The “is it really game 81?” game thread 148

So if my sources are correct, we are half way through the season after today. And are treat for that is the St. Louis Cardinals.

I expect reports from those at the park on the stats of Matt Holliday’s smile.

      Holliday sucked as an A, then instantly became awesome upon leaving. Plus he cost us Carlos Gonzales, and sweet sweet Huston. Not Holliday’s fault perhaps, but still, boo.

    This Wendy’s commercial really irritates me… the one where she’s stalking the little girl & dad leaving the girl’s baseball game. “Did you hit a home run? RBI? Get hit by a pitch? No? Well THAT’s something to celebrate!”

    Am I bad for thinking the little girl should not be so happy about not getting hit by a pitch… because at least HBP would have gotten her on base?

      • FreeSeatUpgrade Jun 29,2013 9:20 am || Up

        A boy, SuSlu amends. Also Stephen Vogt’s trophy wall will have a funny look:

        According to the A’s, 5-year-old Richard Vega of San Jose returned the ball and requested only another ball in return. For the A’s, accustomed to grander demands, this was a breath of fresh air, and equipment manager Steve Vucinich said the team was trying to get him something more for his thoughtfulness.

        In addition, Vucinich got Vogt’s bat authenticated after the homer – and then Vogt used it his next at-bat and broke it. No matter, said Vogt. “The broken bat is going right on the wall with the lineup card and the ball,” he said.
