If this were the NBA, it would be the last day.
Also, it sounds like the Coco lean brought the boys and girls to the yard

Crisp, Smith, Lowrie, Cespedes, Moss, Donaldson, Reddick, Sogard, Norris
Ken just said one of our founding fathers is in center.
The Federalist!
The Cocolean’s bobble is better than yours…
Does any of it actually bobble?
Glen and Ray actually had a detailed discussion about this. Siunds like the upper body bobbles, giving it the look of a Bernie lean.
There was an animated example posted somewhere…
It looks more like Eric Chavez than Coco.
Not Coco enough.
I want.
Parker looking pretty good. Getting ahead of hitters, finishing them with the changeup.
the Holliday booing was epic
It sounded like there was a “Holliday sucks” chant while the A’s were batting in the first.
he has to be confused by it. He didn’t play badly in oakland. he didn’t snub the team in any way.
It must keep him up at night
But he was the scapegoat. It isnt right, but he was supposed to put the whole team on his back and take us to the promised land.
And he didnt smile…
Oh, I would boo. Its just funny.
Plus we turned Carlos gonzalez into Michael taylor because of him
We have the River Cats all time hit leader because of him!
He was horrible for the first month, then decent for a while, then got traded as soon as he started to really heat up. I don’t have any ill will, but he was definitely disappointing.
Epic game in that twims comeback.
Cuddyer was out, right?
Yep. He didn’t Damon us, but he sure didn’t Dye us either
Why was Glen concerned about Rangers fan watching the local A’s broadcast of an A’s v Cardinals game?
Looks like Parker cramped up?
FUUUUU Parker looked like he was shot.
That’s what I thought for a second, especially because there was a security guard on the field looking into the stands as if trying to find the source.
Fosse: “Cardinals fans..maybe A’s fans in Cardinals jerseys applauding.” What?
I was going to say that has to be one of the most idiotic things Ive ever heard.
It’s hard to describe how mind-bogglingly stupid that was.
Taking Parker out is the best thing, whether as a precaution or because the injury is bad enough.
JCS vs one of the best teams in the NL…just like we wrote it up.
Don’t worry. He’s got this shit.
Stop..when I have expectations for him it doesnt work.
Jesse Chavez is going to strike out Matt Holliday…right?
Almost struck him out. At least Chavez got Holliday to chase some low stuff.
Injury probably not serious, but that’s the best he’s looked all year, too bad….
Yep.
Patriotic themed music, means John Philip Sousa, mother fuckers.
Not Neil Diamond?
And to be serious, yes..the Sousa playlists are moving up starting this weekend at Casa de Aces.
Ok, I missed it. What happened to Parker? How bad might it be?
Leg injury. Amputation is tomorrow.
Can we send Braden to stand in?
Too bad hitting all of the batter, catcher, and umpire doesn’t count as a strike.
He forgot to call the shot first.
Chavez is not Parker enough
Bummer. If the throw was on-line, that guy was dead.
I thought the rule was if you don’t slide, you are out?
You think they’ve got a blimp today? The multiple overhead shots each inning are kind of a giveaway.
It was the one decorated as a minion from Despicable Me.
How doon before Straily can be called up?
Poor throw.
I think the A’s have fallen too far behind Wainright. Too bad Chavez got squeezed on the leadoff walk, then hit the next guy. The Cardinals win games for a reason.
its 10 days isn’t it?
I think if someone goes on the DL it can be anytime.
Bigger question is do we want it to be him? Or is it the beginning os Gray days?
That sounds right. I don’t know if that’s in time to take Parker’s spot, if that is necessary or just advisable.
Parker’s spot will come up on the 4th, which would just work (down from June 24-July 3 is 10 days) even without a DL move. I’d kind of like to see Gray, though Straily again would also be ok.
I dont think he needs the extra day of rest, but I wouldnt mind getting Straily or Gray up here earlier and having Colon pitch on the 4th.
I didn’t see the broadcast, but the video makes it look more cramp-y than pull-y or strain-y to me. I’d guess he’ll be OK.
Melvin is trying too hard to win this game. I don’t see the point of burning through good relievers today, but I guess Bob is showing faith in his team.
Assuming, of course, that “good” refers to JCS and Twiggy.
And I wonder if, after 2 not great outings, if it will be time to do the Scribbles JCS switch.
Good refers to Twiggy, although he wasn’t good.
I prefer Skinny, like an old cowboy sidekick. Lately Melvin’s been using Skinny in some less impactful situations, Blevins may have slid some in his estimation.
I think you mean Slim.
Slim is overused. I mean Skinny.
After his dramatic mysterious loss of bulk in the mid-2000s I did start using the nickname “Slim” Rodriguez for our old catcher rival.
this is a 2010 big crowd game
At least this is freeing up the rest of my afternoon.
Normally I would think about going and enjoying a beautiful Saturday. But its like 110 friggin degrees.
Thankfully, it’s nice and cool here in Sunnyvale, where it’s a nice, comfortable 96.
I waited too long to see The Great Gatsby, about which I am curious. But I would have to drive 19 miles. We will have to find another option.
Cespedes had a less than zero chance of doing anything with that pitch. He’s not making anywhere near the same adjustments he did last season.
So frustrating.
And why I’m so hesitant to support breaking the bank to try keeping him around, before (haha) or during his free agent period. Exciting as he is, he won’t be worth it if he doesn’t show more of an ability to do more than just capitalize on bad pitches.
Isn’t this all an interesting but irrelvant discussion? The A’s won’t sign Cespedes for anywhere close to what he wants, whether he’s worth it or not.
Yes.
Oh, it’s more to do with some people who think the A’s should just throw ungodly sums of money at him right now to get him to bypass his free agency period.
Yeah, ken, I don’t really remember the 31 A’s because they lost the world series. that is exactly why I don’t remember they won 106 games.
So, I guess Adam Wainwright is pretty good.
That was fast.
For Milo’s birthday we put baseball cards in the gift bags. We ran out of packs so the only option were these grab bag type thing at wallgreens. they had all sorts of Topps from the 80s and 90s and 2000s. nothing good.
But I did score a Bill Pecota and a Mike Witt (who came to a baseball practice of mine when I was 12 and threw batting practice to us, 2 pitches a piece.)
Interesting. I thought I remembered that people thought Mike Witt was a dick. Did he throw you some chin music?
he may have been a dick. he was a friend of one of my coaches and they were from orange county, so…
OK, the internet is pissing me off. I have a strong but vague recollection of Mike Witt being considered a real jerk, but I am unable to find any substantiation. Lots about his perfect game (1-0, last day of season vs Texas) and his later completing a combined no-hitter with Mark Langston, some about his curveball, the fact that he was a Blevinsesque 6’7″ 185 lbs, and that he’s a good golfer. He does get a mention in the Hall of Shame section of a website devoted to Nintendo RBI Baseball, but only that he “Used hypnotist to try to help him gain focus in an attempt to win 20 games in 1984. He didn’t win 20 games that or any season in his career” which isn’t particularly evil.
He also has a highly sought-after rare baseball card with a printing mistake, and the best I can come up with is in an account from a comment on this page that one reason the card is so rare is that an Upper Deck executive’s wife found Witt’s facial expression to be salacious.
So, he may be a dick, but maybe not, and it is possible I have wrongly scorned him lo these many years.
The internet was clear, he went to Servite High school.
Asshole.
I hope the reds remain this useless in august.
Reds beat the Rangers in 11, so that’s something.
Bad news for fans of Bacon Tuesday. Unless the A’s pick him up (ducks).
Maybe the Pacifics could sign him.
since the royals don’t visit again this year, it may increase the odds of him returning to oakland
Booooo!
are you done?
Wiith what?
work
It was absolutely hideous at the game — hot and still outside, and the air conditioning in the West Side Club was either not working right or had been set for a 15K crowd instead of 35K. The fact that many people had been standing in the sun for three hours to get the Coco Lean did not help.
Today is definitely on the beach with the chair, the radio and the cooler of cold beverages.
Wrong sporting venue.
Curling at the Shark Tank is heaps of freaking fun.
Michael Ynoa is now a Stockton Port.
wow. ROAD TRIP!!
I could be down (or for me…up) for that.
Ynoa want to.
