It’s the opener of a 6-game home stand, and the first of 13 consecutive games against the Rick Perry teams, which take us to the end of the month. Sonny Gray starts for the Green and Gold, opposed by RHP Jarred Cosart of Houston.
Crisp CF, Lowrie SS, Donaldson 3B, Moss 1B, Cespedes LF, Callaspo DH (thank goodness), Jaso C, Reddick RF, Sogard 2B.
Thank you for Have a real good time, Jennifer!
SO, crisp.
huh
aaron harang 7.2 no hit innings ended by david wright
BTW, Harang was pulled after 7, someone else gave up the hit
the marlins have a submariner called Steve Cishek
man, I really want a shortstop for memorial day
marlins game is going to test the transfer rule…
mike redman has to be the dumbest manager.
1-2nd, no out 4-4 game in the 9th. Stanton on deck. he chooses to call a sac bunt, sticks with it to a 3-1 pitch wehre the guy gets it down. pitcher throws to third, gets the runner by 2 feet, called out. Marlins challenge on transfrer. marlins win, bases loaded.
Giancarlo hits a grand slam. Mariners lose.
Astros pitching, unnhhhh. I’d forgotten how painful this is to watch.
You can be shitty or slow. But you can’t be both.
Fortunately Erik Bedard isn’t there anymore. Why the Rays gave him a job, I cannot explain.
I’m OK with the shitty part.
Callaspo!
7 of the next 10 against these guys, eh?
The problem there is, by the end of next week we’re going to be deluded into thinking Reddick has “found it”.
I view Reddick doing well more as a reason to shake your head at your shitty pitching.
Ok this pitcher is really terrible.
what happened? didn’t he do well last year?
More walks than strikeouts but shiny ERA
Resistable force meets moveable object.
This is just what Reddick needs to get his confidence back!
vince!, welcome. Nice of you to join us here in our little corner of teh internet.
hah
also, drink
This is…nice.
The genius of doing this in the first inning of the first game is this will tear apart their bullpen early on. Then again, maybe we don’t even have to worry about their bullpen anyway.
LMAO
Should have dropped it on the transfer, thrown to second and turned two.
um, Jed? bunt?
Scheppers of the Rangers -> DL (forearm/elbow issue)
so he lost his Scheppervescence? :(
It’s almost like jerking pitchers between reliever and starter can cause problems
I really wanted us to draft him both times.
Cespedes’ homers usually aren’t so Custian.
“Wow, now you know this pitcher really sucks!” — my childhood friend Bruce, upon hearing of Reddick’s HR
I don’t care what you say Josh Reddick is awesome.
I still non-ironically think he’s a good ballplayer.
Josh Reddick is 2 for 2!!!!
{{{looks out at sky for impending alien invasion}}}
no need to send him to sacramento to get him some AAA at bats
Getting to the Coliseum late and missing the first inning would have been worse than not going at all.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
People watching on TV, what the hell is going on? Bo Porter came after Lowrie?
bunted in the first inning after scoring 7
If I was Clemens, I would’ve thrown at Lowrie’s backside too.
Considering he was doing them a favor, I wouldn’t have.
Bo should probably worry more about finding a pitcher who isn’t complete horseshit instead of what other teams’ players are doing.
Bo ran out of the dugout almost to the foul line and was yelling at him (after Lowrie had apparently said something to Altuve). The grounds crew was thinking, aw crap we’re going to be in the middle of this.
i am guessing its the bunt
That, and then Lowrie with the looooooooong glare at Clemens after the pitch that went between Lowrie’s legs. It was a lot of posturing on both sides.
Trying to find a good place to eat after the game.
Sharks should sign Sonny for goalie.
1) I’m glad that even our worst pitchers generally throw strikes.
2) Also glad that Vernon is someone else’s problem.
3) (Lowrie shouldn’t have been bunting but) Bo Porter always seems terrible in every way.
Do we know what kind of $$ Doo got?
i may have missed the good part of this game.
i may have brought the bad part of this game.
i may have made a good part bad part sandwich for dinner.
Vince tells us that Cespedes has taken up golf. Just FYI.
Um. Is anyone up in the bullpen?
this is not a good outing for gray
It’s a good day for it though.
according to vince the worm has turned for reddick because even his outs are productive
The reality is, you can see his confidence building, at-bat by at-bat.
heh
boom
Tyson Ross – 8 IP, 4H, 9K, 1BB
Deserves an asterisk since it’s against the Gnats.
good for him
The hottie fails to blow the save.
Bottom of the 7th and the rainbow-colored blanket seems to be gone already?
parking lot
I am not sure you have to wait till this at bat is over to delete the word “try” from the title, soaker
Did vince just say he is going to the make up room to prepare for the “soon to be award winning A-team” show?
That was funny. I am stealing it.
word for word.
Typical Cook outing
in honor of breaking out the wood.
The thing about A’s-Astros games: Either the A’s cruise to an easy victory (usually), or they play like shit and lose. There aren’t very many scenarios where you’ll see a compelling ball game.
so…that was fun.
You guys were gone by the time I made it back to the lot!
No one was there! Except the guy who asked me for drugs!
I was there from like 5:30 to 6:45 before the game and maybe 15-20 min after.
I was there from 1645 to 1648.
we arrived at 502. ozzie said we missed you by 5 minutes. :(
I didn’t know anyone at the sign so I left. I’m terrible with people anyway, you should see me walk up to two SUVs full of guys, looking for faces I know.
that must have been the vile fratboy party :(
I did detect the odor of douche when I walked up.
they were all wearing…tank tops! :( :( :(
Lol
I saw you in your seats from our seats but thought texting “I can see you” would have been creepy.
That’s not new for you?
And I finally got to meet the famous ozzman! Scratch another one off the bucket list.
I want the shirt off his back!
Also, how could you miss my blanket?
date night.
I like this.
Re: Lowrie bunting for a hit up 7? It was the 1st inning & the Astros had a shift on. That’s fair game as far as I’m concerned.
2 things. if you’re gonna invoke the game’s good as over, don’t do nothin fancy, just play out the game rule, then you shouldn’t be shifting yourself. that’s a signal they’re still looking to outsmart you.
and second, funny how whenever these unwritten sportsmanship rules come out, it’s so often someone on the offended team who ends up looking like an immature, unsocialized child without the emotional wherewithal to engage in a meaningless communal competitive act (get
an orange wedgea coupla hundred thou win or lose), and be OK with it if things don’t go exactly his or her way.Yep. I said basically the same over here:
http://thebaseballcodes.com/2014/04/19/bo-knows-no-such-thing-as-too-early-when-it-comes-to-well-timed-bunts/
I hit the “watch it here link” the astros announcers don’t get it at all
You mean Kuiper?
i thought it was the astros guys
The only clip I saw was the 10-second one, which was from the A’s broadcast.
there was just a replay in detroit. By the time the umpires turned to go get head sets, the detroit broadcast had shown a definitive replay. It still took NY 45 seconds to reverse the call on the field.
That has got to change.
i might consider gettin cable if tom verducci was the A’s color guy
