After his .305/.369/.644 start in April, gravity has taken hold and CY25 has put up a .149/.184/.255 month of May. He enters the series 2-for-30, both singles, with no walks in that span.
That’s quite a trio at the bottom of the Yanks’ lineup, as CY25 (wearing #24 now) is joined by 2B Stephen Drew (.167/.238/.319) and SS Didi Gregorius (.211/.274/.286).
I hope the bobblehead aficionados enjoy their prize. The pressure is on Vogt to get a couple knocks vs. CC Sabathia. Kendall Graveman takes the mound for the Athletics.
Burns CF, Semien SS, Zobrist 2B, Butler DH, Vogt 1B, Lawrie 3B, Reddick RF, Phegley C, Canha LF.
IIRC the A’s have usually hit Sabathia well, even when he was good, but this year they have had No Success against lefties.
The new mlb.tv media player seems pretty cool.
Stupid McCann
vince you are a professional. you need to call the HR better
He is really not holding up well as the lead guy.
I am using the #unleashwithtowny to advocate for slusser
Some lefty is going to no-hit the A’s this year and so far there’s every reason to think Sabathia is the guy.
Not anymore!
They decided to do the three hits in a row, no runs, thing instead.
Semien, killing me
That was horrible.
Why am I still watching this team.
You’re a completist. Gotta collect all the fails.
2015 oakland A’s: like pokemon and pog had a baby.
Beane babies.
that one might be too spot on.
Remember the 1977 A’s? Well they’re back. In pog form.
don’t make me alf.
Zobrist has achieved the impressive feat of making the infield defense worse.
Kind of a poor effort at the initial tag there by Phegley.
Phegley missed the tag, A-Roid missed the plate. I’m sure they’ll come up with some obscure rule which rewards the Yankees.
He got the plate somehow. I don’t know how he managed it, but he did.
Slapped it with his slapping hand.
I don’t have any idea how the review umpire back in NY could tell from any of those replays that A-Roid touched the plate. No surprise the call was overturned, though.
That’s our CY.
Maybe we can dump Butler for an actual country breakfast before his salary goes up to 11.5 million for the next two years.
wait, are we at maximum catcher?
I’d be OK with someone drilling AR in the nads next time up.
Are you kidding me with that throw.
I will pay someone to rub my feet right now.
And now to make Abad situation worse.
God this feels so much like 2011. Just good enough to lose, never get a hit with runners on. I’m still hoping we can get lots of deals on front row seats as the summer lingers on and this fart of a season starts to smell worse.
And I am keeping that despite the game tying homer because maybe it was the spark the team needed!
The flatulence metaphor that turns the season around!
Abad is still in, for some reason.
i’m listening……
Wow – Abad actually got two LH hitters out.
in the same game??
Wait, Burns homered again?!
Shoulda let him try for another one.
I don’t understand that bunt. burns is not a double play candidate
Is a grand slam too much to ask for? Please?
fk yeah! walks!
fk yeah! no gidp!
Scribbles!
I see all those people in jackets and stuff and I’m so jealous. We start our 16 weeks of hell this weekend as we get up to 100 for the first time.
stop talking vince
I’d be ok if we never acquired a RP that I have heard of ever again.
sigh
Oakland, where relievers come to double their walk rate for no apparent reason.
You would think having all this foul ground would be a good reason to throw moar strikes. But what do I know?
THROW SOME FKING STRIKES
vince. you are a bad announcer
that was performance art bad right there — use of silence and everything
I heard the crack of the bat — mind you, I knew it was a fairly deep fly ball at least just from the sound — heard the guy on the crowd mic go OH MY GOD, NO and then the cheer when dude caught it…. all before Vince said a word. Was I hallucinating?
Never in doubt
Thankfully, it was a night game.
Also, FK you, Yankee fans.
Wait, isn’t Vince supposed to call the play that ends the game while it’s happening? That was kinda after.
he need to let us know what happened in the 4th or 5th that was inconsequential, but he remembered it so he had to say it, trip over his words then as an aside tell us the game was over.
he cannot capture the tension
tension is one thing, but he can’t say wtf is happening in the English language
The scary part is I think he’s getting worse.
he has too many innings to fill.
let’s be honest: I love Vinny as a man, but being next to KK covers all manner of deficiencies as a b’caster, just that HoF-caliber presence. With Ken not there, those deficiencies are center stage.
Exactly this. I don’t know him, but he seems like a good guy and he can be a very affable presence on the air in the right setting. He’s just being asked to fill a role he is not capable of handling.
it’s in a sense troubling that Roxy Bernstein for certain and even Guy Haberman — who may be vanilla but at least can describe the action — are superior and should really be main PxP guy. I have always said that they should move Vince to TV, get rid of Kuiper, and I’d love to see Roxy become permanent secondary guy on radio.
ptbnl sighting as lawrie jogs to the dugout post HR.
Loud-mouth Yankee fan right behind me putting the moron in oxymoron, then had the temerity to leave in the 7th.
Very interesting distribution of bobbleheads today. I arrived at 4:30 just as the gates were supposed to be opening — they didn’t actually open until 4:45. The season ticket holder line was all the way over to the Oracle entrance, but it was only one deep so I knew I’d get a bobblehead, and I did. By the time I made it through and into the elevator lobby, about 5:15 or so, I could see that the suite entrance was down to its last two boxes. I went up to the West Side Club and sat around and had a soda, and about 6:15 we saw someone post in the FB lounge that there were still plenty of bobbles at the STH gate. JLaff had an extra ticket, so he gave it to me (he was eating) and I went out and came back in at 6:30 with another bobblehead (for Gigs and Chickie, who are in Boston) — and there would have been time to do that at least once more, if I’d had another ticket. I’m guessing that all the season ticket holders came early, and now that they’re being strict about having to have a credential as well as a season ticket to get in that gate, none of the Yankee fans were able to use it.
I got through with just a pair of tickets (and got bobbleheads from a big pile at 6:45), but I saw people with one season ticket and a bunch of friends with regular tickets get bounced.
Did anyone get an extra bobblehead I could buy?
It was meant to be a surprise, but there’s one on its way to you via Ed.
Awww. Thank you!
You’re very welcome.
I got mine.
First of two NHL Conference Finals Game 7’s is underway. NY-Tampa tied 0-0 about to start third period.
Base clogging is real, y’all.
That gnome looks 0% like Sonny Gray.
Glen, Ray: CY25 isn’t on the A’s anymore. You don’t have to make excuses for his terribleness now.
It’s tough to put up good numbers when you
don’t play everydaysuck.I was surprised to see Burns was hitting over .300. How did I miss that?
And slugging over .400!
This one is way more surprising.
