I always feel like I’m committing some kind of social faux pas when I post a game thread before the game actually starts, but that’s how I roll. I get “fashionably  late” – nobody wants to be the first to arrive – but, heck, if you want me to show up at 8:45 don’t ask me to be there at 8:00. Sheesh.
Felix v. Jesse hardly seems fair, and avoiding a sweep is perhaps a pleasant fantasy. Hernandez has not won only one start thus far, but, it was to the A’s. So who knows? That’s why they play the games.
LET’S GO OAKLAND!

Call me a cockeyed optimist, but I think we win this one.
You’re a cockeyed optimist.
But I like it.
totally got this
Saw a tweet that Z has like 5 QS now. I know how meaningless that is but given where Team Dynamite stands at some point you have to give him a shot right?
no no hitter for you
The pepto bismol pink doesn’t go well with either team’s colors.
where’s bed? pink and green are classic preppy colors.
Mama said SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN
BITCH
marcus semien is trolling us, right?
can we find him another position? what’s wash up to?
The “awwwwwwwww” on every 2-strike pitch – regardless of where it’s thrown – that isn’t called a strike greatly annoys me. The man isn’t entitled to strikes.
Howzabout we score four against Rodney.
Good plan.
should have asked for 8 or 12
So this pretty much sums it all up at this point:

If the A’s can’t win when they homer three times they are in big trouble.
It turns out, Semien should have been batting after Vogt.
Yeah, too bad we had Fuld, Sogard, Burns batting
in front of Semien.I’ve decided to become a Nationals fan. Peace.
Say hi to Gio for us. Sure do miss that guy.
Remember, FKers, it’s always darkest just before it goes pitch black.
strike two to fuld for his 2,000!
If Fuld’s zone today was anything like it was the day Gentry was tossed on a strike called to Fuld, the bottom edge of the zone is more in line with the 1.5 foot mark. Still a low strike, but closer to borderline.
As un-fun as that series was, I have to admit a home Mariners crowd on a Sunday, Mother’s Day, with Felix Hernandez pitching is kind of cool.
It’ll be a few days before I work on these, but here’s an example of what I was getting today.
Very nice! It’s so hard to get that depth (foreground, middle, background) in a sports photo.
Oh, you’d see it even more clearly if I still had my D3. This camera does a good job for being a step or two below that, though. Thanks.
One more example from today.
The A’s have the worst winning % in the AL as of right now.
On pace for >50 games below run-based expectation! Turn opponents into Mike Trout in high leverage bullpen situations!
I want to live in the BaseRuns alternate universe where the A’s are 18-15 and just 1.5 games behind the Astros.
I’d like to see the brighter side. We’re in the 3rd position in the draft at the moment.
Suck for Luck! Suck for Luck!
FKwiz! The A’s have only made 5 top-3 picks since the amateur draft was created. Name them.
TVP?
#14. Slipped due to signability concerns.
Ariel Prieto?
Nope. #5
Rick Monday was the first ever drafted.
Yes
Mulder?
Indeed
Side note: this guy is the most aptly named A’s first rounder.
the yankees thigh cheater guy who tried to make the california angels cool by posing with sunglasses in their look-who-we-got posters the 80s.
Yes. The YouTube clip of that play is worth it just for the umpires’ uniforms.
i forgot about the turtlenecks.
The ump with the burgundy jacket and turtleneck has the same hair-and-stache look that AJ Griffin has going tonight.
Grieve?
yes. almost every day.
Yep. You guys got the four easy ones.
rick monday
I got Monday and Mulder Guessed Prieto and Zito.
The A’s picked Pete Broberg #2 overall in 1968. He didn’t sign. Thurman Munson would have been the better pick in retrospect.
Monday, Reggie, Grieve, and Mulder were the others.
Yeah, wouldn’t have got Broberg ever, seeing as I’ve never heard of the man.
