And that assumes this gets resolved before 2019.

I wonder how many people will be going to games in 10-15 years. TV’s by then, or whatever we watch stuff on at that point, are likely to be so great that watching games at home is just going to be a better experience.

Yeah, but in order to get any sort of mixed drink, you’re better off going to a bar. That and you get a wider variety of drinks there. Not a very apt comparison for the most part. At home you’ll be able to get pretty much any game on demand without having had to go to the store to get supplies. That being said, I could see attendances fall sharply to the point of smaller stadiums being reasonable.

Granted I don’t read the quotes on every A’s signing, but wouldn’t this article (along with the fact that the move sucks) lead to the conclusion that this was a Forst move?
When you look at how FA signings Plouffe, Joyce, Rajai, Casilla, and Rosales have performed this year, it becomes a lot less justifiable to miss out on someone like Luis Robert on account of needing that money elsewhere.

He should lose a few points just for his arm.
I quoted fangraphs WAR, which uses UZR as the fielding component, and UZR does include an ARM component that tries to determine the value of outfield assists, preventing runners from going 1st to 3rd, etc. According to UZR, Davis’ arm has cost 4.1 runs so far this season.
The second worst ARM score for outfielders is AJ Pollack at -2.9. Third worst? Matt Joyce at -2.6. Also impressive is Mark Canha, who’s arm has cost 1.4 runs despite the fact that he has less than one-third as many outfield innings as Davis.
It’s the Coco Crisp memorial outfield.
It would seem that the A’s don’t put much value on defense with the glove or the arm. Davis has one of the worst arms I’ve ever seen. I hadn’t noticed Joyce’s arm as much.
This looks like the case where Melvin wanted to give Cotton a chance to get the win, and wound up giving him a chance to get the loss instead.

There are plenty of games where an ump has a wide zone, or is calling strikes slightly low. But those strikes up at neck level are another thing entirely.
