        .231/.274/.347 as a team in July coming into tonight, and tonight isn’t going to improve it. So, basically nine Eric Sogards.

          To incorporate last night, the team was .224/.267/.336 for 24 games/852 plate appearances in July, en route to the 10-14 record. So to be fair, they had a little more power than nine Sogards. It’s closer to nine Sam Fulds.

    I was thinking tonight that Butler is going to be the A’s Chone Figgins. They couldn’t be more opposite as players, but in the sense that the Mariners gave Figgins a long-term deal and took the position that dammit, he’s got to be better than what we’ve seen so far. So Figgins was still on the roster and getting quite a bit of playing time long after it was clear that the M’s should have cut their losses and dumped his ass.

    As we wrap up July, I’d say that if you follow this team closely through August and September, it marks you as one of the most loyal fans in baseball. It probably means you need to get a life too, but you certainly can wear that badge of loyalty.
