Game 82 Car-di-nuls 101

If this were the NBA, it would be the last day.

Also, it sounds like the Coco lean brought the boys and girls to the yard

        Glen and Ray actually had a detailed discussion about this. Siunds like the upper body bobbles, giving it the look of a Bernie lean.

        • andeux Jun 29,2013 2:43 pm || Up

          Parker’s spot will come up on the 4th, which would just work (down from June 24-July 3 is 10 days) even without a DL move. I’d kind of like to see Gray, though Straily again would also be ok.

    Cespedes had a less than zero chance of doing anything with that pitch. He’s not making anywhere near the same adjustments he did last season.

      So frustrating.

      • JamesV Jun 29,2013 6:02 pm || Up

        And why I’m so hesitant to support breaking the bank to try keeping him around, before (haha) or during his free agent period. Exciting as he is, he won’t be worth it if he doesn’t show more of an ability to do more than just capitalize on bad pitches.

        • bear88 Jun 29,2013 8:14 pm || Up

          Isn’t this all an interesting but irrelvant discussion? The A’s won’t sign Cespedes for anywhere close to what he wants, whether he’s worth it or not.

          • JamesV Jun 29,2013 9:18 pm || Up

            Oh, it’s more to do with some people who think the A’s should just throw ungodly sums of money at him right now to get him to bypass his free agency period.

    For Milo’s birthday we put baseball cards in the gift bags. We ran out of packs so the only option were these grab bag type thing at wallgreens. they had all sorts of Topps from the 80s and 90s and 2000s. nothing good.

    But I did score a Bill Pecota and a Mike Witt (who came to a baseball practice of mine when I was 12 and threw batting practice to us, 2 pitches a piece.)

          OK, the internet is pissing me off. I have a strong but vague recollection of Mike Witt being considered a real jerk, but I am unable to find any substantiation. Lots about his perfect game (1-0, last day of season vs Texas) and his later completing a combined no-hitter with Mark Langston, some about his curveball, the fact that he was a Blevinsesque 6’7″ 185 lbs, and that he’s a good golfer. He does get a mention in the Hall of Shame section of a website devoted to Nintendo RBI Baseball, but only that he “Used hypnotist to try to help him gain focus in an attempt to win 20 games in 1984. He didn’t win 20 games that or any season in his career” which isn’t particularly evil.

          He also has a highly sought-after rare baseball card with a printing mistake, and the best I can come up with is in an account from a comment on this page that one reason the card is so rare is that an Upper Deck executive’s wife found Witt’s facial expression to be salacious.

          So, he may be a dick, but maybe not, and it is possible I have wrongly scorned him lo these many years.
