I can’t get enough of this song lately.
After a dramatic finale in Anaheim, the boys need to win this four-gamer in Seattle to make sure there’s more baseball to be played this season in Oakland.
Pitching Probables:
Manaea vs. Felix
Fiers vs. Sheffield
Anderson vs. Gonzales
Roark vs. Dunn
I still can’t get over Lou biffing in the shower to end his season.
Given that they activated Piscotty and thus lost that potential post-deadline roster replacement slot, it would behoove the A’s to put someone on the IL who they didn’t plan on being on the active postseason roster anyway.
Felix has been good at home. That, along with last game vibes and one more chance to FK the A’s, is going to make this game tough.
Hm, maybe not that tough. Baseball is cruel and unsentimental.
Head’s up Chappy!
Mariners also have their heads up something.
Ooh, speaking of which, Angel Hernandez is behind the plate.
Wow. Ray trolling Glen about Angel just scared the hell out me.
Yeah, that was surprisingly good deadpan from Ray.
It worked so well because he says so much stupid shit all the time that it was truly believable. Very well played.
Truth. I almost fell off the couch as he was saying it. He totally got me.
Same. I picked up on in fairly quickly but I had a moment where I genuinely wondered.
What did he say?
That Angel is one of the best ball and strike callers in MLB.
lol
Ray just gratuitously got Angel again. Amazing.
7-0 SOX heading to the seventh.
I wish they had stats for the home plate umpire. Pitcher’s ERA, Average, home runs, the whole shebang.
Once upon a time, 30 pitches and 1 run against Felix in the first inning would have felt like a major victory.
Not quite sure why Pinder is DHing and certain other players are playing the field.
Lana Del Rey does something other than Sublime covers? Huh.
The Felix celebration is great but they need the Tigers in there tonight, not somebody good.
Chappy warming up.
Though still none of this with RISP.
The headline on Slusser’s game story this morning was “Chapman Vows This Will Be His Worst Year” which was a pretty funny way for some copy editor to phrase that.
fewer people than i imagined
Cleveland fans have to be sick over this performance.
There’s the arm.
Is that pornography?
2
Still 3 vs. the Rays which is the one I’m watching.
I have been thinking about this in the car, never around paper or a computer, does that include the tiebreaker?
Yes, 3 gets the A’s and Rays to a tie, which the A’s win.
2 if we tonight thought, yes?
Never stop bunting at Chapman dummies.
way to do the right thing seth, but why was he left in after that?
Seth is now 0 for his last 13 with 7 K. Who saw that coming?
0/18 with 10 K, probably one more AB.
So do you leave him off of the PS roster? Do you put Piscotty on in his place?
I can’t see putting Piscotty on the playoff roster. For the WC, I would think they would go with 13 hitters, which would include Brown. For later rounds, if they only go with 12 they could leave both off (Olson, Profar, Neuse, Semien, Chapman, Davis, Grossman, Canha, Laureano, Pinder, Phegley, Murphy).
I’m very skeptical about Neuse, he looks like he can’t ever recognize a slider until he’s already flailing at it.
I’m not impressed with his hitting either, but his defense has been surprisingly solid. Would you go with Profar and Pinder as the only 2B options?
When Canha went down in Anaheim I started to contemplate Barreto again, for his versatility. I could still see it.
OK fine, he can have that, let’s score 5 runs next inning.
I want the A’s to win obviously but what a sweet final out for Felix (rather than exiting on a 3-run double).
I have no idea why he wasn’t pulled after brown, that was dumb
Servais wanted to, and will, choreograph the exit, letting him warm up next inning and then coming out to pull him. Similar to what they did in Tokyo with Ichiro.
He also saw that Grossman was up so eh, free out.
It worked out OK but having seen a few of these over the decades I would not have let him face Grossman.
I would probably go to Luzardo next inning.
not funny guys
Um, guys, don’t forget that it would be a good idea to win tonight.
I do miss seattle
How many winters did you spend there?
4 or 5
AS I sit here I don’t remember when I moved. 96-2001?
Tahoe gets snow, sometimes a whole lot, which will be increasingly difficult to handle as I get older. But when it’s not snowing it’s usually sunny, and not that cold (ask sslinger or Englishmajor about cold). Not gray for 7 months straight. So that debate is physical issues vs. mental issues for me.
I suppose it was super fun for me, I never had the years slog. Summer is stunning.
I don’t think raising kids there would be as good as California. and until recently it was fair with public transit but not what I would call great. I think its better now, but it seemed slower than it should be when we were there last summer
God, fuck the fucking Mariners.
please give us a few of those shitty calls angel
dammit. we were on our way to an immaculate inning
Guaranteed at least a Game 163.
Feeling much better than I was last night before the Chapman homer.
Goals for next three days:
1. Clinch #1 wild card.
2. Remember how to score more than 3 runs.
3. GO BEARS!!
the theoretical 4th run
still theoretical
I’m down with all three of those, but this Berkeley resident is NOT a fan of Friday night home games.
I don’t think anyone is.
Interesting.
Small sample size or his injury impacted his accuracy?
When I couldn’t get to the site today, I was worried that the domain registration had expired, or maybe we had been sabotaged by an angry Cleveland fan. But looks like it may have just been a hiccup. Krisis averted.
I had that same worry, since the failed loading message was different. Hopefully we’re all good for awhile. I’m planning on having A’s baseball matters to discuss daily for awhile
I had that thought too. I was wondering if texting nm tofix it would be rude since I never engage with him in anyway whatsoever.
But now that I type that I do have something to say to him
So go say it and ask him if he needs anything from us to keep his legacy ship afloat…
I had thought it was a sign that we needed to sacrifice FK for the ability to win a do or die game.
If anything ever goes completely wrong here let’s all agree to meet in 1 year at the top of the Tribune Tower.
I figure we can always just all log into twitter as @freekraut and tweet at each other.
I almost did
Tampa loss + Cleveland win best outcome tonight, no?
yes
only if it includes a Oakland win.
Veil of ignorance on the game we really care about.
Well, if we lose, having the Clevelands lose too is the best way to ensure our playoff hopes. If the above scenario plays out and we lose, we’re in a tighter spot to wild card. Tampa lose either way, Clevelands need to match us.
+ A’s win. Otherwise we’d be clinchless for another night.
Howie Kendrick is somehow OPS’ing .972 this year. A career best by like 150 points.
I was a little startled when I saw him. I thought he had retired a couple of years ago.
His glove seems to have retired.
Two on the board for the Nats, whose dark blue jerseys confuse me.
They can see which way the political tide is turning.
Confusing is the blue vs. blue action in Toronto.
Yes, I’m watching that from up in Nova Scotia and I don’t know how they allow the dual dark blues. Yeah, they’re different but still silly. The one baseball fan we’ve found up here is happy to pull for the A’s as Canha has really helped out his fantasy team.
Someone cares about his fantasy team!
Ik, r?
Plus, it has weirdly felt like the Jays announcers have been pulling for the Rays all night.
In the unlikely event the A’s were to play the Rays in the WC game, this guy Glasnow could be a formidable opponent.
I’m expecting to see Morton followed by a couple of innings of Glasnow. Just gotta hope to keep the game even until it’s Emilio Pagan time.
I just hope they’re saving him for Games 1/5. Might depend on the score. That guy looks pretty unhittable.
Looking like the A’s and Rays will both be clinching in about an hour.
I like that Kurt Suzuki just scored the likely final-nail-in-coffin run against the Spiders.
And special thanks to the Jays for crapping the bed against Tampa all year while playing lights out vs the mirror universe early season A’s.
Not over yet!
If the Jays win that game I’m watching the A’s live and DVRing the Bears; if Tampa Bay holds on the A’s can’t clinch anything further tonight so I’ll watch Cal live.
Ryan Dull says watch the Bears.
Our sturdy Golden Bear is watching from the skies…
00000000
Well, Cleveland, I hope the Browns and Cavs don’t totally suck this year.
The pregame just showed a short clip of the 2014 clinch celebration with Nick Punto getting champagned.
Was that the year that the wild card game was canceled?
I am pretty sure 2013. I dont remember a playoff team in 14
Congrats to the A’s. Now please win the WC game.
There’s still hope for some Monday baseball if the Brewers could catch the Cardinals, except that the Cardinals’ opponent this weekend is a corpse.
Score one for the undead.
Canha looked fine running out his check swing grounder.
Yes, let’s get all the issues with RISP out now.
the 4th run is not coming today
Fiers might just be trying to kill Phegley tonight.
the mariners continue their “rather be lucky than good” season
At this point we should just have every player just steal 3rd and home since we cant get a hit once theure in scoring position.
endorsed
Fiers is painful to watch when he’s not on. So many pitches, so much time in between pitches. Maybe Bassitt is an option today.
Yeah he’s lucky the M’s are so hapless, definitely getting by without much tonight. Also, his “my fingers are cold” fidgeting is uncomfortably similar to his “hand numbness” look in Houston two starts back.
OK, 3rd time through the order. Runs please.
The TV guys are randomly babbling in a way more like a blowout than an important close game. I don’t like it.
Boring game made even more boring by 10 minutes of blather about the Mike Minor 200 Ks “controversy.”
I hadn’t seen FSU’s comment yet.
Important close game, yes, but also on close to a 4-hour pace despite being low-scoring. Zzzzzzzz.
Theory: the TV guys are giddy about the clinch because it means they’ll get an extra paycheck.
lollllllll
Looks like a pretty good battle between the A’s and the Bears for suckiest offensive performance of the night. Cal will have to figure it out with the backup QB in the second half.
They should let this FG kicker do the punting. The punting is even worse than the Modster-led passing game. Bears might pull this out!
Nobody was going to outsuck Cal’s offense tonight.
well…
No Justus, no peace.
I guess Bob doesn’t want to let Grossman hit for Pinder for fear of leaving Profar as the only 2B option later.
No, scratch that, Barreto of course. Maybe Bob just thinks Grossman sucks.
I think it’s getting close to midnight for SB&HBoR
9 LOB so far tonight. 9 last night. 12 on Weds.
Still in the sixth inning?!?
Olsen has not had quite that stone cold deadly approach in teh zone the last week.
Problem solved!
youre welcome. I just started listening again
Still wasnt a hit with RISP.
Canha has not had quite that stone cold deadly approach in teh zone the last week.
Almost worked. You said it too early
there is jake
If I was an opposing manager, I would impose a 100k fine and a cap of shame on any hitter who swung at any pitch by Diekman in any count.
Sometimes I wonder how baseball players (especially position players) manage to get injured so often, and other times I wonder how Laureano is still alive.
I don’t know what it is about Hendriks that he can appear so dominant but still blow so many fucking games.
3 days in a row. It was balfor hubris
Damnit. Yay.
This better be a wake up call that you cant just leave a dozen runnrrs on nightly and expect to pull out just enough to win.
So, if the A’s and the Rays do same thing over the weekend, it’s a game in the Coliseum to see where the Wild Card game is played, right?
I’d be up for consecutive tailgates. But no, when both tied teams have clinched playoff spots they don’t play off just for seeding. Tie break goes to A’s on season series result.
There’s no playoff to determine first and second wild card; the first tiebreaker is the regular season head-to-head which the A’s won. So the WC game is in Oakland unless the Rays win at least one more game than the A’s.
Division winner vs. being a wild card, there is a playoff to determine those, and that’s still in play between St. Louis and Milwaukee.
Thanks for clarifying. I thought so, but then I misread something while watching the game. Too early to watch Hendriks bounce pitches *and* think
EC I believe it goes to head to head so as long as we are tied, we win.
2
A part of me kinda wishes they would just rest everyone the next two days instead. This team is so banged up and there are like 3 or 4 important guys who are just a tweak away from being out until next year. They’ve looked exhausted for about two, three weeks now, and I’m not sure now if locale of where the WC game is played will help them beat the Rays more than getting 4 full days of rest.
Two days of rest should be enough to recharge the batteries. Avoiding a cross-country trip to play on turf in that joke of a ballpark is worth it.
Celebration notes:
Hendriks may be the only Aussie alive who doesn’t drink.
Fiers said butt crack.
Sean Manaea is cut!
All of the instigators are pitchers, the wild men of the clubhouse.
Ray and Dallas are part of the fun but nobody wants to pour champagne on Kuiper.
I don’t really expect Everton to hold on through the second half, but a 7 point lead after 7 games was not what I was expecting.
7 point lead on what? Not having any points?
Over Manchester City (and of course it’s actually a 5-point lead now, Everton having Evertoned)
Ah, Liverpool’s lead
That wasn’t immediately obvious!?
1!!111!1!111!11
Win tonight, and let tomorrow be a day full of Piscottys and Barretos and Bolts.
And Roarks and Blackburns. I can’t imagine any pitcher “needs the work to stay sharp” at this point of the year, but maybe there’s somebody. The bullpen will get run into the ground anyway if they get past Wednesday.
Bassitt needs an inning today or tomorrow, probably Luzardo too.
Probably add Puk for an inning just to keep sharp on the bullpen thing.
Looking back at scheduling the last couple years and since we know all the teams, my speculation on ALDS game times in Oakland. Being the only West Coast game and having the Yankees in the other game makes it simple.
Monday:
4 games:
1 and 4 ET: NL Game 4’s at NL Central winner (STL/MIL) and WC winner (WSH/MIL/STL)
7 ET: NYY at MIN
10 ET: HOU at OAK
3 or 2 games:
1 ET: A remaining NL Game 4
4:30 ET: HOU at OAK
8 ET: NYY at MIN
Tuesday:
4:30 ET: HOU at OAK (8 ET if NYY-MIN ends in sweep)
8 ET: NYY at MIN
As to ALDS Game 1 on Friday, the last three years there has been a Game 1 at TEX or HOU, with the Yankees or Red Sox in the other ALDS, and TEX/HOU has been the earliest game every time, with a 1 ET or 2 ET start.
MLB lists games 1 and 3 of both ALDSes as being on MLB Network/FS1, with games 2, 4, and 5 as just FS1. I’m not sure how to read that, but I hope it means a simulcast for games 1 and 3 rather than a possible MLB Network exclusive.
Official times and channels announced for the first two games of the division series. Game One in Houston is at 11:05 am pacific on Friday. Game Two is at 6:07 pm pacific. Both games on FS1.
Bizarrely, Game One of Twins/Yankees is listed as being on MLB Network.
MLB Network gets one game from each Division Series that belongs to Fox, the AL this year, on the days with up to 4 games scheduled. If Yankees Game 1 is on MLB that should mean Astros Game 3 on Monday is the MLB Network game in that series. There aren’t any simulcasts. It allows for some overlapping of games and can prevent the first few innings of a later game from being exiled to Fox Business Channel or someplace like that if the first game is long.
Canha is just happy it’s balaclava season again.
#14 in the scorebook, #1 in our hearts.
Mark ellis? is he in the house?
Indeed, with wife and several kids.
Brooks is a teenager
on the drive home from foster city, there was an emergency warning cut in on the radio saying there may be a tornado in sonoma county
Crazy winds at Dillon Beach yesterday – the friend’s 50th birthday beach oyster shuck was a blow out.
tornado in woodland today.
Sign Olson to a 15 year contract.
It’s nice how he’s locked up the next 3-4 gold gloves already.
Thanks, and go As.
soaker question:
My boss is a twins fan, he was wondering if a suspended player who’s suspension goes over 2 seasons, is he out for only 1 post season or 2?
Short of a lifetime suspension, a suspension would only affect one postseason.
Maybe the defense is good enough to bail out the constipated offense…but that’s what I was hoping for in the Cal game last night.
Considering that Hendriks is or should be unavailable I wouldn’t have minded going deeper than 5 IP/73 pitches with Brett.
Diekman coming in for the 4th time in 5 days. What could possibly go wrong?
Going to trust a 1-run lead to Diekman now. tick tick tick
Canha stealing his way into “scoring position” was quite the display of optimism.
hader just gave up a hr to tie the game against rockies
And Story wins it with a HR to lead off the bottom of the 10th. Damn.
this is ridiculous
I still see no reason to not try the steal 3rd and home plan.
A month more of this bullpen? Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
We survived 1/3 inning of Diekman!
just practicing for the 3 batter minimum
Oh ffs
Thanks for the Billy Strings rec, that was a fun show.
Oh that’s great, I’m glad you went. His new album is now out, played it straight through the other night in PDX.
There’s really no way to not be concerned about the offense heading into Wednesday right?
They’re saving it all for Wednesday. That’s the only thing I can tell myself right now.
Here’s the glass half full version. It isnt like they arent hitting. Its just the timing. Id feel worse if they were getting 2 baserunners a night.
But yeah if this isn’t fixed Wed is going to be very frustrating.
The last week has been worrying, but I’m counting on the larger sample size of the full season being more meaningful. It’s not like these guys all just forgot how to hit. I do think they’re a bit worn down, and hope that the 2 or 3 days off will help.
guys are getting on and a fair percentage of outs are hard hit (hardly hit?)
Charlie Morton held the June A’s to 6 hits, 4 walks and 1 run while striking out 13 over 2 games and 13.1 innings. Not promising.
We’re due.
14 IP, 13H 8R 6ER 1HR 8BB 12K last year when his overall stats were about the same as this year.
Khris (25 career PAs): .143/.280/.429
Semien (16): .357/.438/.500
Olson (15): .333/.467/.667
Chapman (17): .200/.294/.333
Profar(14): .364/.500/.727
No one else with 10
have we already made the s’all good joke?
Brown hitting for Grossman is a little weird.
Ken and Vince have mentioned that Grossman is among the walking wounded (shoulder).
The expected result, though.
brown for defense?
I like murphy better, hut this is getting worrisome
Jesús saves!
Playoffs in Oakland!
Mmmkay, we’ll try it this way.
I’m not coming down for the WC game but I’ll be there if it goes to ALDS Games 3 and 4.
Totally worth staying up late for!
3-2-1
Shutout coming tomorrow
See you at the Coliseum Wednesday! I’m thinking A Lot by noon.
MLB shows this as a 5:09 start. I probably won’t be able to do the all afternoon tailgate, but will try to make it early enough to stop by.
A brief history of the AL wild card game, with the winning team in bold.
* 2012: Baltimore @ Texas
* 2013: Tampa Bay @ Cleveland
* 2014: The game was cancelled
* 2015: Houston @ New York
* 2016: Baltimore @ Toronto
* 2017: Minnesota @ New York
* 2018: Oakland @ New York
Mt Davis: $25
3rd Deck in the bowl: $50
LOL.
Thanks, and go As.
$25 ticket plus $10 in fees. lol fucking racket.
Thanks, and go As.
I go to about 4 different MLB stadiums every year and the A’s prices are as low as they get anywhere. In recent years the Marlins, Royals and Pirates were probably the teams that competed on price with the A’s. It’s definitely something I notice in the travel budget.
I think MLB rather than the local team sets prices for the World Series, and if the A’s get that far you won’t believe how much that costs. I’m glad I checked that off my bucket list in 1988-1990; I wouldn’t consider it now.
Khris is in the lineup but it’s going to be tough to hit .247. 16-for-16 brings him to .246 and 17-for-17 would be .248, so he needs more than 17 at-bats today to get there.
Semien has only missed 22 defensive innings; looks like the final total will be 30 or 31.
I don’t see any particular individual statistical goals to attain. A pinch-hit homer by either Olson or Chapman would break their tie for the team HR leadership and might also give them the team RBI leadership as they both trail Semien by 1.
Semien is still tied with Reggie for the Oakland single-season record for runs scored, and 4 total bases behind Canseco for that Oakland record. (Far behind a bunch of Philadelphia A’s for both franchise records.)
Might as well swing for the fences in his 1 AB.
Current BB Ref WAR leaders (AL):
Trout 8.3
Bregman 8.2
Semien 8.1
Bochy’s final game not starting so well.
1052-1053 as Giants manager coming into today.
He’s thought to be a likely Hall of Fame inductee. Of the 22 HOFers who are there primarily as managers, only 2 had losing records for their careers (Connie Mack .486, Bucky Harris .493). Bochy is .497 including his Padres years.
Let’s say Manaea starts Weds, with an extra day rest. Assuming they advance he could be back for ALDS game 3 at home Mon 10/7. Fiers gets ALDS 1 on Friday (also one extra day rest) and can return for ALDS 5. Or switch them, if thought of Fiers starting twice in Houston gives you pause. Anyway, whoever starts ALDS 2 10/5 and ALDS 4 on 10/8 will be on like 10-14 days rest. I like Bailey or Anderson over Roark in those cases, but that’s a lot of down time.
Roark allowed 12 runs in his first 36+ innings as an Athletic, and I thought he might be our best starter (Manaea was just about to come back, and Fiers had started to struggle). Since then he has allowed 16 runs in 14+ innings, and it’s looking pretty clear to leave him out of the rotation.
It’s still hard to see how Anderson can be successful with such a low K rate in the current offensive environment. Same with Fiers, to a lesser extent. The offense is going to need to wake up in a big way if those guys are matched up against Verlander, Greinke, and Cole.
Third highest GB% in baseball in front of an elite infield defense is how Anderson can be successful. That plus a lot of luck.
Anderson for a known 5 I am comfortable with.
Need up to 135 outs or so, take chunks where you can.
Anderson was pretty good on nine days rest last night. He probably needs the extra time. Bailey, who knows.
I think I would take Bailey over Fiers, but probably won’t happen. I would go Bailey, Anderson (lots of FBs for Fiers, so better to have in start in Oak), Manaea, Fiers, Bailey.
Hit #1 is gonna be a n8ce accomplishment for this lineup.
That worked.
Run #1 will be a nice accomplishment for this lineup.
The reserves picking right up where the starters left off with RISP.
I would rather have Martini going into the playoffs against RH starters than Brown or Grossman. Not sure why he didn’t get a chance this year.
WTF Bob? Petit, really? No Manager of the Year repeat for you!
Not sure what he’s doing this inning.
So it’s going to be 9 of the final 11 games with 3 or fewer runs.
A hit in that final at-bat would have given Brown a .307 batting average. Instead he settles for .293.
97-65 and a wild card berth. I do have higher expectations this year than I did in 2018.
First time repeating the same record since 1984-1985
The Brewers and Rockies are going to the 12th inning in Denver. Come on, an intentional walk, 3 balks and head to the airport.
That’s close to what they did. Leadoff walk, throwing error on a bunt, wild pitch to end it and head to the airport.
We’ve run through various incorrect and irrelevant criminal law theories (no express quid pro quo, hearsay evidence, confrontation clause) and now we’ve already reached the threatening civil war portion of impeachment. This is going to get very weird.
I don’t know what will be weirder or worse (both short term ramification of his followers and long term of the nation). If the Senate acquits him. Or if they remove him.
The former would be worse. The latter might be weirder.
the one i hate the most but would work the best: mitch convinces him to resign on personal and family legal force field of some kind.
I don’t think that’s possible. They could hem and haw and come to some sort of pardoned terms using Pence Federally, but there are still State charges out there that are unavoidable and they’d have no leverage for. But with his ego, there’s also no way I see him resigning.
I would be ok with some form of exile.
Maybe the Brits can lend us Saint Helena.
In the long term, I’d make that guess too. But the not going out quietly part could make it, at least briefly, worse. It depends on truly insane his base actually is and remains. Some of the fallout I’m envisioning may still qualify as weirder than worse though.
Damn Just when I learned how to spell Scioscia

Wouldn’t surprise me if they’d prefer a guy like Maddon.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he’d prefer a roster like the Padres’.
Agreed. I heard someone suggesting the Gnats, but the Padres feel like just his specialty.
If Maddon doesn’t want the Angels job I’d think Eric Chavez would be one of the next on the list.
And as we know Bob Geren will be a hot commodity this offseason, particularly if he bench-coaches the Dodgers all the way to another World Series loss.
No they have to go make more copies of their job placement quizzes.
And…fired.
What ho, gentlemen (are there any other ladies still here?), it’s the FKing drummer checking in after a long absence. I was delighted to almost immediately decode SBaHBoR – that moniker, though not the acronym, had also occurred to me, because he’s the only position player who doesn’t have a beat yet, and I was trying to think if there was anything in the LBaHBoR catalog that we could adapt.
But I think we’ll wait to be sure he’s on the playoff roster.
Hoping to see many of you at the yard in a long postseason run!
Welcome back! I was just hoping that the upcoming playoffs were going to bring back some FKers.
The beat goes on! Batgirl popped up a week or so ago, so you’re not the only FK’er still repping the XX.
Happy birthday Jesus Luzardo (says my A’s pet calendar).
So fucking Burfict.
That guy has been a dangerous, reckless asshole since college, if not earlier. Not sure what the Raiders expected.
Earlier.
He was supposed to go to USC, but then was a FKup in high school and ended up at ASU.
Then he was a 1st round talent, but went undrafted because he was a POS.
He should be out of the league. There is a significant difference between hitting hard blah blah vs legit trying to injure guys.
Thanks, and go As.

“Burfict is to gratuitous head shots as the Raiders are to bad signings.”
Funniest part of this alarming story about the globetrotting activities of the Attorney General of the United States.
As if this is something Barr is just doing on his own that Trump will be pleasantly surprised to learn about.
He’s literally consorting against other nations against his own. It’s at the very border of treason as defined by the Constitution. And the one who would prosecute him is himself. And the GOP has no problem with him doing it so it goes. I don’t know about a Civil War, but if something doesn’t change, the country is done. And the firing shot, so to speak, is going to be how the GOP handles the Impeachment trial that will be coming and how the public response to it both immediately and in 2020. If they acquit and we don’t see not just a majority in the Senate but an overwhelming collapse of their Congressional power, it’s basically pointless to try to keep the nation together.
the country is done.
even if you control for bots, the country is cognitive dissonance personified.
What is there to know about Trump now that wasn’t known in 2016?
not the tweet, the thread.
and not about what’s to know. it’s about how people think about what they know (or think they know).
I’ve been a peaceful secessionist since well before all the 2016 mess occurred. It seemed pretty obvious where we’ve been heading as a nation. Our system is so far beyond broken and manipulated beyond repair. Short of an insane and likely bloody rebellion this isn’t getting fixed. Best to go our separate ways where we can retain more power over how we fix things. I’d be happy to be proven wrong, but I don’t see it happening, at every turn we have too much power and too much stupid pulling us apart.
Few empires expire peacefully.
