Game 48: Jesse, Again 75

After a sparkling complete game shutout from Jesse H. yesterday, Jesse C. will lead Billy, Marcus, Ben, Billy, Stephen, Mark, Brett, Josh, and Sam to what we hope will be an unprecedented fourth win IN A ROW, even though they’re losing already but only because they haven’t batted yet.  And Sean is back in the bullpen, although not closing yet if we even have anything for him to close.

    I got the “no success” message. I wonder if wash gets that one too.

    Should Semien have made the play on Gose’s hit? They never showed a replay.

  4. Glorious Mundy May 26,2015 7:30 pm

    The Dodgers are trading for Callaspo? On purpose?

    • Englishmajor May 26,2015 7:32 pm || Up

      I think they must have confused him with somebody else.

    • mother pucker May 26,2015 7:33 pm || Up

      I was more impressed that Atlanta decided to give him a no trade clause.

      • MikeV May 26,2015 7:42 pm || Up

        He was a FA signing this offseason so he’d have to approve a trade before June 1 or 15 or whatever it is.

        And I have to say: mikev is one of my favorite people on here -slusser.

        Thanks, and go As.

    • Future Ed May 26,2015 8:00 pm || Up

      no, they are trading away uribe. expect a dfa for callaspo which is why he said no

      Ex-A’s on the Braves (Cahill, Gomes, Callaspo, Johnson) have combined for -1.0 WAR. (And that’s with JJ being +0.4)

    Do not, I repeat DO NOT, look at what the Blue Jays’ third baseman did tonight.

  6. Glorious Mundy May 26,2015 7:49 pm

    I did not realize how bad Fuld’s numbers are. Wow.

    • MikeV May 26,2015 8:26 pm || Up

      I can’t see any reason for him to be on the team. There’s got to be someone in the minors who could use a shot.

      And I have to say: mikev is one of my favorite people on here -slusser.

        This. I’d rather see Zobrist in LF and Sogard at 2B, with Fuld looking for work.

        tommy milone was a pretty decent hitter

    Fuld being in the lineup against Price may be a bigger indictment of Beane than the Donaldson and Russell trades combined.

    • lenscrafters May 26,2015 8:37 pm || Up

      This is one effect of the Lester/Cespedes trade that’s often not mentioned. Cespedes’s extra year could’ve certainly helped limit Fuld appearances.

    I could never be a pitcher in the MLB. Beside the obvious talent reasons, if I was pitching a gem like this I would be going in every inning and saying “think you could TRY and get a run for me this time morans???”

    It’s hard to hear about what JD is doing when our current third baseman is struggling to out slug Billy Burns.

  30. Glorious Mundy May 26,2015 10:40 pm

    Still mad at Vince for calling Zobrist’s double a home run.

    I’m tellin ya, the NHL playoffs are providing great high drama. This baseball shit is overrated.

      The Ducks look tough to beat at this point. Chicago may tie it up tonight but hard to see them winning two in a row. Not sure either of the teams in the east can hang with them, their size and hitting just wears you out over a long series.

  32. Dial C for Concupiscence May 27,2015 10:38 am

    A one run loss caused by A’s errors. At least the 2015 A’s are consistent

  33. Glorious Mundy May 27,2015 10:44 am

    Two A’s related stories on the front of the Sporting Green today! One is about a guy who last pitched for the A’s in 2011. The other is about a guy who last pitched for the A’s (in games that count) in 2006.

      I LOLed at the listed attendance last night of 22K.

        • Future Ed May 27,2015 5:47 pm || Up

          ok. I mean, sure, that’s how many sold, great. but don’t claim good attendance

          still not as bad as the giants consecutive sell out streak when 2013 was 2/3rds full stadiums and the announced CONSECUTIVE SELLOUT AGAIN YAY US at the game. sure you can claim it, but don’t emphasize it.

          I have $5. No I don\'t.
