100. Orange and Black
Burns, CF (speedy!)
Vogt, C (amusing!)
Zobrist, LF (versatile!)
Reddick, RF (cannon!)
Davis, 1B (glove-y!)
Lawrie, 3B (incomprehensible!)
Sogard, 2B (nerdy!)
Semien, SS (sagh!)
Graveman, P (useful!)
At the flea market of late July we put our wares on the card tables, and will not be at all insulted if you choose to pay the asking price and not haggle.
"Kraut will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no kraut."
So maybe we don’t tout Zobrist’s baserunning tool.
14 pitchers have wins against all 30 current big league team. Tim Hudson needs only a win over the A’s to be the 15th.
not getting it
Bob Melvin had a career .969 OPS vs Randy Johnson.
Less useful.
I missed all of the “fun,” but was Graveman that horrible again?
Was not getting low strike called, then left many fat pitches up in the zone to be smacked hard.
Even in crap years, the A’s have generally managed to avoid getting swept by the Giants since they started to play in the regular season. Maybe it happened once, but I think the A’s swept them back that year.
This is really terrible. I guess I can be happy for Huddy if he gets the win. Otherwise, I guess I’m glad that I have work to do and am listening to music.
Huddy can still hit.
Not dead yet!
Pomeranz warming up. Is he not going into the rotation after all?
32 real-game pitches feels like a lot for just a side session. Good outing.
Tomorrow is an off-day, so they can just move him back.
Tha fuck, guys?
Absolutely pathetic. What a joke.
WTF Smolinski?
There’s suck, and then there’s suck with dumb mental mistakes which is just intolerable.
That was lame.
Barf. Good for Huddy I guess.
Argh. I hate those guys.
wow, the angels CAN get less likable!
Victorino’s from Maui and was a Phillie, which have always mitigated his negatives for me. He’ll have a hard time overcoming the stink of Anaheim, though.
is he saying hello or goodbye?
Aloha Puto!
Clippard to the Mets for a high A pitcher, Casey Meisner, whose BB/K ratio has been mediocre. I wasn’t expecting much for him and am underwhelmed anyway. But part of that is my sour mood. On the upside, the guy is big and young and throws pretty hard, so that’s something.
July 28: On this date in baseball history the A’s had a no-hitter thrown against them (1976, by CWS), but also on this date the Dodgers had a perfect game thrown against them (1981, by Montreal, Denny Martinez). So we win.
