So, this neighborhood where Rick and Carl (henceforth to be called Little Fuckface) ended up… remind you of the neighborhood where Rick exiled Carol? Think she might turn up?

Yeah, it’s apparently less than a day’s walk for a guy with a bum leg and broken ribs. Kind of surprising that it’s totally abandoned (so probably it’s not).

I’m amazed that they’re all apparently scattered to the winds. They had a plan to evacuate (the bus), but no plans on a place to meet up if they got separated?

Carl is in big trouble if Rick dies. Also, he probably used up half of their bullet supply in one day.

Though it was somewhat contrived, I was glad to finally get some of the Michonne backstory. I wonder if we’ll learn what went wrong at the camp that caused her to lose her son.

Yeah, Carl has gone back to being an idiot. I mean, I get that he’s upset about Judith and blames Rick. But damn, son. You’re no Darryl.

Nah. He’s a teenager. Moments of smart intermixed with moments of complete idiocy.

Wait, I was supposed to grow out of that?

I’m curious what you thought was contrived about it?

It was a dream sequence, the classic cheap narrative shortcut to fill in backstory. At least it wasn’t a montage set to 80’s music.

Having said that, it was nicely done, with the elements of the horrific present irresistibly intruding into her past.

My problem is that it’s appearing like Michonne went from soft, stereotypical woman to ass-kicking psycho pretty much overnight. I’d find it more believable if she had been, say, a martial arts instructor or something.

Nah. I don’t think it gave that impression. What occurred within the dream sequence, while quick in the dream, happened over a long period of time in real life.

I’ll grant you it’s cliche, but I don’t necessarily think it’s contrived to use a dream sequence to show what’s going on in a character’s head. After all it’s a visual media and showing her face react to what she’s thinking just ain’t gonna get it done.

This is my favorite recap so far FTR.

Poor Jennifer put so much work into her recaps. But once again, my laziness wins!

Michonne’s reaction to seeing she had found the guys was sweet. I thought when Rick said “It’s for you” it was because Michonne had retrieved Carl’s boot.

    There is always a score.

      That’s my assumption too.

The episode that aired last night, 3/16/14: Holy fucking shit! That is the kind of brutal human-on-human conflict that makes the Walking Dead so much more than just a gory zombie show. This half-season has been so damn good so far.

It’s what the second season could have been done. Major major character development work, but in a very interesting and forward moving way. And the scary thing is, there’s so much more to deal with that’s even more brutal and holy shittish than last night to come. In the comic, they had two twin boys who had been with them for the entire time and one ended up killing the other simply because he thought it would be fun, but it happened while the entire group was together. And no one was willing to do the dirty deed so Carl ended up handling while everyone slept. Something about the way the show handled it was just significantly more brutal while technically a lot less brutal as a shear visual. Even knowing it was coming it was still garnered an “OH SHIT.” Thankfully Carol stepped up and did what was horrifically necessary.

I want my family back together. Who took Beth?! Please don’t let Darryl go back to his old self. I miss Rick!
