Sunday, Ill be around and some people were talking about doing a repeat of the resoundingly successful brunch we did last time I was in town. Because of the closed bridge I am going to be coming to the EB instead of making you all schlep into the city. I know Witchy and slingers have game tickets so picking a location and time Ill leave up to other people. Unfortunately I have to fly back to helLA that night and cant fit in the full game, so brunch before. Much love.
Hope to see you all there.
DFA
Goddamn it, I will be away. I’ve been missin me some DFA. Rats.
me too. Wedding in Santa Cruz
West Side Club?
just tell us where and when. i think sslinger is the go to for the where, actually.
Have never tried brunch at District in Old Oakland but it’s a bottomless buffet with mimosas. Easy access to BART. There’s always dim sum in Chinatown too.
i like never-ending mimosas.
I just looked at the menu – $28 for all you can eat and bottomless mimosas. Not that bad when you consider ballpark pricing.
hmmm… i probably won’t eat anything, though.
Doesn’t start ’til 11:00, so we can’t linger tooooo long before getting to the game.
stupid 11.
Yeah, we’ll look for someplace else…
i like lots of booze. thank you.
The Express did this nice brunch flowchart. My result was Chop Bar. I haven’t been but I had catering from there and it was good.
chop bar is fun.
DFA won’t get the meatloaf. just sayin’.
But their pork chop is good. It is far more important to have good pork chop.
Chop Bar is fun. The same guy runs the Tribune Tavern, which we haven’t been to yet. They open for brunch at 10:30, so that’s an option.
10-10:30 is good, even though i hate myself for saying that.
I can do that from the city
Website says they open at 9 AM.
yeah, G and J make it right at 9.
heh. if i stay up all night, sure.
Ionno I’m pretty special. :-p
Which, Chop Bar or Trib Tavern?
Chop Bar. http://www.oaklandchopbar.com/contact-us/
Oh, I see what you meant. Tribune Tavern opens at 10:30.
Yeah, I wasn’t very clear. Trib tavern is much closer to BART so I was thinking easier.
cock-a-doodle’s pretty good and they open early. just spotty though. been there on a new-staff day and had a meh.
oh and rudy’s can’t fail is across the street from 19th st bart. and they put booze in the milkshakes.
gross. is there other booze?
full bar. standards and specialty drinks.
great news!
but how can you say no to: guinness stout, chocolate ice cream, and espresso (stop there for $6), add a shot of jamesons ($11)??
because then i am going to a baseball game all day. i need to be drunk, but not full.
“need.”
yes. i am bringing cheese and crackers. i want to eat those things as well.
that’s not what i was laughing about. (i’m going to a baseball game. i need to be drunk.)
i went to a raiders game once. i called my friend for advice the day before. he’s all, you can wear jeans, but that’s pretty much the only color that won’t get you killed. and as soon as you wake up, start drinking. i don’t remember the 4th.
i had to wear black a’s alts when i went to see my team play the raiders. it made me cry inside. it still does.
awww. sorry. baseball is much more forgiving that way. usually.
Yeah I could see Rudy’s Can’t Fail working. I’m used to going to the Emeryville one but this would be convenient. And they’re open early so we could go whenever.
For me its really about seeing you guys so just as long as its near Bart I’m not going to be particular
Oakland Pride is happening that day at 20th and Broadway so it could be a bit crowded.
Good catch!
our last-minute, camping trip cancelled due to smoke, let’s try to get an airBnB, just confirmed. this means we’re out of town this weekend. otherwise would have loved to join. have fun!
Already have brunch plans but will be at game in Section 107.
If there’s an opportunity to meet anyone, it would be great to put faces to screen names.
Speaking of food:
http://www.visualnews.com/2013/08/27/national-flags-created-foods-country-commonly-associated/
love that ours includes the phrase “mustard or cheese”
The Vietnamese and Brazilian ones are especially pretty with the fruit.
Jesa/slinger one of you should make an executive decision on location :-)
let C do it. i have never been to any of these places. :)
We have a rez for 6 at the Tribune Tavern at 10:30. It’s at 13th and Franklin so just a block from the 12th/City Center BART station. If other people want to pile on we can probably squeeze in some more.
awesomesauce. we will see you then!
yay!
I was thinking a few minutes ago, two FKers know my brother IRL, but PDX and bed have met no one.
Some people make poor life decisions to not come to tailgates
Some people make poor life decisions to live surrounded by Red Sox fans.
exactly,
I have met colin, jamesv, and, now, sslinger. I also have met ptbnl’s beer. He was a friendly sort, easy-going, but didn’t stick around long enough to know him well.
Sorry I can’t make it, but see you next time!
this is what you said last time!… the lies the lies, im just going to curl up in the fetal position and cry now
but seriously especially with the bridge closed no hard feelings
Oh no! This is a thing that is happening in a short number of hours. I’ll see if I can get my shit together in time tomorrow, but no promises unfortunately.
Alright. I’m mostly awake and on my way. See you soon!
i feel kind of ick but i’m out of bed and i’ve taken a shower, so we will see you soon.
that was fun, even though it was an insane comedy of strangeness. xoxo
Hilarious, never to be forgotten. Loved seeing all of you.
What a comedy of errors, but I got to see some of my favorite people, have excellent conversation and the A’s picked up a game in the standings, so YAY. Thanks to the slingers the witch and g, and Dial C for coming out
Great to see you as always (and the rest of the wonderful crew of course).
I was out of town, both when this was posted and when it happened. Sorry I missed you.
me too
