Billey!
Decent start.
In other news, hell has frozen over…
you deleted? I can’t figure that out.
Burns hit a HR. I gladly delete the tripe I post when something better arrives…
I missed it. Was it inside the park?
I mean, it didn’t leave the building.
legit. out of most parks. not coliseum with the wall I think
I’m sorry, Billy Burns did what?!
comebacker
comment got lost. nice play by semien
IM IN LOVE WITH STEVEN VOGT!
what a dick
In the context of the new rules, that is a dirty (sucio) play by Souza, no?
it seemed. Vogt wasn’t in the baseline
Disagree with that. Vogt’s left foot was on the foul side of the base line, and Souza therefore didn’t go out of the base line to hit him. They’ve replayed this repeatedly on TV but I don’t have the sound on; based on previous comments I presume Fosse thought that was a clean play.
It didn’t look like he was trying to knock him down. He didn’t avoid contact, but it wasn’t anywhere near as hard as it could have been. And Vogt did step in the path after caught the ball. Seems mostly that he should have slid and realized too late that he didn’t.
better chance if he slide
after a replay of 8, I agree with that.
fosse did not. he thinks the runner targeted the catcher. with some evidence, but I don[t know the rule
The language of the rule is:
So my interpretation is that if the runner is going straight for home plate he can hit the catcher as Souza did, but he has very little leeway to go left or right without being called out.
It seemed to me he was trying to initiate contact a lot more than he was trying to touch the plate.
he didn’t turn in like ray thinks, but he did lean and lower shoulder.
don’t know if that violates the rule
There’s little doubt he gets called out even if the ball is dropped.
success for burns
as someone developing mild ocd. I think I would be a wreck tagging up. I bet I would go back half the time
out
Looks like Souza got the worst of the collision after all.
brett, o don’t care about you majick the gatghering cards
Photo-essay from MTG tournament.
Have bleach on hand.
can’t believe how long it took me to get that.
Ew. At least they don’t need to worry about being embarrassed in front of any women.
More bubble wrap on Sonny, please.
no gold glove for him. should have kicked it to second
Cheez, I read that as “bums semien Reddick Vogt butler muncy canha sogarg”

Read my mind. Was actually scared to post it seeing as how it is so rare for us to get to that magick 2…
As Otero starts throwing. Eff both of you.
If I am able to affect the performance of professional athletes on the other side of the continent by my actions here, I promise to use my super powers only for good and not for evil.
CANHA GET AN AMEN FROM THE CONGREGATION!!
I agree with ty waller, I want to see that play again
Ugh Liverpool …
anything at stake? europa league?
Pride.
Europa League, but that’s a poison pill.
less than a run an inning?
that is some riverboat gambling, bob
I’m busy painting and not following the game… why was Gray pulled after the 5th???
hit in the low calf on a comebacker. stayed in game pitched ok
Hit in the calf in the 4th. He got through 5 and now assuming they want to quickly get him treatment. And really with this bullpen can you blame them < rolls eyes >.
“right ankle contusion”
The 2005 A’s bottomed out at 17-32 (IIRC), before becoming awesome.
I just checked bbref and you are correct. They went 71-42 (.628) from there on out, but didn’t make the wild card.
Tied the Angels for a minute after the famous K Rod play. One of my favorite seasons if you ignore September.
that was one of my favorite moments. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing
And Gameday recorded it as “Jason Kendall scores on defensive indifference”!
That was the game that got me lurking at **. I was at work and had no one to talk to about it. So I went online to see if there was somewhere I could chat..
I was sitting next to a couple people from England who were vacationing and came to the game.
I had to explain to them that what happened was really, really, REALLY not normal.
I couldn’t figure out what happened from Gameday, either, and had to run out to my truck to find out what happened.
I was about to go to my under building parking and stayed in the car at the gate not letting anyone go in.
Yep, finally tied the Angels on September 1, but they were fighting to get back not fighting to stay on top. Quickly collapsed afterwards.
That season, one position player had two significant injuries. The A’s were 55-29 when he was in the lineup and 33-45 when he was out. That player was Superstar In The Making Bobby Crosby.
Erark Kotsvez?
I remember him hitting 3 the latter half of the season. And enjoying it!
And this game has just been given a ticket to flavor town!
Yay dingers.
sogard showing off his aikido moves
Ugh, hate those artificial turf seams.
Should be E-8.
It amazes me how, in all phases of the game, no lead is safe when youre playing the A’s.
I mean, I knew the A’s were not good, but this is seriously only the 2nd time all year they have won two in a row?
That is outstanding!
2 in a row!!!
A series win!!!
Sadly, not quite.
A series split!!!
w00t
Nice wins bitches.
The El Foldo last year was Games 117-162 which produced a 16-30 record. And this year they are 16-30. So, 72-44 the rest of the season, presto, might even win the division this time.
Better watch out, or this consecutive wins thing could become a habit.
I’ll risk some habits
In the absence of quality baseball I’ve been consuming as much hockey as I can. Both Conference finals series have been really good so far; both tied 2-2. Rangers-Lightning game 5 on now.
Added bonus: few other big league sporting events include 60 second commercials with Ron Paul warning about the impending financial collapse.
What’s going to cause the financial collapse this time?
I ask because I refuse to watch hockey and yet I need to know these thing.
Paul’s line is that the US dollar will become worthless due to Washington’s profligate spending, corruption and general incompetence. The solution, which has been a right-wing solution ever since the dollar’s value was no longer tied to the government’s holdings of gold, is that you should invest in precious metals, in this case particularly through the company for which Mr. Paul is a paid spokesman.
Thank you.
Butter
Parkay
It’s not nice to fool mother nature.
I cant believe its not butter!
something called “ben zobrist” reinstated, gentry to AAA
Speaking of players on the AAA shuttle, Cook must be hurt? He hasn’t pitched in a week.
Not in today’s lineup though.
year, weird, and no lawire? did I miss an injury?
This was the third straight day Lawrie was held out of the lineup for being “a little banged up.” At first the excuse was the Tampa artificial turf.
You could maybe argue that the cross country flight sets him back a little and that means give him one more day, but yeah for “a little banged up” this seems like day-to-day.
I was kinda hoping Fuld would get the boot, but it looks like Gentry has been on a whole new level of suck this year. I think we all knew that Fuld/Gentry and the shell of Coco holding down 2 of the 3 OF spots going into this year was going to be a huge issue.
I’m a little concerned that the every reference to Korach’s return today which I can find on Twitter derives from the one John Hickey Oak Tribune article I linked a few days ago. No formal announcement from the A’s or 95.7. And nothing to suggest that today’s appearance means he’s back full time the rest of the way.
After Bill suffered his hip injury he worked only home games that final season. Maybe one road trip each to Anaheim and Seattle but that was it. I suspect that will be Ken’s situation for a while, when he does return.
P.S. It could be a one-day test. Roxy is working this game for ESPN Radio. I thought ESPN might send Dallas Braden for the telecast, but it’s Mulder (and Aaron Boone).
