Mulder wants to stick to, you know, baseball stuff. He’s not a chatterbox. It seems like Glen thinks he has to fill in Ray’s babble about Star Wars Night or the Wave or seagulls. You can almost hear Mulder rolling his eyes.
I got a cheap laugh out of the crowd in 216 by yelling at them to try turning it off and then turning it on again. But I figured it was a cable issue, the way it cut out and in and out again sounded like someone jiggling all the connections to find the bad one.
His major league stats aren’t that good, in particular the .247 OBP coming into today. That’s a combination of not walking, and a really bad .243 BABIP. The latter is weird, since he seems to make good contact. Overall, I’m bullish – he has power, and doesn’t K a ton, so more hits should follow. And his defense has been fine at 3B, better than Valencia at least.
In spite of that first call on the exchange, I have been pretty impressed with the way the MLB replay system has worked out, after they got rid of some of the bugginess early on. I didn’t like the notion of every play being subject to challenge but it hasn’t caused the delays I expected and I agree with the final decision almost every time. Now I’m about to endure another season of big-time college football’s version, and I wish they would study MLB’s system and how it could improve the implementation in their game, with respect to the delays and that I only agree with the call 2/3 of the time.
I feel like they’re setting up Maxwell to fail. This is only his 6th start since getting called up and half of those starts have been against lefty starters.
They also put Brandon McCarthy on the DL today after yesterday’s short start (hip issue for McCarthy). Looks like Rich Hill is supposed to make a rehab start tomorrow.
Edit/correction: Rich Hill had said he would make a rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday to test his finger blisters, but instead he threw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, so his Dodgers debut remains undetermined.
The person who said that was “unintentional”…was that a relative of the IOC guy who said the story about the swimmer being robbed in Rio was totally false?
“We apologize for the irresponsible music selection during our game last night,” Cubs president of business operations Crane Kenney said in a statement on Monday. “The selection of this track showed a lack of judgment and sensitivity to an important issue. We have terminated our relationship with the employee responsible for making the selection…
The Harrah’s in Stateline seems like a weird place for the Republican presidential nominee to be raising dough. Going for vacationing venture capitalists or something?
Yay we’re winning!
Yay we’re winning again!
Yay
Yay.
yay!
Way more informative than a Buancast.
Wow, Orange County is changing.
BUt there is no way they keep the LAA if they had moved to tustin. that’s like SF playing in sacramento (or maybe santa clara)
ZOMG ARTE LIED HE DIDN’T TRY
can I star or like this comment?
Crisp is a stud. They better not fk him over.
i think they can’t now. unless he breaks, he will vest
He’s been below replacement this year, will be 37, and is owed like 13M or something.
They should be doing everything possible to not vest that option, OR waive him trade him to a contender that thinks he’s good.
Thanks, and go As.
Yay Coco.
In retrospect, Nelson Cruz for Keith Ginter was not a very good trade.
And that discount tent leaked and grew mildew.
Salt in the wound, Ginter was reincarnated as Chris Coghlan.
Ginter 2005: 156 PA, .161/.234/.263
Coghlan 2016: 172 PA, .146/.215/.272
butler has been great, but no vince, he is not in scoring position
now he is
thit
kHRusshed
raiders hop and butler gets to second
butler scores on a sigle from second. Ray feels that the lack of direction from ron washington was a plan to deke the defense
walk ianetta, wild pitch to second sqibber to third.
Better not let theth drive him in
go! go! go! go! go! go!
Valentino Rossi?
Thanks, and go As.

Yay.Well at least they kept the crowd interested until fireworks time.Boo.
unbelievable!
Anyone want the front row seats for today (Sunday)?
Also Monday 8/22 (7.05pm) & Wednesday 8/24 (12.35pm) against Cleveland are both available.
What can’t this team FK up?
I can confirm that the cabling situation at the Mausoleum is a FKing nightmare.
Thanks, and go As.

The Neal-Detwiler-Triggs segment of the rotation was decent the first time through. Somehow that failed to bolster my confidence.
Although Wade LeBlanc would fit right in with that group.
7 starts 1 decision?
what’s up with ryon healy? I know he was sent to AA to start the year, but he vaulted over a few people. is it sustainable?

Can Tyler Ladendorf just go away?
Boy did he get a break on that.
Replay giveth outs and replay taketh outs away.
He may be hitting .068 but at least he’s also botched two double plays today.
Still better than the days of Grant Green. (Though not by much)

i would like a few things expanded. like rule interpretation and plays in front of the ump and foul tips.
it is way better than the first year, though.
Baseball’s type of plays are significantly different than those of football. Football has so many moving parts going and a lot more subjectivity.
ffs

was thinking that
smart move. we just need the outs
AJ Puk, 3.2 IP today, 1 H 2 BB 8 Ks, was pulled after hitting his 70 pitches limit
That must have been a lot of foul balls and full counts.
I sure wish he weren’t such a defensive liability.
nice shut down inning
how did kansas city think eibner was worse than burns?
Speed kills
It also doesn’t slump.
You can’t teach it, either.
Brett Anderson made his 2016 debut. His ERA is 45.

$15.8M. That’s gotta be up there in dollars-per-inning-thrown conversation.
rats
Looking good, Jairo. Looking REAAALLLL good.
giants fans are out for blood.
its not his fault he is 35 years old
omg
!!!
The person who said that was “unintentional”…was that a relative of the IOC guy who said the story about the swimmer being robbed in Rio was totally false?
I’m just relieved that Chapman is “smiling more easily in conversations.” I’d hate to think he was feeling bad about himself.
Wow – not only is that song so offensive that I can’t conceive of a single context in which playing it would be acceptable, but it’s also boring.
The Prodigy was one of the more incomprehensible British cultural phenomena of the 1990s. Right up there with Robbie Williams and the Spice Girls.
As i recall robbie williams was terrible at music, but he was a great interview.
Ooh, it’s right down the street! Can I have $5000?
The bleacher tickets for the Reid/Obama thing with The Killers a few days later were $27.50. I handled that myself without a “can I have…”
The Harrah’s in Stateline seems like a weird place for the Republican presidential nominee to be raising dough. Going for vacationing venture capitalists or something?
Shockingly, there’s something fishy going on here.
I like that the report includes not one but two (sic)s in their short excerpts from a letter that’s only nine sentences long. And I found another.
