NOTHING HAS CHANGED.
You’re in Europe, right? So not going to Snowmass?
Yes in Europe, no to Snowmass – in part because of DOE conference attendance rules.
Huh. Is that because Snowmass is basically figuring out what to lobby DoE for?
No – because any one institution can’t have more than X attendees at and/or spend more than Y dollars ($100K I think) on a conference now without special dispensation.

Hmmm.
Bloomy.
I feel like I need a trail of breadcrumbs to be a member of this site.
Who bought freekraut.com? It’s redirecting to the “old” freekraut.net and should redirect here once nm finishes that part of it.
I didn’t buy it. And if it’s set up to just redirect to freekraut.net it’ll work fine in a couple days.
Otherwise it’ll be this year’s surprise for Bed.
Bwhahaha!
I’m getting unread comments that I have read. Looks like all the ones that I read in the past day or so. Only issue I’ve seen.
Thanks for doing this nm!
That should clear up as you visit. If it isn’t updating properly after your first visit let me know.
(the issue is that I copied that db over last night when I thought I could get it done then.
Win, FKers.
BOOBIES
I was expecting your next comment to be at the wrong site.
Just FYI, for convenience I updated the old site post so there is a clickable link to the new one.
Seems like some of the avatars aren’t displaying correctly (at least on my computer). No idea if that falls into technical issue, me issue, or temporary issue though.
I’m seeing that too – you, JamesV, doctorK, 5aces, FSU, Thunderbutt, etc.
Hmmm… I’ll look into it.
Fixed.
Old cache of avatars wasn’t uploaded. Whoopsie
SAME AS THE OLD SITE
Best wishes, and go A’s!
Love the new site smell.
although it is also tempting to go back and make some last comments that wont be there shortly.
I may vomit; the Giants presser is on the big screen in our newsroom. OH, thank God, it’s over.
What were they pressing?
They were at the White House. PBO got off a few good jokes, like the center field bleachers are being remade into MLB’s first in-stadium edible gardens, and Bruce Bochy is a great manager.
Oh right. That. I was hoping Obama would break out a Fred Willard impression and just turn to Bochy and say WHA’ HAPPENED?!
I wonder what kind of White House appearance the A’s would put on if they won the World Series. I imagine there would have to be pie.
I was trying to find pictures of the Swingin’ A’s chilling with Dick Nixon, but came up empty. Does anyone know whether such a visit ever happened?
That’s an excellent question. How long have they been doing this kind of thing, anyway?
It’s been done since the 19th century, but really began in earnest with Ronaldus Magnus.
Also, the Merky News just redesigned their web site, and the new version sucks flaming donkey testicles.
Ah, the good ol’ San Jose Mercurial.
It’s still laden with crappy pop-up ads I see. Good to know some things never change.
The ’71 team visited Nixon just ‘cos.
Sal Bando asked him if his newly-announced economic polices meant that Finley didn’t have to give them a raise next year!
Nixon then wanted to call in pitches to Catfish.
That is so great. Only Charlie Finley could make Nixon look like a man of the people.
Incidentally, the A’s lost to the Senators that night at RFK 8-1.

Whatever it was, I’m sure it was at the plate
Ok, just checking in. No trades yet, I gather.
Well, the Angels traded Downs to the Braves.
Sorry kid. Skipper wants to see you in his office…
Thanks, nm!
I was afraid this was the result of another Krautgate.
Speed is much improved here.
Good! It should be a much more reliable/faster host. Time will tell.
Change frightens and confuses me.
I’m still seeing Unread Comments hanging on …loading… in Chrome. Recently I’ve used Firefox to view FK; it’s not an issue there.
consistently, or only sometimes? It works fine on my chrome.
Pretty consistently, and it seems like it happens after I’ve been on for a few minutes and clicked on several threads. Then once it locks up like that I have to exit the browser to get it going again.
Odd. I’ll look into it.
I haven’t had that problem on chromium.
Hey buddy, sorry I missed your brunch, it was my anniversary.
Its ok ill be back in three weeks. Not for good. But for a week.
Woo, oh wait I’ll be in HI. :(
come to LA… actually don’t it kinda sucks here.
Everyone just drive half way and meet in the ‘no!
And you think LA is bad?
hahahahaha I am going to be in fresno in a bit actually
Well you know the drill. Email, FB, beer if youre up to it, etc…
its going to be for work, but will try to cordinate.
Understood, and I know the feeling of wanting out of here, so no worries either way.
all im am saying is no promises
but that i will try.
I just hate being flake
is this message on my dashboard actually meant for me?
No.
It’s meant for me. I need to play with that.
‘k. good, because i had no idea how to do that.
If you are within an hour of the Coliseum and you have the price of a ticket, please get on over here. It’s FKing deserted. (And FKing freezing too.)
You should be marketing the team. Nobody’s at the game, and it’s freezing cold!
This is quite tempting, because I hear that and think good, cheap seats are available. But my wife wants me home tonight.
One of the best parts of the game Friday was getting to be cold for a couple of hours.
Wish I could but my gf is making blue cheese biscuits from scratch!
Sounds like my kinda game! A whole section of cave seats to myself…
Too bad I’m 2 hours away… :(
Sadly, not within an hour, with traffic (and only maybe barely with no traffic). I’ll be there Wednesday!
anyone else with new comment issues? 842 pdt
Only the first page views or so.
widget won’t load periodically.
I’m hoping to find time to really dig into the widget’s guts this weekend. I’m hoping there’s a code update that with fix all of these issues.
Wow, Coco!
dr k in the house!
Futzing with twitter oEmbeds. Disregard this comment.
Yeah, you just killed the whole thing for a minute or so.
Yikes. That shouldn’t have happened.
Throwing in the towel on this one. It’s natively supported in newer versions of WP, so I think I’m best served by trying to update us once version 3.6 releases (any day now).
3.6 is out. Hope to be able to upgrade soon, as along with technical benefits it will fix our twitter embed problem.
Geez, I come up for a brief midweek breath of internet, and you guys move on me.
i don’t know how to start a thread even in the best of times. Here is Abraham. He had his first vet visit today and they shoved a pill down his throat. He still had love for them. They all talked about how sweet he is-

Are things slower tonight or is … it … just … me?
Seems slow to me too.
Super sluggish – both in terms of server response time and posting frequency.
Sometime last night I started noticing some site slowdown along with the unread comments widget not always loading until I refreshed the site. It’s still going on for me. Firefox here.
Bed says it’s happening in Chrome too.
Very slow.

It’s not you. Or people hate kittens now.
Night after a day game things get slow – but that’s one cute kitten.
Thanks, ptbnl. It wasn’t easy to get another cat, but I’m glad I did.
Extremely slow today. This page for example took >
1530 sec to loadAnd the above comment took 7 seconds to submit
It’s been getting slower and slower for the last 12 hours … maybe a database problem? I can’t imagine the host is throttling our level of use.
That would be rather strange. Normally, such decrease in performance related to DB comes from large amounts of data being inserted into non-indexed tables that are then being searched on. But we have poor performance on all – reads, writes and updates.
In my expert opinion it’s all Josh Reddick’s fault.
Checking into it.
The search fucntion isn’t working.

WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!
Bizarre. It just worked for me. I wonder if the host is having some sort of issue.
had the same issue at the time of the posting, works fine for me now
Works for me now.
Open the pod bay doors, Free Kraut.
When this shit gets fixed, we’re gonna have a new tagline.
Unread comments isn’t working.
Thanks, and go As.
Everything’s broken and nothing’s okay!
(I’m also experiencing slow loading times and an iffy unread comments widget. Haven’t tried searching)
Performance issues weren’t the DB. It may have been that our caching plugin got muddled in the move (which hopefully I’ve now straightened out).
Hopefully things get their act together quickly.
Something seems better so far.
Or not. That reply took about 20 seconds to process.
This page just loaded fast.
Comments still seem to process slowly.
Site hung for a couple minutes then gave me a blank page. Refreshed and this post loaded.
That’s it from me for now – I’m out for the day.
10 seconds for the latest one.
Things seem faster again. Testing comment time
That was very slow.
Sites running better but the new comments aren’t loading.
In addition to extreme slow loads, I cannot approve SamYam’s pending comment. I hit the Approve button and on that screen it appears to work because the shading disappears and that button switches over to Unapprove. But it doesn’t actually post and it’s still sitting there as a pending comment.
Working on SamYam. Also working with a tech at the host to figure out why our site isn’t playing nicely.
My comments are still spinning in place then failing a good half of the time.
Some observations and average times from today (tested on FF, IE & Chrome):
Site load: ~25-30 seconds
Post load: ~35-70 seconds (seems bigger on posts with more comments, the 1 minute+ times are from the 600 comment lounge).
Comment submitting: ~40 seconds
Reaching the comment edit page: ~25-35 seconds
Updating the comment after editing: ~80 seconds
Unread comments widget displaying correctly: ~1/20
Yeah, it’s pretty bad right now. Hopefully NM can get some answers.
How is the site running on Netscape?
We should test it in AOL’s browser first.
Ick. Seems like it’s getting progressively worse.
I’m hoping I can clean the code up significantly today (with an upgrade to 3.6) and the host can help me figure out the rest of it.
Good luck and thanks a ton
By the way, if you want to see how it is going, the sandbox is at http://freekraut.net.v3.cloudsites.gearhost.com/FK_Testing/.
Fair warning that it may well fail on you (or otherwise eff up) and that it’s a long way from fully functional.
Got this
After logging in. Sure you have a bunch of them, but perhaps it helps some
Yeah. In active development so I’m still working on putting the pieces together. It’s loading now, but I’m working on actually marking comments unread.
Temporary game thread at the old place, if anyone’s around.
Site and page BOTH loaded in <7 seconds on Safari on an ancient iMac
Comment posted in <3 secs
Site loaded again in <5 secs
Low traffic time, or are we maybe fixed?
Hoping we are fixed. It’s some issue with how wordpress talks to their DB, hopefully we can iron out, since this is a very well reviewed host generally.
And WP is kind of, you know, common these days.
Yeah. It’s not that the host can’t run WP. Don’t really understand the issue, but we do seem to be making progress
It’s world’s better today.
Sure is, thanks NM!
Testing.
That posted immediately.
Working for me too.
The pod bay doors are open.
Is this the real site?
Is it just fantasy?
Hmm…most of my fantasies don’t involve Adam Rosales.
well, he’s no aldo nova.
(sorry.)
Yes. Hopefully this recent change fixes it.
And the DNS change should take effect soon too?
I haven’t made the nameserver switch because I’m not 100% sure this fix will hold. But the registration transfer (to a third party, not a host) completed yesterday so I can do it when we are locked in here.
Working great right now
In the nick of time, too. A Buck-McCarver game would have me throwing stuff at the TV, but now I know I can vent on the keyboard instead.
But, is it free?
You have to have the coupon and membership card. But then, yes; yes it is.
Also,
I’ve got the new style on the test site to about where I’m happy with it. I put up a post there that lists the functionality I’m still working on and gives intrepid sandbox explorers a place to tell me what’s ugly/wrong about the new layout.
One advantage is that it is advertised as being able to show up cleanly on mobile devices, so that’d be a thing to check too.
Look very narrow.
In what sense?
On a wide screen it looks like it fits on only half the screen.
Yep.
Hmmm…
How wide?
Like this.
Got it, thanks.
I’ll have to play with the CSS to see if I FKed things up by giving the banner a max-width
Let me know if you want any more screenshots sometime.
Width should be fixed. Let me know.
It fills the screen now.
In a good way, or too much? I can increase the margin percentage.
I’d probably give it a small amount of blank space to either side, not much though. I can’t see anything on that link now but it did seem to go straight to the edges.
Much better. Perhaps just a hair too much. Maybe bring it in about 25-50 on each side.
That’s in Firefox.
I left some comments over there earlier.
got ’em, thanks
Game thread, anyone?
Today’s game thread ran flawlessly.
Matt Garza thought are thread sucked!
or our thread…no matter the grammar he thought it sucked.
Comments thingie isn’t loading for me again.
and now they’re working…perhaps I prematurely eja…uh, posted.
Premature? No! Wise! Wise, learned etc. and so forth…!
i’m getting an endless comments “…loading…” on chrome from time to time…
xoxo
I’m on Chrome and it’s been doing that for me from time to time too.
glad i am not totally alone. we are on a special island.
I guess it was halving problems for everyone until this afternoon…it seems like it’s getting back to normal.
so we are the half that it sucks for?
Yep…oh how we suffer.
we do, we do
I have no idea why that code isn’t working for everyone. I don’t see any issues in it but I’ll circle back once I have the big stuff working.
no worries, nm. thank you for all you do for us. it is so very much appreciated. <3
The last couple of hours it’s been working great.
Apparently it was a specific server in their cloud that didn’t play nicely with us. IT is working on setting up a rule to prevent us from getting load-balanced back onto it. Until then, there’s a risk we get messed up again.
Well, hopefully it’ll all work out. I won’t pretend to understand how any of this stuff works but we’re all happy you do.
this.
NM signal: it may just be the tablet, but in my GT from today, any time I try to repky to the very bottom thread (Sogards tweet from bowling and the replies after) it wont open and crashes the browser. At the bottom of the kust since it only seems to be right there, but FYI…
Bizarre. I think I’m going to let that one slide in favor of getting the major upgrade out. Hopefully the new code won’t choke there.
Stable, functional version of new design is up here: http://freekraut.net.v3.cloudsites.gearhost.com/FK_Testing/
Please feel free to comment here or there if you want tweaks. I need to figure out the quicktags, and decide about Andy’s category-menu point. Also, unread comments are in testing, so the widget will never acknowledge that you read anything. That’s intentional.
Nice
looks pretty fresh. i like it.
i think perhaps some tweaking of the comments space will help us read them more fluidly. my biggest suggestion is to make the signatures grayed out. as is, the signature really looks like the last line of a comment, just ital because the commenter really wants you to pay attention. itals like you’re doing is cool. personally, i’d go triple whammy on the sigs: ital, gray, and slightly smaller font size. but if i had to pick just one, the gray.
(this goes for the current site too, but i never said anything, which also means i’ve learned to live with it, so whatevs if it doesn’t change, but…) the green line surrounding a comment you’re reading always looked too prominent and too close to the text i’m reading, especially left side. as a general rule, i don’t like things touching my text when i’m reading it any more than i like things touching my food when i’m eating it. it’s the same sort of feeling anyway, like out of the corner of my eye i see something encroaching and it distracts from what i’m focusing on.
same vane, minor-er detail, some comments seem to have a nice bit of space after the last sentence and before the bottom line of the speech bubble. some comments seem to rest right on that bottom line. i like the space ones.
entirely about tastes, and merely an opinion, the headline font is perfectly OK and serviceable and if everybody likes it i’m down too, but just as a matter of what does this font say to me via intangible unexplainables? this font says to me german toothpaste… so i wasn’t surprised when i found out its name. i wonder if you’d consider pathway gothic one instead? seems to have a similar profile while keeping baseball in america where it belongs.
So you are against international baseball?
meh. it’ll never catch on…
kidding!
ok, chores done. time for a decent response. i love int’l baseball so much i want it to look its best by harkening to tradition via fonts that, although not necessarily historically accurate to call them american, do have a lot of americaneity to them, circularily enough, because they’re identifiable with baseball. and it seems baseball has a relationship to maintain with type treatments. i can’t think of another sport so closely associated with lettering as baseball with that angled script with the fat triangular swash. so fonts that are so 21st century seem more apt for new product labeling than baseball teams and the first reaction i get is, are they working on the re-design yet because that’s going to be dated in 3… 2… yesterday. in other words, typographically speaking, be more like squadra italia than (speaking of toothpaste labeling — it that S made with MFP fluoride?) team usa.
nice, very eloquent
what’s the opposite of irony? the one where the result is exactly as expected even though nobody involved thought to predict it…?
i followed the rabbit hole on that font i said was more american in flavor. turns out the designer is from… (i’m not particularly wowed though.)
american, indeed
No, american is to predict exactly what someone expects to happen after it happens. Then make an ass out of one’s self in celebration including, but not restricted to taking one’s shirt off and yelling quite loudly.
i KNEW you were going to say that!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
i know. the first time in a long time i used american to mean the country (and i did it with some hesitation too) and this is how i get burned.
but it makes total sense. these are american fonts even though they were first drawn in england because they classify as gothic, since they’re neither roman nor greek, even though in europe gothic means blackletter and gothics are called grotesque.
Hey I was wondering if there were some fonts that I should be consistently using for my printed fliers that are something like H1 H2 Text1 Text2. I know thats kinda broad.
that’s ok. the answer is kinda broad too: yes.
but if you’re asking me which fonts, i can’t really answer that without looking at your union’s identity and some previous flyers.
The union has no identity. This is the problem.
These are two fliers that I made. I really like the flier that I call “Lawyer Costs What?” from a design perspective, but even though I am paid I am merely an amatuer at this shit.
You might want to buy a Spanish dictionary, too.
I didn’t do the spanish translation.
The organizing director who is Salvi did. I dislike him and think that his writing skills suck in both languages, that being said, there are a lot of our workers who are just barely literate, so hopefully his shit checks out.
You think correctly.
La Lavanderia de Magic is Magic Laundry Services which is a proper name.
Ah, OK. Still lavanderÃa is properly written with an accent, but I guess nothing to do there.
Im learning Spanish as fast as I can. Im really trying but this shit is hard.
Also I feel like a monolingual white boy moron lots.
I think it is harder for native English speakers, because you can use English most everywhere. And especially in the US, you can literally drive for days and still be in the area where everybody’s native tongue is English.
If I’m not mistaken — with exception of Spanish — one is hardly confronted with other languages in the mainstream TV, radio and cinema, making it even harder to easily enter into the nuances of language.
Best advice is probably just to not care about the mistakes you make in the beginning and keep at it. If you primarily want to use it to communicate in a colloquial manner, then the above level is more than fine.
@DFA
You should try studying for a real estate license in little over a month. There’s so much shit that’s hard to retain, especially after not taking any kind of courses in about 15 years.
But yeah…. ugg.
Small suggestion – have the text proofread.
They were both proof read by other people.
Actually this was the preproofed version that i converted.
Ahhh. Gotcha.
i like the first one. does need tightening in the details, but it’s pretty good use of the space. um… i don’t know what to tell you other than encourage the first one and suggest that you pick 2 fonts, one for blurbs and one for headers, and use them always.
i might pick the bold version of your logo font (though i cant’ totally identify it from here) for headlines only. that’d compliment the logo but being bold, it won’t be confused with the logo. or, these days, you can’t go wrong with bold
obamagotham bold for headers, and regular for text.but frankly, it’s not like your font choice was horrible in the first place. you just need to nuance it into shape and proportion to make it look “designed.” (less leading here, more leading there; get the text to fill the box leaving equal amounts of space to the frame on all 4 sides… that kind of thing.) but really, you need to devote your time to doing the work you do and not to learning the nuance of type setting.
—
but yes, MORE importantly:
¿Cuántas horas tiene que trabajar usted para
hacerganar esta cantidad?Si usted cree que Magic deberÃa gastar el dinero en usted, llame Mauricio…
Thanks. Happy to implement all of these I can. The font came pre-selected by the theme writer, so no objection whatsoever to changing it.
wingdings.
Thanks, and go As.
comic sans or papyrus
you spelled “and” wrong.
lol
Login doesn’t log in right now. But, simple pasting of Tweet address embeds now.
THIS REDESIGN IS JUST FOR THE AD REVENUE
…erm, sorry, knee-jerk reaction. I really like the new look, and I agree with a lot of what AV said regarding some of the comment box design stuff (look of sigs, green box around current comments).
i’m not too vain to think you would have chosen vein where i said vane.
Depends which way the wind blows.
get in the vane
EA Jorts?
It’s in the lame!
But then you might think that comment was about you.
If we can get the right hand side bar to have less width I would appreciate that.
So the way the layout works is that you get 12 column grids total. Right now I have it 9 for main and 3 for the side bar. I’ve set up 10/2 on the taglines page and can switch the whole site to that layout if people prefer. Looks too thin to me on my system, but nothing I wouldn’t get used to if it’s better globally.
Personally I prefer the 9/3 look. I’m usually viewing on a 21″ monitor and I feel like I’d wear out my arm moving the cursor over to the right sidebar if it were 10/2.
Yeah, it does look thin.
Keep 9/3.
I usually use small screens on a laptop. I prefer the smaller.
I likey, other than the comments being marked unread after posting a new comment or replying to an existing one.
Yeah. That’s a must-fix before going live.
didn’t realize people were over there commenting on design. but i can’t log in. prolly cause i change my pass every day and that site might not have realized. (don’t worry about that. i’ll wait till we’re really there to get that pass correct.)
so about the headline fonts, i meant all the headlines, wherever yanone kaffeesatz is used, switch to pathway gothic one. i thought that since you’re using a theme, that it’d be a one click operation (some themes just do a single headline font option, you tell it which you want, and it figures out how to size it differently for H1, H2, H3 etc.). but i see you changed just the site title’s font and not the others. so if it’s at all complicated to change the font, nevermind really. and i’d revert the site title to match the header font. but if if you have control enough to change the font name in CSS or the theme’s options, and it’s easy, that’s what i was talkin’ about.
but overall, it looks great. thanks for taking my other suggestions into account. i like the space. the signature is perfect. i particularly like the happy accident occurring when the green line gets broken by the beak of the speech bubble. ed’s avatar is rad in a circle.
It should have changed for everything, though it is not a one-click thing unfortunately. I don’t have an eye for this stuff, and just didn’t notice that I missed that one. Fixed now.
Thanks. I think it’s a big upgrade, especially since it is a fully responsive design which (although I don’t have the iPhone to test on) should mean that it translates to mobile much better.
i sorta can’t wait to go over there…
no pressure!
widgit not working yesterday. looks fine today. But nobody is making comments so I can check.
i am not able to use the sandbox
It does take time to train the kitten properly sometimes.
…wait.
At all? What’s it doing?
(and I know the unread comments isn’t going to work totally as expected, but it should work properly in the “Design Comments” post)
This is a comment.
A bold statement, indeed.
comment ça va…
This is not a comment.
comment ça vient…
o_O
I’ve read this whole thread and have no idea where the FK I should be.
You are fine right here
I guess that’s what happens when we don’t have a “there” here
This is going to be the main site (and freekraut.net will point to it once I get the thumbs up from GearHost IT that problems are permanently resolved). The link above is just so people can test the new layout on their systems and make tweaks/suggestions.
Host confirmed that performance fix is permanent.
Nameservers updated, so once that percolates through the interwebs freekraut.net will point here.
On my computer, at least, freekraut.net now points here.
European DNS lagging
No worries. I’ll wait until I hear from you to reset the site info so we can really use this as freekraut.net
mine goes to the old site
I’ll wait until I hear from you to reset the site info so we can really use this as freekraut.net
new site now
I’m also getting the new site now.
me three
me four
This.
But logging in redirects to the gearhost version of the address.
Yes.
Right. Unfortunately WP forces a redirect to the “site URL” which is just a DB entry.
If I change it to freekraut.net and not everyone can get here with that URL, they’re effectively stuck on the old site.
FYI, the basic freekraut.net site currently wants to force a login regardless, so I guess that’s probably still in the process of being updated.
Right. I need to change that value so that the login page pushes you to freekraut.net instead of the messy URL. I just can’t do that until everyone’s freekraut.net points where it should.
a sec ago it did that but now i’m pointed at the new site.
Mine goes to a DNS Resolution error.
Ctrl+F5
Also Start -> Run -> “ipconfig /flushdns”
I’ve had to do that a lot since getting my new laptop a few months ago because of some issue with sites running Cloudflare. Every so often the sites using them would simply stop loading completely or at all and they wouldn’t time out, either.
Never could track down what caused it, even after extensive Google searches. ISP said they wouldn’t try to help unless I paid for it. Router manufacturer couldn’t or wouldn’t tell me a thing. Cloudflare themselves normally don’t help non-customers but they gave me the advice to use Open DNS first, which worked briefly, then when the same stuff started happening I was flushing the DNS almost daily.
The ISP recently sent me a new modem as part of their overall customer upgrades and it’s also got its own wireless connection. I started out having trouble getting it to run through my normal router but I can connect directly to the modem itself now and for the most part, things have been running smoothly with the Cloudflare issue as well. I still flush the DNS when I need to.
I’m pretty sure it was caused by some combination of a Win8 conflict with my router settings, but I might never know for sure.
Charter is bringing me to the new site now.
I get a DNS resolution error when I try “freekraut.net” now.
Same.
Still? And did you try e/c and my suggestions above?
Works for me now. No flushing needed.
If you open the window for a while, the odor just disappears by itself
It’s random. Sometimes it does it. Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 refreshes before it kicks in.
I think everyone’s comments are addressed except the focus on reply box (and related tab-enter). I’m also trying to find an AJAX comment plugin that doesn’t reload the page/refresh the unread comments.
New FK makes me log in each time I visit.
See a bit above.
Damn. I read that but somehow forgot.
good work on the white sox.
i want rodriguez to homer 3 times
I just want him to go away…I’m tired of all his drama.
URL is reset. Just go back to using freekraut.net.
Also, it’s going to force everyone to log in.
Huzzah! Thanks nevermoor!
All’s good here so far.
Do you mean login every time? Because that is what I’m finding and was curious if there was a trick to it.
Thanks for everything!!
No, it should work as normal, as long as you’re pointing to freekraut.net
FYI, when using Safari browser on Mac (not my usual) I am still asked to re-log in each time after quitting browser. Problem does not exist on Firefox for Mac.
I’m having this issue on firefox.
Still? Maybe purge your cookies, make sure browser is set to accept future cookies (at least from this site), then log in and see if it sticks. I say this as one who is decidedly unqualified to advise on computer issues.
I just tried the cookies thing and I’m still having this issue in firefox. Anyone else having this issue?
Are you guys pointing towards freekraut.net or the old long url? If the former, you should be fine. If the long one, that’s your problem.
I’m using freekraut.net and I did the cookie thing again and it is still kicking me out each time I close the window.
And you checked the “remember me” button when you logged in?
(I know these are stupid questions, just need to ask)
Yes–I did click remember me. And I even double tested it now to be sure I wasn’t crazy about having checked it! (Never hurts to ask!)
It has to be a cookie issue, then.
Does your browser create cookies when you log in? (how to check)
It does seem to create cookies–when I look at the list of cookies under privacy, freekraut does appear in the list. There seem to be 9 cookies listed in the freekraut cookie folder.
Try deleting all the freekraut cookies, then close the browser and re-try logging onto the site.
I did that–I deleted all of my cookies for all sites and then shut down and re-logged in and still having the same issue.
Is anyone else having a problem with loading the dashboard and the new post screen?
Yes, now that you mention it. Fails to load (IE/Windows)
It just hangs there for me in Firefox.
Fails to load for me in Linux Epiphany and Linux Chrome
All the editing functions are dead.
that’s my dude jory!
Nice cover
avoiding misconceptions… i didn’t have anything to do with the book myself. i just know the guys who did it. worked with jory for 5 years. funny guy.
That’s what I thought. He is the illustrator, right?
avery drew that book. but they’re both funny and they both do graphics, and i don’t know how they split their task. i like this one.

Love it
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
We just had a pretty nasty 502 error issue. Working to resolve.
I was lost and alone.
Me too.
Looks like the dashboard and editing is functional again.
Group hug?
Well, that was fun.
WE’RE ALL GONNA…oh wait, it’s OK now.
…hafta watch a Broncos-49ers exhibition game instead of screwing around on FK.
I would rather have a root canal without anesthesia than watch a Broncos v Niners pre-season game.
I flipped in on long enough to notice that Colt McCoy is a prospective 49er backup. Football starts with Northwestern-Cal on Labor Day weekend.
I saw a billboard driving home today that advertised $19 tickets for that game. “While supplies last.”
so…forever?
I’m not looking for more than 4-8 out of the Golden Bears this year. The Ohio State game has been on the schedule for several years, but this turns out to be a bad choice.
Who wins more games, Cal or Raiders? Not an easy pick.
Head to head series?
Cal
I would rather watch that root canal than a pre-season game.
That little button that appears and says “click here for free tacos” doesn’t work for me anymore
?
Also, I stopped getting $5 transferred to my account every time I login
Your credit card expired. Just reenter it and I’ll re-enable that function (low low $15 processing fee)
(you missed the third “low”) ;)
plus it’s a convenience fee
your fee is so convenient to me.
I paid the printing fee on a PDF file once
Don’t forget the processing fee too.
