    It amazes me that AT&T could take something that seems as easy as “bulk your data plans and save” and not even get that right.

          This customer is in the automotive industry. Unfortunately, this was a call regarding parts that either failed in the field (i.e., on someone’s car), or in their assembly line. Not fun at all.

    I love how so many people on Twitter got upset/confused by people booing Posey last night. I wonder if they got it by now.

    • Glorious Mundy May 28,2013 7:19 pm || Up

      I missed that. Why are we booing him?

      • beebo May 28,2013 7:32 pm || Up

        Clarification: these were Giants fans talking.

        I mean, he’s not in an A’s uniform, and the game is in the Coliseum. He’s filthy rich, and Gnats fans coo over him. Did they expect a standing ovation or something?

        • DFA May 28,2013 9:14 pm || Up

          Hes not an asshole and hes quite good. He shouldn’t be booed.

            It’s quite annoying how everybody loves him. Mostly because he doesn’t know how to block the plate properly and the idiot Gnats fans flipped out and wanted the goddamn rules changed because of it

              In any case, booing is rude and everything, but that’s the spectacle of professional sports for you.

      • nevermoor May 28,2013 8:59 pm || Up

        I don’t start caring (much) until the regular season. NFL hot-stove season kinda sucks.

        I watch the pre-season games, and usually get attached to one long shot (Ian Williams last year), but not really much of a distraction.

        Rooting, no. Expecting, yes. And we have a much greater track record of said failure. But mostly it’s just that goofy look on his face and the way he hustles that bothers me. Not the hustle itself, but the actual way he does it.

      He can STFU with this BS fan service to his commenters though. Fans of the less fashionable team in an area are always going to resent the more fashionable team, and are consequently going to get kind of excited about beating them. That’s sports. It doesn’t make the A’s fans “monomaniacal,” and it’s not primarily about the stadium situation, either.

        I’m sure there’s a segment of A’s fans that don’t like the Giants specifically because of the stadium issue, but my impression is that that is a small segment.

        I know for me, the reasons why I don’t like the Giants are multifaceted. It’s a summation of my experiences growing up in a Giants centric community, the attitudes I encounter when I dare to express my A’s fandom, the treatment my team gets in the greater Bay Area media and national media (Heyman’s tweet last night is a perfect example of that BS we deal with all the time), and the rage inducing patronization which that post quite adeptly illustrates.

        He’s a Giants fan and he doesn’t understand why A’s fans don’t like the Giants. He’s right and he should’ve just stopped there instead of tearing down a straw man and only continuing to prove that he really doesn’t understand why A’s fans don’t like the Giants.

        • dmoas May 29,2013 12:06 pm || Up

          Yeah, I’d guess very few people actually care about the stadium situation wrt to the Giants hatred. For most, it’s just “one more reason to a long list of many reasons.” The fact is, if it were just one thing, we’d probably be over it and simply not care. It’s the confluence of all those things that makes it impossible to ignore. And anything you can’t ignore will eventually just grate on you like nails on a chalkboard.

          • Dial C for Concupiscence May 29,2013 12:18 pm || Up

            It’s a rather big sticking point for me. Everything lenscrafters said plays a part too, but it’s an instance of the Giants actively trying to keep the A’s down or drive them away. That’s kind of a big deal when it comes to my feelings about a team.

            • dmoas May 29,2013 12:30 pm || Up

              It is for me too, I just doubt it’s so prevalent among the fan base. Mostly it’s just yet ONE MORE THING about the Giants that draws my ire. But I have as much hatred for Selig about that as the Giants because he’s in a position to act and chooses to sit on his ass and do nothing.

              • 5Aces May 29,2013 12:49 pm || Up

                This. Hell, I have more hatred for Selig about it. I don’t like what the Gnats are trying to do, but I get it. If the roles were reversed I can’t say I would do different than try to make sure I was the only game in town. Selig and the lodge are the ones who can make it final either way. They can say SJ is a go, or they can tell Wolffisher that it’s Oakland or bust.

                While it is the most obvious example of thm doing something against us that is what the opposition is supposed to do. My complaints are much more with the attitude of a fan base that acts like they are the GD Yankees when until a couple of years ago they were closer to the Indians. (I miss the “0 splash hits, 4 world titles” line to use against my friends…”

                  Yes, and in fact Lew made multiple public statements at the time to that effect, that he knew the rules, that he was buying the team under those rules, and that he had no intention of challnging t-rights.

                  A temper tantrum? In what way? He’s been nothing but cordial (to some too a fault) about the whole thing. And yes, he knows the rules. Part of the rules are that T-Rights can be overruled/changed by a vote. Ergo, he’s playing by the rules, not going against them. He’s never threaten legal action, he’s never actually forced the issue (which he could), and he’s toted the MLB party line practically every step of the way. The only one’s acting childish are the Giants who whine “It’s ours and you can’t have it, never ever ever wah wah wah.”

                  Except Mom and Dad *haven’t* told him he can’t watch TV after 9. Mom and Dad have told him they’ll create a blue ribbon committee to look into the factors of watching TV before and after 9 to see whether there’s a difference between the shows he’s watching before 9 and after 9 and whether or not it effects the shows his brother is watching. And then while both brothers wait, Mom and Dad have sat on their ass watching TV themselves. All little Lew has done is look over Mom and Dad’s shoulder (and occasionally his brother’s shoulder) to see if he can get a sense of what all he’s missing out on.

                • FreeSeatUpgrade May 29,2013 2:53 pm || Up

                  Wrong. The Blue Ribbon stuff was all after Wolffish bought the team with the understanding (and public acceptance) of the situation. MLB later said they’d re-look at the situation. So Mom and Dad clearly set the rules…it’s only after Mom and Dad said they’d reconsider things that the whining started in earnest.

                  The lesson, as all parents know, is to never acknowledge a willingness to compromise.

                  Nope. The point you seem to conveniently miss is that the RULES as you keep bringing up have an allowance for the other children to get together and change the situation with a 75% vote. There’s no blanket rule that states you can NEVER go to SJ. It’s just a hard set of boundaries. Yes, they agreed to those boundaries initially. And now they’re asking for Mom & Dad and their other brothers to reconsider those boundaries, an allowance that was ALSO agreed upon by each sibling.

        It’s worth remembering that the positions were reversed at one time, though. The A’s were up, and the Giants were almost in Florida. To get from there to here took a lot of doin’. I can understand why A’s fans dislike the Giants. I can understand why the territorial rights issue is a big deal and qualifies as reason enough to root against a team. But to be so monomaniacal about it? It’s odd and fascinating and misplaced.

        The Giants are still in the Bay Area and not Tampa because of the A’s giving them South Bay rights.

        The Giants are now trying to force the A’s out of the Bay Area completely, and it’s goddamn sure big enough to be a 2 team market. I couldn’t give 2 shits if they move to San Jose, Fremont, Jack London Square, Coliseum City, , or the fucking 580/680 interchange. The Giants want to block any or all of that, so FUCK THEM.

                It’s my belief that the NIMBYs in Fremont had zero to do with Wolffish abandoning that plan. Rather, the crashing real estate market meant that the condo-mall financing mechanism no longer worked. The NIMBYs then provided Lew with a convenient cover story which fit well into his sad violin narrative of being a lonely guy trying to do good, constantly thwarted by CEQA.

    LOL at “fake controversy.” It’s not about loving the Coliseum as much as it’s the suggestion A’s should play the Giants games in SF. Of course a new stadium would be nice, but don’t act like it’s a shame A’s home games aren’t played in AT&T instead. Stupid.

    This is a good thread… it has a win over the hated rival in it, lots of additional Giants’-FK’ing, and then our players start heroically tweeting defending the Old Concrete Lady’s — hey man, she was crowned “Miss Multiuse” of 1969 and 1972-75, you know… think about that before you diss — virtue. I FUCKING LOVE OUR TEAM FOREVER. DOUBLE_FK the Giants in these next two, I want to ride into that place like the Wicked Witch of the West, swoop down and take TIMMEH’s and Zito’s lunch money myself goddammit.

    I want Brandon Moss to come up with the bases drunk tonight and hit a ball so FK’ing far into the San Francisco Bay that wherever Barry Bonds is at the time — even if he isn’t watching the game or is somewhere in the Nova Scotia lowlands digging for HGH shells — his butthole will itch. The resultant whiplash (from the splashdown, not from Bonds’ backside) will have Lincecum reaching for the top-shelf sticky meds and the high (oh, so high) intensity vaporizer in this evening’s postgame hot tub for sure.

    And before I forget, TRIPLE-FK Jon “head made of” Heyman and the complete vacuum of understanding (was he even watching? did he witness the packed house both nights screaming and carrying on the loudest since last fall, when the Hayward fault was nearly compromised?) he is featuring of what makes the Coliseum more famous than the Roman Colosseum. And why it has the title of “The Coliseum” — without even having to prefix the “Oakland” — in the global sports multiverse. It’s one thing to be an idiot, dude… but to be and idiot and advertising is one dolt over the line.

        I want to hear Ken Korach’s call of Cespedes clearing the wall, the bleachers, the mitt, the fencing, the concourse, the Bay, the estuary, and then the entire Oakland Coliseum (yes it will have technically cleared BOTH fences, west and east) and then over the bridge & boink! off the BART station.

        I’d even listen to Jon Miller call that. Adios Gigantes!

            He’s good, but he’s a little schticky for my tastes, to the point where his personality overwhelms his call of the action. “Adios pelota” annoys me too. All told, I’d take Flemming over him.

            • FreeSeatUpgrade May 29,2013 5:54 pm || Up

              I think this is a product of his years as ESPN’s #1 pxp guy. I thought Miller was a smooth professional at the mike in his Orioles days (ironically, Peter Angelos ditched Miller in pursuit of an announcer who’d be a more partisan homer). I still like Miller today, but his radio personality has definitely taken a downturn toward the schticky.

                I agree with that. What I don’t like is that when I listen to him I think “I am listening to Jon Miller broadcast a baseball game” rather than “I am listening to a baseball game.”

            Miller used to be good, but nowadays I find him to be a bit behind the action. Sometimes he does the Vince thing where he omits important information (fair or foul, ball or strike) or takes too long to get to it. Of course, I don’t listen to too many Giants games so a few bad outings could’ve skewed my view.

            Flemming is terrific.

        I was really blown away by how bad the fans were last night. I’d forgotten just how spoiled I am going to A’s games.

        The loudest stadium-wide clapping was to drive the seagulls away as the game dragged on. Other than that, it was mostly smatterings of oddly-timed noise from specific parts of the park, which sounded more like fights brewing than actual cheering.
