Settle in for great third base play, a lot of runs, and a couple of teams that are in the thick of it.

Manaea hit!
Purple jerseys, black caps, and pinstriped pants doesn’t work for me.
One bunt good. Two bunts bad.
I really like it when (other) teams give away outs and chances at big innings early. That could have gotten ugly and it didn’t.
Pretty lousy play by Manaea.
Rest ye weary souls, good relievers.
The bad relievers did OK.
i was happy with them. Pitching did ok. batting did…ok? I mean, unlucky. 13 LOB means 13 Baserunner. (15 I think total, maybe 16?)
unlucky. sure.
Chapman got hosed on strike two during his AB with the bases loaded. The 2-2 should have been a 3-1.
I like how the ushers hold everyone on the concourse until between batters. No constant random movement, rather an occasional quick rush. Also they card everyone for alcohol, no exceptions.
This could get worse if the Rockies figure out how to hit the ball to Khris.
I was surprised Arenado didn’t take second on his weak grounder to LF earlier in the game.
Dinger is FKing hideous.
They needed an off day to recover from Texas and didn’t get one.
Not exactly the sort of loss we were expecting though.
Nothing like sitting in an airport watching your departure time be pushed back an hour every 30 minutes.
Walking around downtown on Saturday morning, the insta-reaction is I didn’t know a US city’s downtown could be so clean. It’s almost shocking, like I stumbled into Palo Alto by mistake. Libby and London could take a few pointers. Even the somewhat seedier bar district over by Coors Field looks fairly respectable in daylight.
No A’s sightings yet even with a lot of ambling downtown and on the walkways along the South Platte and Cherry Creek. There were even a couple passes by the outdoor seating at Cheesecake Factory, where I wouldn’t expect to see Canha but what says Vince, Glen and Ray like Cheesecake Factory. I don’t know where they are staying but there’s a Ritz-Carlton a couple blocks away and that’s a fairly common MLB brand.
OK – standing for 4 hours and counting in an unmoving line trying to get a new reservation after Munich airport was shut down for 5 hours this morning is worse.
… and I’m coming home via Mexico City.
I’ll not complain about DEN-RNO, although my Southwest seat strategy failed. 350 lb. in the aisle seat with the other two empty, so I took the window, figuring if there was one empty seat that middle would be it. Well, there were no empty seats and the last boarder was 280 lb. So I’m narrower but taller than I was a few hours ago.
HOWEVER, I did get one of the last bags of Southwest peanuts. The final day is supposed to be tomorrow. I think I’ll set it on the TV stand next to my bobbleheads. There should be a pack of bubble gum cigarettes there too but I didn’t think to keep one of those.
On my Munich to Mexico City flight there were enough empty seats for people to move into better spaces. I ended up on an aisle of a 4-seat row with the other aisle taken but the 2 middle seats empty. Two seats each I think, but as soon as we take off the guy on the other aisle pulls up both armrests and stretches himself out over all 3 seats for the duration.
So you “spilled” your coffee on him, right?
No, but the guy in front of me waited till the drink service had gone through before slamming his seat back, catapulting my beer from the tray table into my lap.
I try not to hate many people, but airline seat recliners really test me.
On Southwest, anything over 90 minutes I pay the $15 for Lexus Lane boarding specifically to avoid Mr. 280’s predicament. He definitely had it worse than I did.
There are a couple of “Colorado Craft Beer” carts on the lower concourse where you can get a 12 oz. can of Avery IPA, Upslope IPA and a couple others for $8. Even there they make sure you have an opportunity to buy a 16 oz. Blue Moon or Colorado Native (Coors Amber) for a dollar more. Coors paid a lot of money for the sponsorship rights and we’ll have none of that craft beer nonsense here.
IT’S NOT RAINING DAMMIT
It’s a clouds delay. The dark stuff seems to be sliding behind right field. At least give me lightning or a funnel cloud, sheesh.
And welcome back to barely damp Coors Field. It rained a little for 5 minutes but they didn’t even put the mini-tarps on the mound and plate. They did get to sell an extra 50 minutes worth of Coors.
Great throw, wrong call.
My order of preference:
1. DH in both leagues
2. Disband the national league.
3. Status quo.
Pat Valaika, huh, Brett?
Please let them realize this isnt a Coors thing, but that it’s a Brett isn’t good thing.
How does our offense go cold in this park though?
Coors: We’re Sucking In It
They’ve played a ton of road games the last month, 4 in 100 degree heat in Texas and I sense a wall being hit. Tails are dragging.
The altitude probably doesn’t help.
The good news is 17 of the next 20 are at home, and the other three are in Anaheim. They’ve played great on the road, but staying in one place for a while should be salutary.
LOL Semien. That kinda sums it up.
At least Seattle and Houston are matching loss-for-loss.
Two months ago I would not have been surprised at two losses by scoring 2 runs in colorado
I’ve been out and about a lot yesterday and this morning and never did run into any A’s. They must be staying in one of these hotels within a few blocks. Maybe everyone except Canha stays in the hotel and orders room service.
This weather, hmmm. In the Bay Area you’d say “that’s just the marine layer” and that’s exactly what it looks like. Rain is *supposed to* hold off until later this afternoon. Per SOP I’m sticking around tonight so if it did turn into a festival of rain delays I could handle it. Getting conked by the hail does sound unpleasant.
And I’m all light rail, bus and walking on this trip, no rental car, so don’t blame me.
It does not appear that Faith Day Presented By Chick-fil-A will draw as well as Star Wars Night. The sky has mostly cleared for now.
After not making a significant throw the first two nights I bet Khris has to make six today. He’s already given up two bases.
This series is a great warmup for the facepalming aggravation of Cal football.
Costas is awful.
Sean Newcomb has a no-hitter (1 walk) through 8 for the Braves but is at 117 pitches.
So close.
And then milkshake ducked.
Ugh, Piscotty missed a fat hanger there.
And the Rockies apparently have gold glovers at 8 different positions.
They’re a pretty impressive team.
We appear to be good as far as weather for a few more innings, which I will gladly take.
They need an off day. Badly.
It wasn’t like the Rockies pitching was unhittable. The club was just out of gas when they got here.
I don’t know about today, but they had lots of baserunners in games one and two. Didn’t give up a ton of runs. Just an unlucky series.
That was my thought. As much as I want to start worrying or throwing in the towel, just aligning a couple of hits in diferent spots probably makes that a different series. Though you could say the same thing in TX I guess.
They’ve been on the road and with all the weather. Let’s hope they find their own beds (or the beds they end up in when in N CA) comfortable.
This is interesting.
1) I don’t understand exactly what it means.
2) Does FSU get royalties?
I think it means that you can buy season ticket packages sort of like normal, but now for the games you don’t buy seats for you can still get in general admission. And you get more food discounts and stuff.
I’m trusting that existing season ticket holders will be able to keep their longstanding seats.
From https://www.mlb.com/athletics/tickets/season-tickets/access
Interesting.
Presumably that’s reselling through monitored channels … I can’t see how they’d deal with a situation like ours.
I did notice last night that simply holding the ticket isn’t enough to get through the season ticket entrance, and they now want to see the pass too. We got though by pointing out that the seats we had are only available in a full season plan.
Yeah, same with the merchandise discount.
Also this
Maybe I should talk with Alice about becoming a share partner.
Indeed you should. Whatever that means.
I tried asking using the A’s online chat, but the guy wouldn’t answer the question but just kept asking for my phone number and email address “in case we get cut off”.
he did an AMA on reddit in the A’s section today. It seems too good to be true.
Thanks, and go As.
I agree. Crazy that the $240 is for 24 view level games + SRO to all the rest. Could really change attendance, especially if they sell a bunch of these to folks like me wanting to make sure I can get playoff tix should all things break right this season.
Playoffs looking more likely with the deadline additions!
Oh, wait.
Thanks, and go As.
But we got [linked to] FIERS!
As a high schooler in the mid-90’s I got into The Prodigy, including this song but I had no idea what they were sampling from. Ten or so years later, as a college radio dj I developed a totally understandable crush on Lizzy Mercier Descloux, also without realizing that this song was a cover. Finally a few years ago I heard the original Arthur Brown track and my mind was blown.
you give me tumor.
that entire record
We didn’t sign the Fiers
No we didn’t chime in but we tried to sign ‘im.
I facepalmed multiple times reading this M&R dispatch.
on the second thing, yeah, i believe it. I also believe that it will make no difference in anyone’s behavior.
It is a sad illustration of Oakland’s fractionalized politics that a stupid astroturf group flyer would even get a mention.
Seems more the national media normal to seek out any opposing opinion however tenuous.
Snack review: “Extra Toasty” Cheez-Its are awesome
I second that motion. Probably my favorite snack cracker. I will not buy them for casa de Aces because I will eat the whole box in a sitting if they are in front of me.
They’re kind of hard to find though. I got the only box at Safeway.
Interesting. In both Fresno and now down in LA they are at least as common as say the other “different” cheez-its are.
My fear is they are going to get smart someday and make them in the Costco box size. If they do I may not be able to resist. I barely resist the normal ones in stead of Goldfish for the kids. (Related note-my poor kids have to suffer with Goldfish because of my lack of self control)
“He did not participate in any meeting about the Russia transaction … the president did not,” Giuliani said.
The Russia what now?
Not even any rumors involving us, eh?
Last second Degrom and Harper deals outta nowhere
Thanks, and go As.
In a reasonable world where the Mets were run by sane people, I’d have to think we could put together a good enough package of prospects to get Degrom, but in that world, the Mets wouldn’t be such a dumpster fire that they’d be in a position to sell off Degrom.
I kinda don’t want to spend what degrom costs. The A’s will be better in 2020, they will be even better relative to the league. Degrom will cost pieces that will make the A’s better in 2020 either by performance or sell off.
With Anderson and Cahill around, Ziggy’s return wouldn’t surprise me a bit.
osuna –> astros
giles–> blue jays
When osuna is back the Astros will be a lot better, yet easier to boo
