          no… its bollocks. Cheer your own team. Alex Rios is a middling overpaid player claimed on waivers by his last two teams because TOR overpaid him. He has never done anything to beat us or earn our ire. It makes us petty and small as a fanbase.

            Eh, I’ve never been a big fan of the “he’s a bum” school of opponent taunting, but it’s ubiquitous and doesn’t make A’s fans look worse than any other team’s loudmouths do.

            "Kraut will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no kraut."
            • DFA Jun 19,2014 6:33 am || Up

              I disagree, when its one idiot doing it whatever, get 15k people together and several of them will be morons, just from a statistical perspective. But it was literally a about 10% of or fans were jumping and shouting in unison and telling a mediocre and unobtrusive right fielder he sucks so loudly that it could be heard everywhere in the park and on tv. Thats different to me. Look if its Arod or Manny or Bonds out there go for it.

              Look, go to the game and have a good time, you paid good money for the privilege. Cheer for your team. And If you are going to taunt the opposition, do it creatively.

                If it’s arguably the greatest offensive shortstop of all time, go for it? I mean, yeah, it’s weird that he’s playing right field, and he’s a big time asshole, but so are a lot of guys. A-Rod, on the other hand, did more offensive damage as a shortstop than any player other than Honus Wagner, who played pre-Negro Leagues, and for his sins he’ll never be elected to the Hall of Fame, the single highest honor a baseball player can aspire to. Does he REALLY need to be heckled?

                • dmoas Jun 19,2014 12:39 pm || Up

                  He needs to be reminded he’s an asshole. Guys with egos like that, the punishment seldom makes an impact. So does he need to be heckled? No more than any other guy might need to be heckled which tends to be assessed on the basis of whether or not you’re a heckler or not.

                • Ben Folds' Nuts Jun 19,2014 4:24 pm || Up

                  Punishments don’t make an impact, but neither does heckling. You know every time he hears it, he’s just like, “Yeah, I’m doing something right! If you’re not pissing someone off you’re not living like you should! Fuck the haters! The world needs me!”

                  But he’s not going into the Hall of Fame. Ever. Pretty sure that hurts worse than anything anyone could ever heckle him with.
