Enjoy the game. I’m currently on a conference call, so maybe I’ll catch up later if I’m still alive.

It amazes me that AT&T could take something that seems as easy as “bulk your data plans and save” and not even get that right.
Sadly I’m still alive.
Hope you survive the call, doc. I’m not a fan of those myself.
It turned out to be less bad than I thought. Dealing with our customers is never fun.
some of my customers are nice. Others…
This customer is in the automotive industry. Unfortunately, this was a call regarding parts that either failed in the field (i.e., on someone’s car), or in their assembly line. Not fun at all.
The deal with the BP caps is what?
paul lucas had a note about mlb asking a bunch of teams to use them tonight.
We can wear the elephant hats? I thought they were BP/ST only.
Seems all the teams are wearing their BP hats tonight.
MLB must have excess stock in their warehouse that they’re trying to move.
It has something of a forced feel to it.
Over / under parker can go 3 w/out a dinger?
After 1.1 in the primo seats, I say 2.1. Not many.
Woo primo seats!
Who won the privilage the young mr or misses?
Ms. Primera.
Nice!

Ugh, hope that wierd Cespe ole doesnt come back to haunt us…
I’m OK with him not crashing into the wall there.
I am too, but seems like (I cant believe Im gonna say this) Ray and Glenn said he could have stuck his glove out and made the catch.
That was strike 3.
I love how so many people on Twitter got upset/confused by people booing Posey last night. I wonder if they got it by now.
I missed that. Why are we booing him?
Clarification: these were Giants fans talking.
I mean, he’s not in an A’s uniform, and the game is in the Coliseum. He’s filthy rich, and Gnats fans coo over him. Did they expect a standing ovation or something?
Hes not an asshole and hes quite good. He shouldn’t be booed.
You always boo the opposing team’s best player. It doesn’t always have be able the guy being an asshole or overrated.
It’s quite annoying how everybody loves him. Mostly because he doesn’t know how to block the plate properly and the idiot Gnats fans flipped out and wanted the goddamn rules changed because of it
Thanks, and go As.
And if they are going to chant M-V-P when he comes up in our park, then screw them.
Especially when he’s been wildly non-MVP (though good) this year
.388 wOBA from the catcher is pretty MVPish, actually.
this
I’ll take a .412 wOBA from the 3B
Thanks, and go As.
#9 in NL War, over 1 win behind the leader.
I was completely unaware of the season Carlos Gomez is having.
It’s quite insane.
This, and dmoas’ comment. I only know Gerald Dempsey Posey III’s stats and I can only judge from that. If he’s an asshole — I don’t assume that he is — I don’t know about it.
In any case, booing is rude and everything, but that’s the spectacle of professional sports for you.
Why? Hes a fairly wholesome incredibly good baseball player who isn’t a showboat or an asshole. Brian Wilson? Booo the fuck out of that dude.
I’ll saving my booing for Sandoval. Brian Wilson is gone.
yeah boing sandoval works for me.
I boo anyone in a Gnats jersey.
Yesterday we chanted “No Means No” for him.
Awesome
Will thought of it. Not as good as the Rage, but almost.
Good. I fully endorse hassling Sexual Assault Panda.
If you are producing you arent hitting. 193.
He got his 5 pitches at least.
The spirit of the Aramark workers is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Did you just eat a concession stand worker?
More of that changeup please.
Much needed low pitch inning.
Yeeeeeeeeees STFU Giants fans.
Huzzah!
Norris’s strut when he hits a no doubter is awesome.
Now Kickham while he’s down!
” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen>
So glad you could pitch in Rosie…
[No Eeyores] FUCK YES GO A”s
I remember this Parker from such seasons as 2012.
Yes, Ray. Losing is bad. Winning is good.
Water wet.
BEER IS GOOD … AND STUFF.
Rain is wet, sugar is sweet
Clap your hands, and stomp yer feet.
That ball was hit HARD.
lol wtf Bochy?
I hope this idiotic intentional walk gets what it deserves.
Part one: run-scoring walk. Check.
Part two: bases clearing double please.
Close enough.
HAR har har, too bad his mom had to watch that…
Refreshing amount of Gold and Green out there, way more than last years Orange and Black fest.
That’s the first IBB of Josh Donaldson’s career. I was already typing that when they mentioned it.
Bases-loaded lawyer ball.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Wearing a Panda hat to the Coliseum should be grounds for automatic ejection.
And 6’8″ FTW.
ZOMG! Whattsa rostah for Nate-eh?!
YEEESSSSSSSS!
Kickham out of the game.
BARELY KNEW HIM
Thanks, and go As.
“‘Kickham’, he said, and Kickham we did, he’ll never pitch here any more.”
3rd inning pen’ hells yes!
YOU FKED UP BOCHY
Yes he did. To be fair, Kickham didn’t give him much to work with.
Putting him in the spot where he couldn’t throw that slider down and in on 3-2 was cruel.
This.
This is fun
880 to 580 to I-5 to 152 to 99.
Dude can be home to see himself on the 11 o’clock channel 47 news…
Ouch
I can’t decide whether to feel bad for a kid who doesn’t do well on his big league debut or to rejoice cause FK the Giants.
Why not both?
He got put on the 40-man for this start, so feel good that he’s getting a raise.
Dewey, Kickham and Howe.
nice
thx
Now, about my squeaky struts…
LOL
The umpires’ firm.
MOJO
Bochy is not afraid to use his pen’ up apparently.
Stragetery, clearly!
Well goddammit, I can’t even spell a mispelled word. Strategery, I say!
Melvin gets Smith in for Montz, and Bochy burns Lopez in the 3rd inning. Not hard to tell who’s winning this chess match.
This. They still have to get 5 more innings from their pen tonight.
Chad Gaudin on the verge of making his triumphant return to the Coliseum mound.
Anyone know when he changed from Gow-den to Go-dan?
I was trying to figure this out over the weekend…
I don’t recall him ever being called “Gow-den”. It’s always been Go-dan.
Uhh, he was Gow-den for at least the first year he was with the A’s.
I vaguely remember hearing something in his first year about how up until then it had been pronounced differently.
+1
And Zito still to pitch in the series.
Well, it worked, and yet Montz is out and replaced by a real player, wash?
Advantage Melvin with no Lopez available to face Moss in a crucial spot later.
Man, watching the pitches from here is really neat. Seth smith just got carved up by that same pitch three times from J.Lo.
Oh shit, heh.
heh
I think Hunter Pence us constantly, obsessively worried that bugs are crawling on him.
He should pray he never gets traded to Cleveland.
I could see him having fleas.
Ugliest stance in the majors imo.
I think he IS a bug.
Sloth.
Thanks, and go As.
Lol, that’s really good, really good.
Tell me they dont’ look alike. Go ahead, try.
Thanks, and go As.
They don- OK they do.
Hey, I know, we should all get sloth hats and wear them to games.
It’s the meth.
Formication!
Billy Koch says hello.
We’re gonna need more runs. Hopefully, Gaudin will bail us out here.
“Rosie needs to find a different way to the ballpark.” — Vince.
Yeah, that would be Business 80 to the Jefferson Blvd. exit.
Nice!
win
Lovely
Heh
hee
All right Parker, let’s throw some strikes please.
So the Mets beat Rivera, which must surely mark the first time in MLB history that the guy who threw out the ceremonial first pitch took the loss in the game that followed.
FK the Yankees. Even if that ruined Ray’s night finding out that Rivera lost one.
Shit. Sharks lost.
Bummer.
They got outplayed. Quick is just too damn good for sloppy defense and stupid penalties.
Listening to Ray ask Glen about basketball and hockey finals is making me want to switch over to nat sound now.
Good shot of FSU spitting sunflower seeds.
Looks like Lew is sitting in his usual spot in the last row of diamond level…
MAKE IT RAIN!!
So long as they don’t catch me picking my nose, or worse.
Hells yeah, good running it out!
Every time Ray talks about the NL going to the DH he sounds he us thinking abiut the reasons for the very first time.
Every time Ray talks he sounds like he’s thinking for the very first time.
This is a very boring conversation they’re having.
Which described EVERY conservation they’ve ever had.
Like a virgin.
Thinking for the veeeery first tiimme.
You complete me, Matty.
Well, at least I don’t have to care about not-baseball for several months.
About 2 months ’til NFL training camps open!
I don’t start caring (much) until the regular season. NFL hot-stove season kinda sucks.
I watch the pre-season games, and usually get attached to one long shot (Ian Williams last year), but not really much of a distraction.
I start caring about the NFL (a little) on game 3 of the preseason, otherwise, they can call me the weekend after Labor Day.
That’s kind of a mouthful. Can I just call you Twald?
We better FKing get runs here considering how much of a slog this inning has been.
I’d like a Theth Thlam pleathe.
Batheth-loaded walk will do fine.
Bochy should bring in Lopez here.
Hee
Wow, 4 pitches…
Of course Suck Ass. Swing at the first pitch ever he walks a run in on 4 pitches.
This. Hacking at slop. Maybe the A’s should trade him to SF, where he’d fit right in.
Not Caribbean Enough (for Larry Kreuger)
Seriously. Gaudin can’t throw a strike on 3-0 and Rosales is swinging on the first pitch. I’m getting visibly angry every time I see him now
I was unable to log in when it happened to complain about it. I hate that dude.
When we talk about playing the game the right way what idiot does that?
Suck Ass should have leaned into that one.
No swinging allowed, Rosie.
And Suck Ass tosses tosses the salad.
It can’t last forever can it?
I mean they have to realize how much he’s harshing the collective mellow.
“But he has a hose!” said a bunch of complete fucking idiots.
He’s a fine 25th man. He just should not be playing this much.
Nah, I’m done with him. I don’t even want him on the bench.
FUCK YOU ROSIE UGH!!!!!!!!!!
Why would you swing ever Rosales?? Can we release him before his next AB?
For all of their DH talk, Glenn and Ray cant figr out that having Suck Ass in the lineup is worse than a pitcher.
Melvin should have the pitcher hit and DH for Suck Ass.
(This nickname is catching on. I like it.)
Think Cat in the Hat, we have Suck Ass 1 and Suck Ass 2.
I wish I could see the game.
Thanks, and go As.
vipbox google it.
finally got one. thefirstrow was failing me
Thanks, and go As.
firstrow is better for football vip for baseball
noted
Thanks, and go As.
Awesome inning, Jarrod could go the distance, but slim chance Bob will let him.
He’s gooooing the distance…. he’s goooing for speeed…
At 94 pitches through 7, I’m thinking I don’t want to see that happen.
Hello, Banjo Man.
I hate that guy.
He died to me when he put on Gnats colors in 2010.
I liked seeing him around when I could actually go to games at the Coliseum on a regular basis. My, how times have changed.
I remember Braden’s perfect game, he entered my section under the overhang playing that awful shit. Annoying as fucking hell.
Admittedly, I have a high tolerance for human spectacle. But hey, you got to see that game!
There is that. And that was fucking awesome.
yup
For real: Around the third inning or so I got up to go pee, came back and Banjo Man was sitting in my seat, talking to my daughter (they’ve met, she knows his son).
I looked over at your seat, where I had seen you earlier and got very confused
Someone at work gave me one of those replica ’89 WS rings that that fan was just showing off.
Nice and loud out there!
M O J O
Hmmm, two outs, two bases open and Suck Ass in the hole.
I wonder how many runs 9 Josh Donaldsons would score. I bet it would be more than you think.
I always think of Peggy Noonan.
Thanks, and go As.
Like minds.
Good to see we sll have more than just the A’s in common.
Danny
” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen>
you’re not being the ball, Noonan.
Thanks, and go As.
Oh CY…
Ugh – catch the FKing ball.
I’m about as done with Chris Young as everybody else is with Rosales.
Thanks, and go As.
This.
If I had realized I had to talk smack about him in the field too I would have….SMFH.
Scarily he makes the most money on the entire team
I’m pretty confident in saying I’d rather take back the CY/Moneypenny trade, not sign Nakajima, and have Rosales gone and Cliffy on teh bench/utility guy..
and as soon as I type that he hits a fuckin bomb.. really
Thanks, and go As.
Now he’ll be swinging for the fences for the next month again.
I’m not that far yet. I still have faith Young will turn it around. I am surprised at his defense though.
As for Rosie, can we just acquire Chase Utley?
Did we ever figure out why they’re wearing their spring training hats?
To sell more spring training hats.
I believe all of MLB was tonight, for some unannounced (at least I think) reason.
Well, that or an attempt to get $$$$$$$$$ from more sales.
We got as close as “everyone else is doing it…”.
Buy a camo cap, get a BP cap for half price!!
I’d love to add on about 3 or 4 here, so Balfour can sit back down.
Huh, what were you saying?
You still Suck Ass, salad tosser.
Of course when the bases are empty.
The ball hit his bat.
Exactly.
lol
Dammit – now he’s earned himself another couple of weeks on the roster.
This has reached the point where it’s what MikeV was saying about Barton. People are just rooting for failure so he disappears.
Rooting, no. Expecting, yes. And we have a much greater track record of said failure. But mostly it’s just that goofy look on his face and the way he hustles that bothers me. Not the hustle itself, but the actual way he does it.
I don’t find running full speed on walks and home runs to be particularly “cute” or endearing when he’s generally bad at so many other things as far as MLB players go.
That’s definitely a part of it, yeah. Especially when it’ll tire you out or get yourself hurt for when you need that energy. It’s just a waste of effort.
There’s just no point to it.
Just multiply this a few times:
http://freekraut.net/?p=12301#comment-328190
Dont care. He is still Suck Ass.
What the fuck?
Now Rosales went and hit a home run, thus keeping himself on the team.
2 whole pitches for CY25. GOD Schlong cant get back fast enough.
I don’t think Schlong is the antidote to that problem.
(yes, yes)
Sadly, probably not. But at least he can field his position.
Young is not a competent right fielder, so I guess Reddick is an upgrade, but he aggravates me too.
Same.
I’m not president of the Reddick fan club, but I am beyond fed up with Young. Especially when you hear Fosse talking about how productive he has been while hitting like .187.
And then when you take out his 8-for-22 numbers in Houston that leaves him batting just .149 (15-for-101).
I may or may not be instigating…
Thanks, and go As.
Rosales isn’t on the team for his offense. The hate seems excessive, given the A’s options at shortstop right now. I do agree that he should play less.
I do have a hard time thinking Nakajima could be much worse, but
Thanks, and go As.
Green? Weeks? Lowrie goes to SS.
Can Lowrie play shortstop coming off his injury? The A’s don’t seem to think so.
Yes, they’ve played him at second because they seem to think Rosales should only play short stop coming off his own injury, which in itself is fucking stupid.
He’s also not on the team for his defense. Not really at least.
So tired of BoMel overusing D/C/B in these big lead situations.
I actually think Doolittle should have taking this inning.
No…he’s pitched in back to back games with 2 innings yesterday.
Should have been Blevins.
Oh, haven’t been able to watch, just think it would be good to rest the old guy.
yup agreed
Yeah, this is excessive.
If you absolutely must use one of them, why not throw Cook for a second inning tonight, plan for only Balfour and Doo tomorrow?
And I bet today if we get there it will end up being Doo in the 8th and Cook to close instead of the other way around (assuming Balfour is unavailable…).
What an impressive hit! Buster Posey’s popups are better than anyone else’s home runs!
Possible tweet somewhere in the universe: OMG YOU GUYS LEAVE BUSTER ALONE!!!11!! #crying
wow.
Thanks, and go As.
Fuck you Heyman…
It’s late, he’s had a few, take it easy on him.
Seriously? We can’t let all those seagulls go hungry, you know!
Tomorrow I’ll be representing over there.
Yes, what a shame having to play in a venue with all those championships in different sports on display, where much of the iconic sports history of the last 50 years has been written :(
He — a lot of these wealth worshiping, tone-deaf-to-history, wannabe fratboys — should just write in dollar $igns, no other character$$$$$$$$$$$ allowed.
What an idiot.
…meanwhile, Oakland outdraws the Mets-Evils’ first two Subway Series games over here.
Really?
Granted, it was raining out here for most of the day. But yesterday on TV, it looked like no one was bothered to show up in Queens at all. Anyway, some numbers:
Today:
Oakland: 35,067
Citi Field: 31,877
Yesterday:
Oakland: 36,067
Citi Field: 32,911
That is fucking awesome.
Impressive!
Hey FSU- would you say it was over 70% A’s fans?
Looked that way on TV, but hard to tell ultimately.
my vantage point was this was more or less true. I think there were more giants fans than 30%, but its a good rough estimate
Yeah, maybe 60-40. They got quieter as the game went on, so I was surprised by how much cheering there was when Pence homered in the ninth.
that must have been pretty from your seat.
Also, it was odd how much cheering there was for buster in the ninth. I kept on reminding the giants fans around me that there was a4 run lead
Giants fans aren’t conditioned to watch the game.
I wonder what the revenue numbers would look like?
He’s really quite dumb.
He’s getting Twitterpooped on, big time.
As well he should. Learn how to use an ampersand, dipshit!
For shame!
Shame CBS issues you a paycheck while your head sits so empty #fuckingidiot
Some guys just can’t take the Pressure of the Trough. Poor fellow had to hold it All the way Back to his hotel in The Sittay.
speaking of, I walked right by the queue of giants fans to an open spot. they seemed very confused by the process
Speaking of which, is this photoshopped (warning: giant fan butt)? Please tell me it’s photoshopped.
Wow, what a fucking asshole
So who’s going to twat back at him tonight “A shame the a’s and giants have to play these games at the coliseum while the Coliseum sits empty”
Timmy looks like he’s super fired up for tomorrow.
Oh Grant.
Fuck him.
Hunter Pence has skinny toothpick legs. I was thinking yesterday that he must attach his socks to his pants with Velcro, otherwise they would never stay up.
LOL
Just punch out Mr Adderall and end it.
SWEEP!
I hope Balfour didn’t scream at the Giants dugout there. That wasn’t a good look.
Looked to me like he screamed towards the SF 1st base coach. Struck me oddly also.
That was all just a ploy to get it to a 3-run differential because Balfour wanted another save, right? I kid.
Boy howdy, that sure was fun!
Yay!
All that and bragging rights for Primera too.
Grant is pretty funny:
I for give him for wasting so much time on the strike three to belt yesterday.
So he did a “Mr. Horse has Tourette’s” impression?
Speaking of which, that was a bad call, and Fosse’s attempt to claim it got the corner was laughable. Nice frame job by Norris though.
I watched the giants broadcast yesterday and they didn’t say much about it. I think miller said in passing that it was the first pitch of its kind called a strike that day.
I flipped over to KNBR last night, and man, Miller sounded utterly bored by the game he was watching, and downright offended that the Giants had given up a homerun to Rosales.
to be fair, he should be offended
Tonights starting nine is Suck Ass free!
Thats just a teAse. Wait til he PHs in the 8th.
He can STFU with this BS fan service to his commenters though. Fans of the less fashionable team in an area are always going to resent the more fashionable team, and are consequently going to get kind of excited about beating them. That’s sports. It doesn’t make the A’s fans “monomaniacal,” and it’s not primarily about the stadium situation, either.
frankly, I am happy the giants are thwarting the move to San Jose. I wasn’t for a long time, but now I am
This is where I am too.
It helps that the A’s got good last year. Current situation is that the team is competitive and seats are cheap. If they have another 5 year run of seasons at .500 or below (like 2007-2011), then I expect support to grow for the “leave Oakland, get more payroll/revenue” position.
It does.
I am so in love with the idea of a great transit hub at diridon station with big city amenities.
Might as well wait until BART is down there before building a stadium anyway. Until then, we can just build a temporary stadium on the bay.
Where have I heard That before? /sniff
Floating Coliseum?
Its the one thing about the Giants that I like.
I’m sure there’s a segment of A’s fans that don’t like the Giants specifically because of the stadium issue, but my impression is that that is a small segment.
I know for me, the reasons why I don’t like the Giants are multifaceted. It’s a summation of my experiences growing up in a Giants centric community, the attitudes I encounter when I dare to express my A’s fandom, the treatment my team gets in the greater Bay Area media and national media (Heyman’s tweet last night is a perfect example of that BS we deal with all the time), and the rage inducing patronization which that post quite adeptly illustrates.
He’s a Giants fan and he doesn’t understand why A’s fans don’t like the Giants. He’s right and he should’ve just stopped there instead of tearing down a straw man and only continuing to prove that he really doesn’t understand why A’s fans don’t like the Giants.
Yeah, I’d guess very few people actually care about the stadium situation wrt to the Giants hatred. For most, it’s just “one more reason to a long list of many reasons.” The fact is, if it were just one thing, we’d probably be over it and simply not care. It’s the confluence of all those things that makes it impossible to ignore. And anything you can’t ignore will eventually just grate on you like nails on a chalkboard.
It’s a rather big sticking point for me. Everything lenscrafters said plays a part too, but it’s an instance of the Giants actively trying to keep the A’s down or drive them away. That’s kind of a big deal when it comes to my feelings about a team.
It is for me too, I just doubt it’s so prevalent among the fan base. Mostly it’s just yet ONE MORE THING about the Giants that draws my ire. But I have as much hatred for Selig about that as the Giants because he’s in a position to act and chooses to sit on his ass and do nothing.
This. Hell, I have more hatred for Selig about it. I don’t like what the Gnats are trying to do, but I get it. If the roles were reversed I can’t say I would do different than try to make sure I was the only game in town. Selig and the lodge are the ones who can make it final either way. They can say SJ is a go, or they can tell Wolffisher that it’s Oakland or bust.
While it is the most obvious example of thm doing something against us that is what the opposition is supposed to do. My complaints are much more with the attitude of a fan base that acts like they are the GD Yankees when until a couple of years ago they were closer to the Indians. (I miss the “0 splash hits, 4 world titles” line to use against my friends…”
Yeah, Selig has gone full head in the sand on this issue. It really won’t be addressed until after he retires.
I was pretty ambivalent about them until they won a WS and became unbearably smug.
yeah i was mostly ok before 10
The bandwagon-y embarcadero-center-cloggers in 10 were the last straw.
I hate the Raiders for Mt. Davis far more than the Giants, though. If it was the same ownership group we gave SJ to, that’d be one thing. It isn’t.
This so this. Fuck the Raiders.
Also Lew et al bought the team knowing what the rules are and is now throwing a temper tantrum about not getting to do something he always knew was against the rules. Hes a fucking petulant child.
Yes, and in fact Lew made multiple public statements at the time to that effect, that he knew the rules, that he was buying the team under those rules, and that he had no intention of challnging t-rights.
A temper tantrum? In what way? He’s been nothing but cordial (to some too a fault) about the whole thing. And yes, he knows the rules. Part of the rules are that T-Rights can be overruled/changed by a vote. Ergo, he’s playing by the rules, not going against them. He’s never threaten legal action, he’s never actually forced the issue (which he could), and he’s toted the MLB party line practically every step of the way. The only one’s acting childish are the Giants who whine “It’s ours and you can’t have it, never ever ever wah wah wah.”
Mom and dad told him that he can’t watch TV after 9. Hes talked about how unfair that is and all the programs he would watch pretty much nonstop for the last 5 years.
Except Mom and Dad *haven’t* told him he can’t watch TV after 9. Mom and Dad have told him they’ll create a blue ribbon committee to look into the factors of watching TV before and after 9 to see whether there’s a difference between the shows he’s watching before 9 and after 9 and whether or not it effects the shows his brother is watching. And then while both brothers wait, Mom and Dad have sat on their ass watching TV themselves. All little Lew has done is look over Mom and Dad’s shoulder (and occasionally his brother’s shoulder) to see if he can get a sense of what all he’s missing out on.
Wrong. The Blue Ribbon stuff was all after Wolffish bought the team with the understanding (and public acceptance) of the situation. MLB later said they’d re-look at the situation. So Mom and Dad clearly set the rules…it’s only after Mom and Dad said they’d reconsider things that the whining started in earnest.
The lesson, as all parents know, is to never acknowledge a willingness to compromise.
they bought the team in, what 2005? with the fremont plan. the market tanked, and they got NIBY’d. that is when Lew started the full press on San Jose
Nope. The point you seem to conveniently miss is that the RULES as you keep bringing up have an allowance for the other children to get together and change the situation with a 75% vote. There’s no blanket rule that states you can NEVER go to SJ. It’s just a hard set of boundaries. Yes, they agreed to those boundaries initially. And now they’re asking for Mom & Dad and their other brothers to reconsider those boundaries, an allowance that was ALSO agreed upon by each sibling.
I mean hes taking exactly the same position on the stadium issue that I do.
He confuses the stadium with the reasons I hate the Giants though.
Yeah, the stadium situation has literally nothing to do with my feelings about the Giants.
The Giants are still in the Bay Area and not Tampa because of the A’s giving them South Bay rights.
The Giants are now trying to force the A’s out of the Bay Area completely, and it’s goddamn sure big enough to be a 2 team market. I couldn’t give 2 shits if they move to San Jose, Fremont, Jack London Square, Coliseum City, , or the fucking 580/680 interchange. The Giants want to block any or all of that, so FUCK THEM.
Thanks, and go As.
im sorry how do the Giants try to block Freemont or JLS?
Orbital mind control lasers.
He didn’t say they *could* just that given the option they would.
I don’t want to get tinfoil hatty, but they could have had influence on the NIMBYs in fremont
And Lew Wolff could secretly be a Giants agent.
Actually, that would explain a lot.
It’s my belief that the NIMBYs in Fremont had zero to do with Wolffish abandoning that plan. Rather, the crashing real estate market meant that the condo-mall financing mechanism no longer worked. The NIMBYs then provided Lew with a convenient cover story which fit well into his sad violin narrative of being a lonely guy trying to do good, constantly thwarted by CEQA.
i’d buy that
(but I dont have a job or credit, just trust me, I can pay for it)
Yeah, about that …
oh shit, I need to pay you
This
Yup.
Not that they tried, but that they would rather the A’s were out of the Bay Area completely.
Thanks, and go As.
Here’s the skinny on the BP hats:
http://www.uni-watch.com/2013/05/29/mlb-teams-wear-batting-practice-caps-for-regular-season-games/
TL;DR: $$$$$$$$$
But I like several of those BP hats better.
Hold up, the draft is next week?? Someone tell me what to think so I can sound informed.
DRAFT THE GOOD ONE, BUT NOT THE GOOD ONE WHO WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT TIME TOO.
Its suppose to be a pretty weak draft. I have been too busy to pay much attention.
I am watching the giants broadcast of last nights game. 1)I am liking Krukow more than I did a few years ago, he is a homer, but he seems to be positive about everyone, opposing players, umpires, fans) I like that. (I don’t like gamer babes) 2) I hope they show kickhams famly when NOrris hits the bomb and when Bochy IBBs Donaldson and the rest of that inning
Jon Heyman’s texts to 95.7:
Heyman to Rise Guys on declining interview via text: “Sorry no disrespect but don’t want to get caught up in fake controversy. Just meant to draw comparison between best and worst baseball stadiums. Surprised A’s fans love Coliseum so much. I’d have assumed they’d agree with their team and ownership that they prefer a new stadium.”
To which I say:
LOL at “fake controversy.” It’s not about loving the Coliseum as much as it’s the suggestion A’s should play the Giants games in SF. Of course a new stadium would be nice, but don’t act like it’s a shame A’s home games aren’t played in AT&T instead. Stupid.
What a load of bullshit. Of course he meant disrespect. And there’s nothing fake about it other than his faux attempt at apologizing. Hell, he even tries to act like it’s an honest comparison to call them the best and worst baseball stadiums. There are better stadiums than ATT and worse stadiums than the Coliseum. Tell you what Heyman, let me come to your house and take a dump in your living room and see you not take offense to that.
look, if you don’t want to to comment say that. say, no comment. to go like he did is trying to justify something that he knows was wrong
The sad thing is I don’t think he gets that it’s wrong.
I’m still wondering about ATandT. Did Borat hijack his account or something?
[makes “drinky drinky” motion]
Um.
Huh, I didn’t get the Pat Burrell reference at first. I guess there’s a history there.
+1 for the non-ampersand.
kid knows his way around a joke
And seeing as how he is the one who brings out the backpack with snacks, I hope he has the decency to use fine china tonight.
Hell, I may tweet him this suggestion.
no bullpens though
Sure there are, and they’re even on the field!
(Because they forgot to design a place for them off the field of play)
ugh-now missing my second favorite line:
You know what else they were missing? A WS trophy room!
is there a bench for them? I thought they sat in the dug out.
DOn’t pay attention much.
Pretty sure there is.
Relievers at Warrantless Wiretap park sit in the dugout until they go to warm up.
They are kindly requested to hold in their farts until they head down the line.
Not universally accepted.
I was totally thinking of that when GM said that.
I guess there actually is no bench. Thought the visitors at least had one.
They’re in the dugout. All this despite the large spot in center that could be converted into a BP. What idiot designs a baseball stadium without a bullpen?
They’ve always claimed it was an accident, but I’ve always thought that’s bullshit.
Me too.
I think I may just love him.
He is killing it.
Most. Awesome.
Aren’t the concession workers on strike there? He may actually have to BYO.
Scabs
Shouldn’t the ballplayers from both teams show solidarity with their (much lower paid) union cousins by refusing to cross the picket lines? Maybe the Gnats should be playing at the Coliseum until the strike is resolved.
#shame
that would be awesome. Make the giants play in that shit hole.
No, no, we want them to be forced to play at the Coliseum.
That would fucking rock.
No, they held a one-day strike, but before and after that one day they’ve been working without a contract. So, no picket line.
Great idea. Don’t forget the bibs
It is well done
Crisp. Lowrie, Cespedes, Smith, DOnaldson, Jaso, Moss, Sogard, Milone
What. No DH? Boo!
Milone is batting so Chris Young doesn’t have to
OH! Well that makes sense. Carry on.
So you’re telling me we are putting our 9 best hitters out there…
8. There’s Sogard too.
Think of all of the awesome strategy! One-out sacrifice bunts!! Intentional walks to Sogard!!!
Rosales pinch failing!
Quality control is an important concept!
Cant have a modern facility without one!
This is a good thread… it has a win over the hated rival in it, lots of additional Giants’-FK’ing, and then our players start heroically tweeting defending the Old Concrete Lady’s — hey man, she was crowned “Miss Multiuse” of 1969 and 1972-75, you know… think about that before you diss — virtue. I FUCKING LOVE OUR TEAM FOREVER. DOUBLE_FK the Giants in these next two, I want to ride into that place like the Wicked Witch of the West, swoop down and take TIMMEH’s and Zito’s lunch money myself goddammit.
I want Brandon Moss to come up with the bases drunk tonight and hit a ball so FK’ing far into the San Francisco Bay that wherever Barry Bonds is at the time — even if he isn’t watching the game or is somewhere in the Nova Scotia lowlands digging for HGH shells — his butthole will itch. The resultant whiplash (from the splashdown, not from Bonds’ backside) will have Lincecum reaching for the top-shelf sticky meds and the high (oh, so high) intensity vaporizer in this evening’s postgame hot tub for sure.
And before I forget, TRIPLE-FK Jon “head made of” Heyman and the complete vacuum of understanding (was he even watching? did he witness the packed house both nights screaming and carrying on the loudest since last fall, when the Hayward fault was nearly compromised?) he is featuring of what makes the Coliseum more famous than the Roman Colosseum. And why it has the title of “The Coliseum” — without even having to prefix the “Oakland” — in the global sports multiverse. It’s one thing to be an idiot, dude… but to be and idiot and advertising is one dolt over the line.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Cespedes hit one across the bay into the Oakland Coliseum BART station. You know, as a souvenir for the kiddies.
Yeah, cespedes hitting it in the mitt would be cool
iirc, JD likes Big Phoney Parcque, as well. A few of his recent bombs would have gone much farther had they not run into walls. Remember, you heard it here first!
Okay, second.
The Coliseum seems to be roughly in the line from home plate to right-center at WWP.
I want to hear Ken Korach’s call of Cespedes clearing the wall, the bleachers, the mitt, the fencing, the concourse, the Bay, the estuary, and then the entire Oakland Coliseum (yes it will have technically cleared BOTH fences, west and east) and then over the bridge & boink! off the BART station.
I’d even listen to Jon Miller call that. Adios Gigantes!
I want to hear Jerry Coleman call it, and then Bill.
How about Gary Coleman? Whachoo Talkin’ ‘Bout Cespedes??!!
Personally I’d prefer a tenor saxophone interpretation from Ornette, if I were choosing a Coleman.
I really like Jon Miller as a broadcaster.
He’s good, but he’s a little schticky for my tastes, to the point where his personality overwhelms his call of the action. “Adios pelota” annoys me too. All told, I’d take Flemming over him.
I think this is a product of his years as ESPN’s #1 pxp guy. I thought Miller was a smooth professional at the mike in his Orioles days (ironically, Peter Angelos ditched Miller in pursuit of an announcer who’d be a more partisan homer). I still like Miller today, but his radio personality has definitely taken a downturn toward the schticky.
I think he’s technically excellent — every word gets its own intonation. It’s like he’s singing his prose. But frankly, I don’t hear him often anymore, for obvious reasons.
I agree with that. What I don’t like is that when I listen to him I think “I am listening to Jon Miller broadcast a baseball game” rather than “I am listening to a baseball game.”
he is more Jon miller doing jon miller in run of the mill games. More important games he dials it back. Flemming is good though.
I’d take him as our #2 over Vince any day of the week and twice on Thursdays.
hes just a shade worse than Korach in my book.
I like Adios Pelota
Miller used to be good, but nowadays I find him to be a bit behind the action. Sometimes he does the Vince thing where he omits important information (fair or foul, ball or strike) or takes too long to get to it. Of course, I don’t listen to too many Giants games so a few bad outings could’ve skewed my view.
Flemming is terrific.
D-backs beat writer at their away game in Texas:
They wouldn’t have this problem if they’d built a roof over that thing.
I hope they have a day night double header tomorrow
bullshit, make them play 2
No, make them lose a day off in September and have to randomly fly back home to make it up.
have we said weaver pitches today?
Weaver pitches today
Still a douche though.
I like this Fake Ray Fosse. He’s joined the upper echelon of Fake Twitterers for me, along with Fake Jean Quan.
Yay!
I was really blown away by how bad the fans were last night. I’d forgotten just how spoiled I am going to A’s games.
The loudest stadium-wide clapping was to drive the seagulls away as the game dragged on. Other than that, it was mostly smatterings of oddly-timed noise from specific parts of the park, which sounded more like fights brewing than actual cheering.
Random standing and frequent view blocking. It’s part of the experience!
So this must be why everyone just stares their phone at ATandT!
It’s the only way to follow the game.
