Howdy there FKers,
I’ll be tailgating on Saturday from around 2 or 2:30 PM until it’s time to go inside. Not sure how big a tailgate crowd we’ll have, as I’ve not done much “inviting” or “planning” or “baseball watching.” But if you’d care to stop by and hang with La Familia Mejorar for awhile, well, I’d love to see you.
Saturday is Bill King Induction Day, so celebrate. There will be beer and rumours of beer. Bring something you’d like to eat and drink, cooler space and grill space and relevant tools will be available. Usual lot spot.
"Kraut will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no kraut."
BTW I haven’t gotten my tickets yet, will probably hit the box office on arrival. Open to getting tix for reliable others at the same time. No strong feeling on seat locations.
Cool. I’ll let you know ASAP whether I want to be considered to be a “reliable other”
I do. Can I get on your ticket list?
Consider it done.
We’re a reliable 3 + keg + growler.
Excellwnt. For voth you and nm, thoughts on seatung? Looks like tix could be had in plaza or plaxa OF for $33-43 each, or more affordably up in the View Level. All I require is no overhang re fireworks viewing.
I’d happily go cheaper … value deck?
Value deck isn’t as good a deal when you’re already full of food and beer from the tailgate.
I actually like the view from up there, and when you’ve got kids who will want sugar there’s still value to be had in the store credit.
I’ll happily relinquish my ticket credit for that cause.
Is all of the 300 level “Value Deck” with the concession credit? Or is that just 316 – 318?
I bought a $15 upper deck ticket the other day, section 315. No voucher.
i think they close the value deck during the actual fireworks?
Huh, I wonder why that would be. Bleachers and foul pole areas are closed for fear of sparks and debris I think.
maybe that’s it.
You call it. I’m just one ticket, so wherever you guys decide is fine. If we can be close to someone who already has tix, all the better.
I may be 4 now – I should know in the morning.
That’s fine, just send word by noon tomorrow.
OMG I happen to have the front row seats! I’m not sure what time I can arrive, but if I get there early enough I will come by. Will you update where you’ve set up once you get there?
We’ll be there, not sure what we’ll bring. Thanks for letting us know the time, and as usual for bringing the equipment.
I’ll also be tailgating nearby in the front of Lot A. Stop by if you would like. I’ll be making my famous tailgate ribs and there will be other munchies as well. I’ll make an effort to head FSU’s way to say wassup to you FKers.
i am unable to make it. lots of action that day for me
same.
boooo.
Sadly I already have plans to go to the Quakes game, my last game as a fan before I start working for them on gamedays.
Thanks, and go As.
You slotting into the midfield?
Thinking more of a second striker role. The midfield actually has some depth now even with the switch to a 3-5-2.
Thanks, and go As.
Oh. I was thinking you got hired to be a cross bar. But that’s cool too.
Cool! What are you doing for them?
Working on VAR. Kinda coordinating all of it.
Thanks, and go As.
From my view way (way way way) far away the Quakes seem like a well run org. Good for you man.
They were a fucking tire fire for a lot of years.
Wolffisher have owned the team since they came back as an expansion team in 2008. In typical fashion they were low spenders and had a couple good seasons, but they had an idiot GM for a lot of years — fun fact, the year after he was fired my son’s team played against the team he coached. Yes, he went from running an MLS team to coaching an Under 11 kids team — but things really started to change when (wait for it) they brought in Dave Kaval. He really did a hell of a job heading up the new stadium being built and marketing etc etc. They still have a ways to go, but they also brought in a new GM from Roma in Italy who is doing a fantastic job bringing in more players.
They’re slowly getting better.
Hopefully Kaval keeps working his magic with the A’s, too.
Thanks, and go As.
Video assisted replay?
Yessir.
Thanks, and go As.
Very cool. Congrats.
fun! way to go.
How soon before you can follow Kaval and start overturning any call that goes the A’s way?
Your services are needed in Germany.
The Ford C. Frick Award Presentation will begin at 1:30, and I believe it will be shown on the A’s Facebook Page. It may be on 95.7 as well. Hopefully we’ll be able to catch part of it during the tailgate, and then they will be showing highlights on the big screen before the game.
It would probably be on the A’s Facebook page as well, but I heard Ken specifically mention the live stream on the HOF page:

P.S. I do expect to come to the Bay Area for the A’s once more this season but it won’t be this weekend.
It’s supposed to go live shortly.

That’s most likely the only time Robert Buan will ever be mentioned in a Hall of Fame induction speech.
I’m sorry I won’t be there – too much around my neck at the moment.
albatross?
What flavor is it?
it’s a bloody sea bird…
Do you get wafers with it?
They’re wafer-thin.
Horse collar. I’m not sure I’m physically ready to hang out in the parking lot all afternoon, then sit in a stadium seat for 3+ hours.
Will most likely be there and want in on the group tix, but still not sure if 1 or 2.
I’ll get the $15 View Level tix (not Value Deck) for all the ticket-wanting RSVPs I have by noon tomorrow. Thus far that’s ptbnl-n-friends, nevermoor, and likely andeux (# TBD). Lemme know if anyone else wants in.
Many thanks.
Deux.
Bien!
All set up in the vicinity of the A8 pole. White canopy.
Thanks FKers for all the organizing, delicious food and beer, fine company, and Rajai reverse cursing.
We rock.
Sorry I missed ya’ll. I was at an all day shelter social media seminar at the SF SPCA and didn’t make it to the coliseum until after 6pm.
I thought the Harry Potter stuff was really fun. The snitch was…interesting.
All round awesome, thanks everyone.
I’m not entirely sold on the session pale ale – it’s really tough to keep it balanced while reducing the alcohol content. I mashed warm to produce more unfermentable sugars to try to keep some body, and reduced the boil and increased the dry hops to shift the hop flavours from bitterness to aroma, but it still wasn’t quite right to me. Honest feedback much appreciated.
Thanks. I had a great time, particularly for my first time sitting at the top of the upper deck.
