Okay, now it has.
Well, now it has.
Pour it out!
belmont shore’s finest.
those dudes were nice. hands down the worst show I ever saw. bar none. without question. unequivocally.
saw a good one too. and a few forgettable.
i saw them twice for free at the nugget (CSULB’s bar area). they were OK for a local band. did a pixies cover and that’s the song everybody liked.
went to one of their houses for a party and… did something with a steak that i got out of the freezer. can’t even remember what. 40-ouncers were involved. it was a story. “dude, remember when dukie got that steak out of the freezer at the sublime house?”
yeah, I can’t say I knew any of them, but when they were still peddling 40oz of freedom out of their van, they would come to my record store on the regular dropping off copies that sometimes sold other times didn’t.
every time one of ’em would as for papers. every time I said I didn’t have any. Once I offered an empty coke can which they gladly accepted and smoked in the parking lot.
I never understood why they never had smoking paraphernalia on them.
Why carry stuff on them when others might give it to them?
good point. they never asked for bud though
keep rainin’ all the time
but the river is runnin’ dry.
Yay Sogard
Shame to only get one run with how wild the kid was in that inning.
Bryan and Ralph sighting!
I see on TV that wacchampions (Bryan and Ralph I think?) forged ahead with his travel plans. I’m glad I got my road trip out of my system in early May.
I think Bryan was going to be there anyway, some of the hotels he works with are in Texas.
Dude.
Oh for FKs sake.
Are the A’s going to make so many errors that Fosse runs out of excuses for them?
Apparently not yet.
“I don’t want to make excuses but….[excuses]”
This was a new one. It took me a while to parse gameday’s description of the error.
Sogard snagged the ball behind the base, flipped with his glove to Semi who couldn’t catch the floating ball in front him and then fell flat on his face trying to recover the ball.
It’s basically either “be relentlessly negative” or “don’t comment at all”.
He.can’t.play.SS
He’s Young, But He Can’t Play
Looked like three of those four “balls” to Springer were in the strike zone.
15 straight games with an error committed, that is ridiculous. My D-League softball team does better than that.
Can we get your team’s SS for a bag of balls???
cespedes
I don’t get having both Fuld and Gentry on the roster at all. Parrino sucks but his presence would make it easier to pinch-hit for either Sogard or Lawrie, and he could be a defensive sub for Semien if they ever have a lead after the 7th inning again.
That’s cute. You think the A’s could hold a lead after the 7th with good defense.
I mean come on.
Seeing the bats hushed by a rookie pitcher the A’s have never seen seems to happen a lot even in the A’s good seasons.
But those other guys probably weren’t wearing Batman cleats.
Yeah AJ, I’m not so sure about bunting with your #7 hitter with 1st and 2nd, no outs. There’s probably a reason why you decided to bat those next two #8 and #9.
My comment tonight comes in the form of a rant:
I am a qualified nurse. When I yell for help, fucking drop what you are doing and come help me. If you want me to do something use your words to tell me what you want me to do, damnit. I can’t read your mind.
A little kid set themselves on fire by accident today. It was terrible. I want to drink.
Rant away.
And how the hell can any professional in your line of work NOT KNOW that yelling for help means right-the-fuck NOW?!
I know how you’re feeling… and you’re braver than me. Take care of yourself.
The kid wasn’t in pain. :(
Fuck.
Five year old.
Anything I can do to help?
No. Thanks though.
Didn’t think there was, but I had to ask.
I say it again… you’re braver than me.
I’m much better today.
Good to hear.
oh man.
listen to blue and fuzzy
This is classic bad Pomeranz. He’s only allowed 2 balls to be hit out of the infield but he’s walked 5, hit 1 and failed to get over to first base in time. I guess they’re going to blame part of it on some physical issue but it just seemed like more of it was between the ears.
It wasn’t even clear that Pomeranz was hurt. Something like:
(Melvin goes to mound with Walt)
Melvin: Are you hurt?
Pom: No
Vogt: Nah, he just sucks.
Melvin (to umpire): Mujica’s warm, I’m bringing him in.
The other team can make errors?
It’s contagious.
we need a nurse
The walks too, I guess. They must have snuck Pom-pom and Semien into the Astros locker room to spread germs around before the game.
Followed by two walks by the reliever. How familiar! Don’t worry, Astros fans, there is a bottom half to this inning.
Apparently not, after all.
Cue the inside-the-park triple play, as all 3 runners overtake Butler between 3rd and home.
I’m assuming you meant an outside the park triple play. And if you pass a runner on the basepaths, isn’t it the runner you pass that is out?
No, I meant an inside-the-parker turned into a triple play, and it’s the passer who is out not the passed.
Aren’t all triple plays inside the parkers with a batter too slow?
Aren’t all balls in play* inside the parkers with a batter too slow?
*except for actual inside the parkers
I was just going for a reason why the batter would be overtaking the lead runner between 3rd and home.
The way Lawrie swirls and cocks the bat while the pitch is coming seems counterproductive.
Nice two strike hitting by Lawrie. Yes, Lawrie.
I feel he isn’t as bad as the first couple of weeks
He bottomed out at a .542 OPS on April 24. Since then he has OPS’d .712, which isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire.
Our bullpen’s used up all the flammable material
wow. that was impressively poor.
They needed to score about 4 runs in that inning to have a chance to win.
Nice play by Carter.
I thought he was going to slip on the bag and fall on his ass.
If he were still on the A’s he would have.
Didn’t look like any of the pitches to Gonzalez were strikes.
So far, I’m feeling good about my prediction of Mujica pitching “decently”.
He was such a scapegoat for the Red Sox — I’m going to enjoy gloating to my wife every time he pitches well for the A’s.
…next year?
We gonna win this game, or what?
What.
I’m penning my hopes on it.
Well since winning one run games is obviously impossible, we’re going to have to score again
Shoulder injury for Pom-Pom.
Who was planning on going to Fresno to see Zito this week?
Me among others. I’ll still go, even if he’s headed to Tampa by then.
Did it pull away?
(Apparently this is a strictly Midwestern name for the game ptbnl might know as British Bulldog; we played it in my suburban childhood, in the days when kids were turned out of the house on summer mornings and not expected to return before dark.)
we played british bulldog on rainy days in an empty classroom with pad on the floor.
Let 40 7th and 8th grade boys in a room and have them play a game bum rushing each otrher, picking them up for three seconds and dropping them?
Seems like a good idea
We called it Red Rover.
We used both, Red Rover and British Bulldog. More civilized games for the neighborhood boys to play after we had outgrown Smear the Queer.
We played Red Rover too, but it was different from Pom Pom Pullaway though I don’t remember how. Also Starlight, Moonlight, Capture the Flag, and Kick the Can.
duck duck grey duck?
Yes of course, but that was more of a little kids’ game like Ring Around the Rosey. The others were games that required a critical mass of about 20 kids in a four-block radius between the age of 8 and 13 with absolutely nothing else to do. It could never happen now, since even if the kids were allowed to roam freely they’d all have classes and activities to go to, and of course computers and videos.
oh we didn’t play it one person running past, we played all 39 ran from one side to the other, when one was picked up, they we also in the middle until there was none left
Scribby!
Too bad Comcast cut to commercial before Melvin kissed him.
If he gets through another 1-2-3 he should get more than a kiss.
something is wrong with my radio signal
Chance of the bullpen holding a 1-run lead for another 2 innings – slim or fat?
Wow, that’s an annoying sounding bobblehead.
Butler double!
When Glen said he was “rounding second” I though we might have a Butler triple in the offing but then I realized how ridiculous that is.
Looking at the numbers, Butler hits a lot more doubles than I thought he did
At least according to Gameday, all 3 ground-outs were off balls.
I like that our radio broadcasts now feature ads for car title loans and for being an uber driver.
I personally enjoy the foot fungus spots.
Just noticed that LTVA is back on television too.
Holy crap Fuld
I think that’s the first time an A’s CF has ever had to climb the hill.
at bat’s description “springer flys out sharply to center fielder sam fuld”
That was a great freaking catch.
I think vince is having a heart attack
Wow, never seen that catch made before.
Scribbles putting in work
Bartelby!
Scribbles can plan on pitching a couple innings every game for the next 3 weeks.
Coco cannot buy one. Jeez.
I’m scared.
Fortunately Parrino went in for Semien to start this inning.
CSNBA just awarded its player of the game award to “The A’s Bullpen.” Before the bottom of the 9th.
Yeah, I was getting ready to smash things after that.
Gah Carter, don’t hit it like that
I guess “let them hit booming shots to the warning track” is as valid an approach as we have in the pen right now.
What do we call this again?
Chin bites, wince.
That felt like the ninth inning of a FKing Division Series game.
Yay!
Start the road trip with a win and send the ace to the mound tomorrow. Things are looking up.
It’s all uphill from here
This feels weird.

Who had the bullpen down for 4.2 shut-out, no-hit, innings?
That hill is so ridiculous.
Re the Pomeranz shoulder issue: Based on where Doolittle is in his rehab, I think they could move him to the 60-day DL and get two starts out of Zito, then DFA Zito to activate Doolittle.
Seems more likely to be Graveman.
That’s the easiest for managing the 40-man roster. I wouldn’t mind leaving Graveman in AAA until the All Star Break though. I’m thinking of the other possibilities. They wouldn’t lose Zito by a DFA, nor Gentry who is the new Barton.
I’m not sure Doolittle will make it back on time (from 2 days ago):
And there you go.
Word’s been Doolittle’s struggled to reach 90 MPH on his pitches so far in the rehab appearances.
