i left in my signature line, and just now see the typo
at least you didn’t go and fix it.
if sonny goes 4+, is that a QS?
“Sonny Gray probably saying ‘just give me the one run and I’ll do the rest'” – Ray Fosse, as they showed Sonny’s 6.00 ERA to begin the bottom of the first.
Great job by Valencia working the AB until he got the pitch he wanted.
What a guyhole.
Yo Ed, my boy’s soccer team was playing a team yesterday that had a boy who looked like one of your boys but I didn’t see you so maybe not.
garfield park at 215?
Yep!
sorry i missed. I was at the baseball game.
he agreed to play baseball as a favor to me.
the little girl is the sister of the long haired boy. she is a year younger, but the family just had a baby, so she plays with the big kids. i like watchingher dribble
That little girl was astonishing. She hit one of the best shots I’ve ever seen at that level, from a crazy angle, off the crossbar and then the post.
she absolutely destroyed he age girls. her parents are stretched pretty thin, when it comes time for school soccer, she is going to be something
milo was playing on his brothers u10 team
he pitched an inning of baseball at rolph, then rode his scooter to garfield and played soccer
“Right now you just have to wonder about Sonny Gray and his confidence.”
Et tu, Ken?
curve/slider still a problem
just noticed no butler again.
wow
or I just noticed alanso at first
What a ridiculous stadium.
They should not be allowed to play Major League Baseball in this shithole.
Until they get a new park, just take the damn roof off and play outdoors.
…..
The one game I saw in the Kingdome that happened, turned an easy high shallow fly out into a single when nobody could play the carom.
did the mariners get called for icing?
WTF is Ladendorf rushing that play so much, with Hank Conger running?
I hate this team so much.
I am definitely doing the installment plan for MLB.TV next year.
The main reason I selected the Milwaukee-Cincinnati road trip was that I haven’t been to either city in ~25 years, so both ballparks are new to me. The other reason was, considering this issue back in January, who are some teams the 2016 A’s might play maybe 3 competitive games out of 5 against?
Haven’t lost since I posted this.
Ha!
Argh. Almost the same bad missed location fastball to the same damn guy who homered last time.
Grant Balfour Aussieing it up in the TV booth.
Disappointing lack of profanity.
I miss the 2012 Oakland Athletics. I miss them a lot.
this is kind terrible
finally a good slider
If Vogt waits for the hop he makes the play there I think.
He has to be careful about positioning though, not blocking the plate before he receives the ball.
if vogt catches strike three…
Not quite dead yet!
Even less dead now. Wow.
Danny Valencia is a Green-and-Golden God!
All 3 of them were FKing destroyed.
Thanks, and go As.
Fuck yeah Danny!
Whaaaaaaaaaa?????
as long as hit hits 3 hrs a day, we’re good
That would have been an easy one to mail in the final six innings. Even good A’s teams occasionally succumb to that at the end of a long road trip.
Never a doubt.
Often an error.
How about that?
Randomly thinking about the contract dilemma for superstars – take an enormous contract and you may consume enough of the payroll to prevent the team from competing; take a smaller contract and there’s no guarantee that management will use the savings to better the team.
Has anyone ever had a contract with a lower base but add-ons based on whether the team loses a certain number of games, so that it costs management to surround a (relatively) cheap superstar with dross?
Aren’t there union-set rules about things that can be used as incentives (awards/ABs/etc)?
I’m pretty sure that they can’t be based on stats at all, aside from games played or something.
Thanks, and go As.
More or less
Which is weird, cause dont’ a lot of guys get bonuses for ASG selection, or MVP or CY?
Thanks, and go As.
Yeah, but they don’t depend on playing, pitching or batting skill.
asvd
love it.
Thanks, and go As.
Today’s Manchester United game was abandoned after a bomb was found in the stadium. It turned out to be a training device inadvertently left behind after a security exercise with search dogs.
You’d think that you’d be (a) very careful to count them out and count them back in again, and (b) a bit concerned that the dogs didn’t find one of them.
A couple months ago the CIA left some actual explosives in a school bus that they borrowed from the local school district for training exercises.
So with more information:
– they did count them out and back in again, but they got the count wrong.
– the device contained no explosives, so the dogs wouldn’t have been able to find it.
The latter is a bit odd because I can’t imagine what value an unfindable device has in a training exercise.
because if and when they find them, they’re not unfindable. they’re simply findable for the wrong reason.
we meant to train the dogs to find explosives… they’re rather keen on the smell of burberry handbags though. whoops!
holy fk
Thanks, and go As.
First connected swing I’ve seen in a LONG time.
In baseball? Yup. Pretty epic.
Wow, Rougned Odor throws mean overhand right.
jinx!
Thanks, and go As.
That gif is amazing. Did the rest of the Blue Jays try to kill Odor after that?
it got pretty nuts.
Thanks, and go As.
beltre was a hero. whatever the opposite of a suspension is, he should get it
A get out of Suspension free card?
Solution? Precipitation?
Need the llama’s help with this one.
This is still my favorite though. And, the commentary (not the fight itself) is from the very game I was talking about last week…

meters. we should bring those back
That’s like a Yard, right?
Don’t know the back story but Joey B probably shouldn’t have stepped to Odor like that if he wasn’t going to be ready to defend himself or throw a hand of his own. He seems to have misjudged whether or not Odor is about that life.
story is bautista hit in the inning, benches warned. joey bats posed.
then he did a filthy dirty slide into second on a dp. Odor turned and bautista stepped up and got clocked. Beltre grabbed bautista just before he was about to be destroyed
after the melee, jesse chavez hit fielder with the first pitch of the next inning and walked off the field
here
So is Odor at least out for the upcoming series in Oakland?
There should be massive TX suspensions for the entire oakland series IMO. Maybe just forfeit the games, that’ll each em.
no decision will be made tomorrow
whoa. that is deep.
That was a disappointing Sharks opener. Goals are going to be hard to come by in this series. I hope Jones is up to the task.
Thoroughly outclassed. They couldn’t get a single PP attack started in 6 minutes, seemed to have trouble clearing 5-5, and clearly aren’t as physical.
I’m debating whether they can drag the series to 6, but I don’t at all see them advancing.
I’m not that pessimistic. Despite not playing their best game the Sharks had plenty of chances to score, good pressure on the goal most of the 2nd period and at the end of the 3rd. I expect all the games will be close, which means it can be anyone’s chance to win.
Agreed.
Are any of you going to be out tailgating today?
Well, shit.
It’ll be like the White Sox getting an ace at the trading deadline.
