double header, the A;s are 0-2
Chadtastic!
i have this on an actual tv, the light right now is gorgeous
I think Kapler could’ve gotten his starter through the 5th, but whatever, thanks for giving us access to that bullpen early.
I was hoping KD would get a chance against that guy.
No more KD ever please.
I was happy with the pop up cause at least it gave Piscotty a chance to do that.
Melvin need to Barreto KD. I dont like it but he has to.
remember when khris davis could hit .147?
Ferris Bueller inning
Fun inning.
Fiers has a chance to get through the 5th.
I may not need to skip the 9th inning today, but I probably will anyway since it’ll be bedtime by then.
Great day for a Kaprielian debut.
He could even get a save.
Not like that, he cant.
At long last. And there’s a bullpen role up for grabs, he could win a job.
No ken and vince, that hit does not mean khris is back
LOL Gnats
The extent to which Piscotty crushed his homer cannot be overstated. He nearly got Coke on that thing.
Giants play the Angels next, shouldn’t we ease up at some point?
Best record in MLB.
14-24 –> .500 which would be very close to clinching a playoff spot. The 2014 team finished 15-23.
I’ve been thinking a lot about 2014 lately since this team is teAsing “best team in the league” vibes for the first time since then. Obviously the trauma of 2014 is still kinda there, because I can’t help my thoughts from straying to that ill fated season and trying to pick out any similarities and warning signs.
I guess the scary thing about 2014 was how steadily the decline happened, and how unstoppable and unexplainable it was like when it was happening. It just didn’t seem like a team with the 4 top line starters and 7 all stars could lead to such sustained losing for 2 months.
And of course there was a lot of blame on the Cespedes trade. I’m not in the camp that thinks it was the biggest factor, but it did matter a bit if for no other reason that he was healthy that year in the second half while it seemed like all the run producers on our team were not. And the injuries were really the crux of the issue – you see this lineup that Melvin trotted out in one of the most important games down the stretch (seriously 4/9 were Fuld, Callaspo, Parrino, and Sogard??) and it suddenly becomes very explainable why the team couldn’t hold onto the first half momentum.
So I guess what I’m trying to say (and convince myself of) is that what happened in second half 2014 wasn’t as out-of-nowhere or inexplicable as it seemed like at the time. And that we shouldn’t make comparisons between then and now unless suddenly 60% of the 2020 team starts dealing with injuries. Of course at 16-6 with just 38 left, this current team is still at such a small sample size, and you’ll never know if they’ll be as good as the 30 games over .500 peak of the 2014 team.
The bright side is that most of the core producers on this current version seem remarkably sturdy in comparison to some of the key guys on the 2014 team (knock on FKing wood). The one question is the current rotation which definitely has injury risks throughout. But with such a small sample of games played and games remaining, hopefully it doesn’t become an issue.
Another bright side – On the current roster, I don’t think there’s a transcendental figure who (probably wrongly) gets more credit than he deserves for the team’s success that Billy can trade away for some ill forsaken “all in” maneuver.
I don’t think it makes that much sense to blame the trade. Lester was great during the regular season and clearly better than Cespedes, although adding in Gomes maybe makes it slightly negative. The injuries (guys actually on the DL) were a huge factor, but maybe an even bigger factor was injury-adjacent problems with Moss, Coco, Kazmir that transformed them from stars in the first half to complete disasters in the second half.
This team I think is not as good on paper as the 14 team was in the middle of the season. The bullpen does not have anything close to the talent necessary to maintain #2 bullpen status where they are now, and the 4-5 spots in the rotation look dicey. The position players give the team a pretty high floor though.
Ok, here’s some more. The A’s of all teams had all of these players on the roster in one year:
Sogard
Callasppo
Fuld
Gentry
Punto
Parrino
Billy Burns
The above group accounted for about 25% of the team’s PAs that year! All of them had career worst years or close to it.
This team is deeper than the 2014 team was, better defensively, and doesn’t rely much on older or injury prone players. The pitching could be a house of cards, but that was true of the 2014 team too.
as far as the bullpen goes, I agree that many of them have over performed, and I don’t know what “#2” status really means, but I think its a pretty good staff and won’t turn into team dynamite in the next 60 games.
Manaea still concerns me, he got more swings and misses saturday, but it was the giants, we’l see with arizona.
Hopefully they will hit real pitching close to what they did this weekend.
God that’s one thing I remember so clearly about latter half 2014 – so many fking Callaspo appearances and how he literally couldn’t hit, field, or run.
Of course we thought it was over when he left as a FA after the season but then we immediately went out and got a 30 million dollar Callaspo.
When Callaspo came up with a man on third and 1 out in the 12th inning of the WC game, I remember thinking that it was the one and only time I was glad to see him, since the one thing he could do was make contact. And he not only made contact and got the run in, he exceeded expectations with a base hit!
It was kind of like when Ted Lilly (another player I never liked) pitched 7 innings of 1-run ball in a clinching game against an absolutely stacked Red Sox lineup.
Some players just aren’t meant to be the hero.
I wanted him to ph for Reddick instead of whoever he ph for against Scherzer for that reason…
I don’t know what you all are yammering on about, my notes show that the 2014 season ended on August 1.
But I liked how the russell trade traced out
Oh god
This year they get the Angels in the preround and can’t beat bundy or canning.
Why is Kapler leaving Belt in this game when he can’t run?
Is it safe enough for a Barreto at bat or two?
Welcome to The Show
That’s probably not how age 7 Kaprielian imagined this moment while playing in his back yard.
It could’ve been worse.
Ruh roh.
You mean “Ruh, Roel”
First time in MLB since 2008. When the WS did it.
Oy – I can just imagine hearing four consecutive ‘you can put it on the booooooooooooard! YES’ from the Hawk.
Don’t really know much about pitching mechanics but looking at that delivery, you can sort of see why the guy is always injured.
I don’t understand how anyone under 40 can have mechanics that weird. Somewhere in youth ball had to fix that.
I suppose they could have just figured it was working so why fix it.
The Giants’ defense is a never ending source of comedy.
LOLGIANTS
Kinda just feel bad for these guys at this point. I hate the institution of “the Giants”, but these guys are just castoffs and AAAA tier prospects who happen to wear a Giants uniform. Most of them won’t be in the majors for that much longer.
sucks for most of them they only get the 60 game pay.
I was looking at their roster earlier. It is sad.
Webb and Austin Slater look like the only players who might turn into something.
Solano and Yaz might be for real, but are late bloomers so not likely to have long peaks.
Pretty much everyone else is old and bad.
Do they have a good farm system?
I think most pubs have them around upper third now, and there’s guys like Bart and Luciano who are potential stars.
Assuming Vince thinks that RBI is the turning point for KD.
he hasn’t said that yet
Oh Franklin
I’m starting to think he has a decent chance of going hitless for the season.
Barreto managed to hit a ball fair.
Pinder understandably confused by the Giants making a tough play.
Dude, vince, I sent you that tweet about wilmer flores
3 grand slams for extras
I almost felt sorry for Gott after yesterday’s game.
Almost.
UNC’s in-person semester lasted all of 6 days.
“Slow to recognize what should be obvious.” Lesser known meaning of name Tar Heels.
“No, it’s the children who are wrong.”
Who could have predicted that college students would act like college students.
University of Cincinnati students moved in to campus this past weekend. I’m teaching online, but bracing for a surge in local cases.
I don’t see any way that doesn’t happen. I’m glad that Primera is moving down to her Isla Vista apartment next month, it let’s her continue to get some of the real college experience even though UCSB classes will be remote. Plus we’re already committed to the lease. She is super conscious about COVID safety and won’t see friends now who are “acting stupid.” But any dense assembly of people is going to spawn outbreaks, so once she’s down there we’ll require her to quarantine before seeing us next, which probably means no Thanksgiving visit home.
This has led to a couple of unintended “bright sides” for Lil Miss Aces.
She has to stay at home vs the dorm experience she was looking for= $ save.
She is doing virtual pledging for sororities which I guess is a much easier process than what they always do.
Also,as a result of all the unemployment changes she got a nice surprise for the few days she worked a holiday job last year. Between that, scholarships, and financial aid (which Fullerton still has not completed) her 1st year is likely paid for without loans.
The doctorK’s are having a rough time with this as well.
But that’s OK, we’ll still play a full Big XII football season.
This is fine.
Incredibly, Iowa State managed to avoid any COVID delays while winning the Big-XII regular season (FK the playoff game) and then stomping Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl. I am genuinely surprised, given that Iowa’s governor is a objectively stupid person, and the electorate seems to be as well. Credit should be given to the coach, who kept his guys in line.
This poor guy.
Sounds like he’s known about it since last year, will just pitch through the neck soreness until maybe a more invasive option at some future date. I think that’s BINGO on the MLB injury card.
I remember when I used to have a C6.
Seriously, that sucks for him. I hope it’s treatable.
Collective action? Is that a thing or just what a reporter typed?
It doesn’t look like anyone I know was a plaintiff
It means they coordinated but did not do a class action. E.g. if there are 30 Plaintiffs, they all have to go through the litigation, instead of having one be the active class rep.
No idea why that was better in this case, but sometimes it is.
I got a call on my home phone, text on my cell, and an email today all saying there might be rolling blackouts in the next four days.
Now seeing that 34,000 customers in Berkeley will be included tonight. But for some reason they still can’t say exactly who or when.
I did not get any such notice (besides generic countywide alerts). So maybe that means my part of Berkeley is fine…
I got a text. maybe ab email, i don’t read a lot of those
No rolling blackouts tonight.
The lack of information is absolutely infuriating. And my power went out mid-day today.
OK this is actually useful, and it looks like my address is safe for today.
Well, useful except the lookup tool says I’m in block 14C, but my last bill says I’m in block 5H.
Thanks, that is useful. I now know I’m in Outage Block 50, which I believe is shared with critical facilities which NEVER get rotating outages (in my case the senior housing adjacent to my back yard).
PGE’s text today says that 16,960 Berkeley customers will be affected, which is quite a specific number. Also note “customers” = households, so 3x as many people.
don’t turn me into an old man this inning
You’re not as old as doctorK but maybe catching up.
closing in fast apparently
Hah
A personal triumph … made it onto the Heritage Foundation hate-list!
Won’t someone think of the white scientists???
I love how they help amplify the message
He’s only a visiting fellow at Heritage. Think you need to try harder.
Huh, seems like you’re just recognizing our nation’s heritage…
… and of course (a) none of us are top executives, (b) it’s not even what we actually said, and (c) it’s then conflated with Argonne’s internal training materials.
Not top executives yet. A slam from Heritage can really brighten up a CV.
Is this Cancel Culture??
You’re #1 and you have your parents to thank for
All DOE labs have been instructed to stop all diversity training.
These people are such babies (no offense intended to babies)
Orange is still a bad color.
