The long promised host upgrade will soon be upon us. I’m setting things up now, and will try to repoint the URL after today’s game so it doesn’t mess up the game thread action.

Hopefully it’ll solve recurring issues like the Unread Comments thing breaking (and make for much faster load times). It isn’t even going to be that much more expensive, though I will take people up on offers to pitch in small amounts (we are using GearHost, so the annual total is $108 plus whatever they charge to register freekraut.net). I definitely don’t need to collect all of that (and I’m already well on my way given some generous contributions back when I promised to do this and then flaked however many months ago).

      Can never be too exact, since it will take time for changes to the nameserver information to make their way out into the internet.

      Assuming I can get everything set up on that side, my plan is to pull the trigger pretty quickly after the game.

      My friends dragged me to that the other day. The only thing worth watching in Pacific Rim is giant robots fighting giant monsters. Luckily that’s most of the movie.

                I heard its seriously cornball, but once you embrace the cheese it’s a very fun ride.

    So we are up and running on our new host (proof: http://freekraut.net.v3.cloudsites.gearhost.com). Note that if you log in there it just sends you back here automatically.

    Here’s the plan: I am going to lock the comment DB, copy it over, hope that works, and repoint the URL, which means FK is dead until the copying succeeds and the pointer resolves. Hopefully that’ll be soon.
