Fiers v Graveman, Kuechel v Overton, Fister v Megden
I am off this week, but not going to any games because I am super lame.
Today is Crisp in center garden, lowrie occupies the grass and dirt midway between first and second, Reddick soaks in his last monday in oakland, valencia is not quite dead but not playing defense, davis will be noodle arming it in left, All star is sixth, Semien is soing his best to get as few at bats as possible, and drew pomeranz is batting ninth like a pitcher should, but he is playing first and is called Yonder.
Don’t forget Ryon.
just realized.
He is ploying in his farth game
Is Healy for really?
Ken, telling me that in the last month graveman is the A’s best pitcher is not soothing
felix dubront did color and pxp on spanish broadcast.
also, felix dubront is still an A.
Domn.
“If he hit that yesterday, it’s a HR” – Ray.
if he hit it from 7 feet in front of the plate its out
Clase ta hitting it aut.
True tale: From front row tonight I told Healy on deck be ready, he was gonna see a hanger. Just missed it.
vince just said “long time A Ryan Langerhans”
just for Mike
noted, acknowledged, and appreciated.
Thanks, and go As.
How is that not interference?
vince seems to be convinced
do the A’s ever get a break on those?
and again, why no review?
The rules need to be changed so that the team that causes the problem (this time, Correa obstructing the play) always gets punished.
The rule doesn’t need to be changed. That was unambiguously interference on the runner.
Except that the umpire is the only non-Astro in the ballpark who didn’t see it that way. Either change the rule (make it explicit – any kind of obstruction, contact or no), or get better umps. Or both.
wasn’t dan otero called for obstruction 3 feet from the runner?
are they saying the fielder has to intentionally make contact and hope its called? or the fielder has to make all effort to get out of the way?
It is interference if the runner hinders the fielder trying to make a play on the ball.
Does not require contact. Does not require intent.
CB Bucknor may be the worst ump in baseball. He never doesn’t suck.
Vince, for the 1000th time, if you hit a ball OVER the base, its fair.
who ahould I insult tomorrow?
Me, me, me!
Wait- this would bring me good fortune, right?
(and would that be worth FE saying awful things about me?)
I need to crawl in a corner and think about this some more.
for the life of me i can’t think of anything bad to say about you
this is rally i understand
If Friers just launched himself out of Houston, do they become a suitor for Hill?
wouldn’t they be even is friers didn’t assplode?
WTF is Gomez’s problem (besides being, in general, a dick)?
Pretty nasty pitch there by Graveman.
He drew great bad contact tonight. Numerous guys walked away shaking their hands and checking if the bats broke. Good heavy sinker.
The fk is wrong with the Astros?
(…and the A’s…)
I guess Gonzalez’s career 89 OPS+ entitles him to act like a prick on a solo HR while trailing by three runs.
he had some fly bat flips in houston. not just with the walk off
Wasn’t that Valbuena?
you expect me to know?
I’ve been waiting for years for some poor outfielder to go up in flames, always wondered why MLB allows that setup. It would figure if it happened to Reddick a week before the scheduled trade.
huh, it took to the bottom of the 7th for vince to mention jose’s height
There aren’t enough sad trombones in the world to properly soundtrack this.
Needs a slide whistle. Over the cliff!!!
Yakkity sax?
Meg Whitman.
Have we noticed that Fangraphs has Semien as basically a league average defensive shortstop this season? That’s a hell of an improvement.
Also, Barreto, who played shortstop exclusively for his first few seasons in the US, has started quite a few times at second base over the last couple months, with starts nearly evenly split between those two positions.
While there’s no doubt Semien has improved greatly compared to first half of last season, there are still times when he does that double crow-hop hesitation that make me think center field should still be an option.
The Kansas delegation at the RNC was all decked out in Royals gear and claimed to be the home of the MLB champions. Can we get a fact-check on that, Jennifer?
You’d think they’d be boasting about the wonders that Sam Brownback’s budgets have done for their state’s economy instead.
Here comes the GIDP.
The presence of TLong should inspire the A’s to victory.
It made me look up my favorite T-Long moment.

I can’t find the big catch during the win streak. My google-fu is lame.
What about that big two-out double he hit off of Mussina in the playoffs? Only thing is I can’t remember if the guy on first scored or not…
too soon
Sending the runner there was pretty stupid even with two outs (and McBride due up next). He was set up to throw from shallow left when Semien was still rounding third.
Ron Washington 2.0 is more impetuous waving guys home than I remember the first version being. He is still much much better than Gallego though.
Maybe Wash is the mole?
What the …?!?! Are you at HOME? And not at Root Beer Float
DayNight? I hope there’s root beer and ice cream all over the kitchen counter at least. When it moved to a night game they pretty much lost me.
Great play by both Overton and McBride. Suck it Gonzalez.
I could get tired really fast of Valbuena, especially for styling after a single in the 3rd inning.
Major LOLs at Gonzalez’s foul ball plunking the malt vendor square in the buttocks.
Really strong base running performance by Oakland tonight.
Just got around to downloading this pic from my phone. I call it Khrush No Smash.
Healy can hit.
Slowrie.
this is my favorite comment of the year
For the love of R’hllor, Coco.
The A’s just won a game with pitching from Overton, Coulombe, Hendriks, and Eyechart.
Unbelievable.
And with Oakland being the team scoring from second on an infield single and an offline throw.
The hunter became the hunted.
The Pie-r got pied.
Heroic at-bat by Vogt in the ninth.
Huzzah!
This habit of winning games is dangerous for my sanity.
walk off in the 10th? meh. vince inning
Thanks for the innings dillon, now send arismendy back when you land in nashville
Midway through the game, down 3-0. Got em right where we want em.
One-possession game
Still within a touchdown
Still within a touchdown.
ha!
Whoa…plate of shrimp!
Worst 90s hip-hop show ever.
ErdoÄŸan is certainly making the most of his opportunity … an inspiration to Drumpf I’m sure.
The governor of Florida is just the creepiest dude.
The attorney general not much better.
Now there’s some super crazy multi-level marketing scammer from Florida giving a wackadoodle speech. That state is just ridiculous.
Bernie Madoff was unavailable.
Not something you like to see in the box score in your prized deadline acquisition’s debut:
Pomeranz pitched to 7 batters in the 4th.
How many chairs did he punch though.
He was pitching to the score.
I love this, and love that the Gnats still lost because Cain was even worse.
Things could be worse, baseballwise
Geez, I thought the ’79 A’s were bad (and they were).
